When Adrien reached back to the hideout, he felt bereft. He had opposed his Goddess and had given the girl a choice to escape if she wanted. After dropping the girl off, he blamed Kai but Adrien knew he could have made her do whatever he wanted.
He wanted to prove to Kai that no one stayed. People were temporary and after the things he had put her through, he wouldn't be surprised if she left running.
Stupid Kai. Why did he always fuck him with his emotions? Adrien had a hard time convincing himself she was just his toy and Kai had to fuck up the situation by developing feelings.
The first day Adrien had brought her here, she was just another toy. There had been a couple of them who didn't bother to check the location and he had to start all over again. His Goddess' order had been clear.
"The moment the girl starts to question you, take her with you"
It was important to protect their organization from the public's eye. It took the Goddess almost a year to build Heaven and another 6 months to build the headquarter where Adrien and a few other trusted members worked together to increase the member strength. It was a tedious process but in the end, it was worth the hassle. They were able to get more members after building the new headquarters.
Some people were weak to undergo the cleansing and hence had to be discarded. Luckily, he didn't have to get involved with that.
Adrien stared at her door. A part of him wanted to wash off every proof of her existence and drown in his sorrow with the immortal drink. He was tempted to follow that route like he had done so many times.
The Goddess would want to know what happened to his toy. Maybe he could fake her death. It wouldn't be surprising for any of them. They all knew he was ruthless, except when Kai was in control.
Adrien could easily hack into the cameras and delete a few footages. He was surprised by his train of thought. He had never defied his Goddess' order. He really might need another cleansing ceremony. The goddess has taken a particular interest in this specific girl, but why? was the question both Adrien and Kai had.
He opened the door to the room where he had locked her. He could feel the lack of her presence.
Kai hadn't been the only one who had gotten attached to her. That was why Adrien wanted to hate her, to punish her for making him feel this way. He wanted to eradicate anyone who aroused his weak side.
He knew she would leave. Nobody had stayed in his life for long anyway except the Goddess and the immortal drink. This was the only heaven he knew.
He was so terrified when he was first forced to drink the strange red-colored drink but he had reached heaven. He had nothing to fear until...her. Those sparkling brown eyes dulled every time she laid her eyes on him. She seemed so broken yet came alive when Kai showed up.
He despised himself. If things were different...he couldn't think of it right now. All that mattered was he had a purpose he needed to fulfill and he will do it for heaven.
"Fucking stupid. Airhead" he cursed himself, his hate deepening for the girl who made him feel this out of control. These emotions...he had felt them before but it was all lies. They were fake. Through his Goddess, he learned the truth.
He walked inside, in a trance, his mind replaying what he had done to her but he knew the Goddess had been watching. He risked her anger just to be with her for another day. He knew the other members wouldn't care as much about her.
Adrien dared to walk closer to the bed where he held her captive. The room was still surrounded by her intriguing scent. He hated it. He wanted to wipe every evidence of her existence from the room but he couldn't do it.
He fell to his knees, his hair hiding his view of the spot she had stayed for the past week.
He stayed there for a while, a whiff of her scent reaching him. Taunting him. A part of him wanted to lock her, to tie her to him. Maybe she'd hate him but she wouldn't leave like everyone else. Adrien was aware of Kai who strangely offered nothing.
Kai seemed to take in her scent as if it were his last day. Adrien could only hope it was. Since reaching heaven, Adrien had tried so many things to erase Kai. That tenacious airhead just wouldn't leave.
It was too late now and Adrien didn't have the heart to bring her back. He wanted to convince himself and Kai that she was long past gone.
He stayed in his current position for a while before getting up. He shut the door close behind him to make sure he wouldn't have to breathe in that scent. He hated it so much. He assured himself he would clean the room and erase any evidence of her existence in that room.
Adrien's eyes fell on the shackles lying on the ground beside his monitor. He had used it to tie her leg. He still remembered the scar on her ankle.
"She deserved it for daring to touch me" he muttered, the words ringing false to his ears. The shackles reminded him of a time...when he used to be in them. Not anymore. He had broken out of it.
He walked closer to the monitors, expecting to see a blank screen. He braced himself, his hands tightening on the bottle on the table.
His eyes widened when he realized...when he realized she was standing outside the apartment. It almost felt like deja vu except she wasn't the same anymore because he had done some unforgivable things to her.
"Stop thinking about it"
Just like the other day, he texted her but this time she asked for the apartment's door lock number. The door of the apartment opened and she entered. All the while, he couldn't believe what she was doing.
Is she crazy? He asked himself. Surprised, his hands released the hold he had on the bottle as it fell and shattered, red liquid spreading on the floor like blood.
He didn't pay any heed to it as he watched her and directed her to his main target's server. She walked in, as graceful as ever, genuine confusion etched on her face.
Adrien could feel Kai's presence more prominently. Not him again. Adrien didn't want Kai fronting when he talked to the Goddess. Only she could save him from his sinful thoughts.
"Emotions won't matter for others. Not when it comes to us" she had said. That was the first time Adrien had agreed with what the Goddess had said. Over a couple of years, he had come to realize she was right about almost everything.
Alayna looked confused as she settled down. She gazed at the phone waiting for him to text.
Adrien: Remember to be a good toy.
He quickly forwarded her to the other chatroom before she replied. He could monitor the chatroom to a certain degree without revealing his presence. Luckily, almost all the members were already in the chat room.
Adrien grabbed the other bottle and gulped down its content, a red drop slipping down the edge of his mouth. He wiped it away with his hand, power coursing to him.
The drink always made him feel clear-headed and the lack of emotions kept him focused. His thoughts were no longer focused on the girl. Adrien would ask for his punishment for letting Kai control. The girl could've escaped.
He grinned at the camera. For the first time, Kai had proven to be useful. His stupidity worked out in Adrien's favor. Kai had helped with the girl staying.
She was a nobody to him. A mere pawn in his game of revenge. Revenge. That was his only purpose in life.
