Chereads / His Cannon Fodder Princess / Chapter 10 - Candy

Chapter 10 - Candy

A Royal decree!

She... She was forcing the Queen into making a Royal decree!

Queen Jordyn's fa e grew pale from anger, sounds of her gritting her teeth could be faintly heard in the silent Hall.

"Why should I? You want to die right? Then go ahead. I'll send those two bastards along with you to the afterlife" She tried to sound unaffected but her fluttering eyelashes and tightly clenched fingers showed she wasn't as unaffected as she sounded.

"That's good, we would get to die together peacefully but you on the other hand..." Gwen chuckled "You would be forced to send your precious princess to the lion's den and by doing that the Prince would know of your attempt to deceive Rylica, Everyone would also come to know of my existence. Your days would cease to be peaceful from hence forth. Hehe do you still have the guts to see me die?" She asked, at the same time blood suddenly dripped out of her mouth, she stumbled and fell to her knees.

Queen Jordyn rushed to her. She held her chin and shook her strongly to keep her from passing out "where is the antidote?!"

"My deal first" beneath her soft grunts of pain, Gwen muttered out.

The Queen clenched and unclenched her hand. She hated that she was being blackmailed into doing something against her wish. The hatred she had for the girl intensified but that was it... She could not afford to let her die. If not for anything...

'Everyone would also come to know of my existence?' Gwen's words replayed in her head.

No! That was something she will never allow to happen! It must never come to be!

She signalled the guards and soon one of them stepped forward with the a pen and a paper with the Royal emblem. This paper was only used to pass out a decree in the name of the kingdom.

Words for Words. Gwen made sure she wrote what she told her on the royal paper. She wasn't greedy neither did she try overstep the limit she had. She knew if she asked for anything outrageous then the Queen would really not mind seeing her die. So all she made the Queen decree was that the little kids were made to be bondslaves to her— that is the Princess and they would follow her when she goes to assume the position of wife to the Seventh Prince of Rylica.

As a Leverage the Queen added the name of her most trusted maid to be the mother of the children, it was said the Mother and children would serve the Princess in Rylica.

Gwen didn't mind she watched one of the guards walk out of the room with the decree in hand to go deliver it to the Kingdom's administrator then she could finally breath a sigh of relief.

Her plan worked.

She was one step into finally being able to run away from the clutches of the Queen and that godforsaken supposed marriage.

"Where is the antidote?!" Now that she had fulfilled Gwen's deal, the Queen asked again hurriedly. The girl was curled like a centipede on the floor whilst clutching her chest and stomach, her face was pallid, it looked like she could die any minute.

"Advisor Floyd" She managed to say

Advisor Floyd?

Even the man whose name was called was surprised. He didn't have any antidote with him, so why was he being mentioned?. He was confused still he walked to them.

Gwen motioned for him to bend down to her. His movement were slow so she grabbed his collar and pulled him towards herself, her fingers rumbled around with his collar as if searching for something. It only took few seconds and she pulled out a small leaf from within his folded collar.

Floyd looked at the girl surprised. She had pulled out the antidote from his collar and he didn't need to ask how because he already knew how it got there.

On their way here, Gwen had suddenly stopped in her tracks, he thought it was because she was afraid to see the Queen but she suddenly reached out and began helping him amend his ruffled collar "You must really be loyal to the Queen, running around the palace all day like a pet dog without even being able to dress yourself properly" she had said with a look of disdain in her eyes.

Who knew that it was all an act to use him to implement her plan. She must have been afraid that the Queen would search her for the antidote and decided to hide it on him who would be the least of Queen Jordyn's suspicions.

After chewing unto the leaf, Gwen's complexion began returning to normal. The medicinal juice from the leaf flowed down her throat dispelling every effect of the drug she had taken.

"Speak what discussion did you have with the Prince? Why did he give you the Poison?" Queen Jordyn ordered immediately she saw that Gwen had regained herself. "Don't try to lie cause I would find out and when I do, I would not hesitate to kill you myself"

Gwen felt like laughing. Why would she try to lie now when she had already been lying from the beginning. The Prince hadn't given her any poison. Who even said it was poison that she took?

That was nothing but Candy.

Yes, you heard that right, that was a sweet little candy made to look like a pill. The only difference was that a tiny component of this sweet candy wasn't conducive for her digestive system.

Few hours ago...

After crying her eyes out, she cleaned her face and walked out of the room. Coincidentally, a maid walked by her with a tray on her hand.

"aish who knew this candy was made with raad. I should have asked before giving it to His highness. Thankfully he had taken the antidote on time or else his allergies would have gotten worse" Gwen could hear the maid mutter to herself as she walked away.

On hearing the name Raad, an idea suddenly came to her mind, she hurried to the maid and stopped before she walked away.

She pretended to ask for the candy and when the maid was distracted she sneak one of the antidote from the tray. Then she hid them both in her sleeves and walked back to meet the people she had been separated from.
