Bang!
The door to the Palace courtroom flung open loudly. King Vuk and the Nobles with him were startled by the sudden noise. They looked up only for their eyes to meet a raging Prince.
Prince Arvcan surely didn't look that he minded if his actions were rude. He stumped straight to the King and stood there like a towering pillar.
The king had no option but to disperse his council of Nobles. He sighed "What bring you here Prince Arvcan?"
"You brought forward the wedding?!" He asked almost shouting. He was Furious. No doubt. His face showed just how much anger he had in his heart. It wasn't a knew sight either, days of Prince Arvcan's fury had increased the moment the wedding was announced.
King Vuk sighed again "yes I did_"
"Father!" Arvcan's roar cut him off.
"Enough!" King Vuk roared back, he wasn't ready to listen to any of Arvcan queries this morning. He already knew what this arguments was going to be about. Arvcan has come to him numerous times already to refuse the marriage, he didn't know how much long he was going to hear him repeatedly proclaim his hatred for this arranged marriage.
"Arvcan I don't want you to see this marriage as a cage, you're the only one I can entrust this responsibility too. See it more as using you to keep Greecia in check, also try to look on the bright side, marrying Princess Guinevere invariably means you are set to be the next King of Rylica."
Arvcan wasn't coaxed by the King's words, if not anything, he was even more infuriated by the thought that he had to be tied to that kingdom to become the King...Not that he even wanted to be king in the first place. If there was anyone who was least interested in this Royalty madness then it surely was him.
He scoffed "If marrying her is a criteria to being enthroned then I'll willingly give it up"
King Vuk's face darkened. He rose a brow. Displeased by Arvcan's words albeit he knew how true it was. He was the only thing standing between Arvcan and an impeding self exile. That son of his never wanted anything to do with this kingdom in the first place.
"You will marry her and that is happening in the next two weeks!" He ordered stone cold. "if there's nothing else, leave my presence"
Arvcan didn't immediately concede, he stood there returning the cold look his father was giving him. Clearly it was a stand down and he lost few minutes later. He turned and stumped out in anger.
Bang!
He pushed open the door to his quarters in a huff. Totally ignoring the two people in his room, he marched down to the wine bar and poured himself a glass of wine. Swallowed it up in a gulp and fiercely slammed the cup on the wooden table.
Alex and Darian shared a look. Darian choose to ignore the fuming Arvcan while Alex stood up and said "What did he say? What was his reasons for bringing forth the wedding?"
Arvcan spared him a look "didn't ask, don't want to know" he turned back and poured another's glass of wine, this time he didn't gulp it at once Instead he took slow sips after situating himself in one of the couches.
"I guess it's really is happening then" Alex sighed. His words caused the frown on Arvcan's face to deepen.
He hated this! He hated this wedding but for the first time he didn't have a say in something. It wasn't that he couldn't just reject the wedding and walk away but he didn't want to disappoint his father. King Vuk was the only one who looked out for him and wished for his good. He had fallen out with most of the Nobles all because of him, Arvcan would be heartless to break out with him now.
He sighed. He really wish there was a way to push the Greecia kingdom to cancel the wedding. Then he wouldn't have to be the monster this time around.
"The Princess..." Darian started but hesitated. "She might not be what you think she is" He was a young man of few words. It was rare to see him speaking on behalf of somebody and even rarer when that person was a Greecian.
He had a dark history that made him despise Greecians. His mother was a stole away from Greecia, his young father fell in love with her and wanted to marry her, he even helped hide her identity from everyone but the beautiful young woman not only abandoned their child but also ran off to go marry another man all because he was a Baron. How much she regretted it when she found out that her husband was actually a Duke. Her act of ambitiousness and selfishness has been a scar in the young man's heart so hearing him suddenly speak up for Gwen was surprising to Arvcan and Alex.
"Whoa did she bribe you or something?" Alex joked.
Darian spared him an incredulous look then went back to what he was saying "I saw..." He wanted to say what he had seen in that room but even him wasn't too sure of what he had seen, he still couldn't process what had happened.
"Don't you think there is something strange about the princess?" He asked instead.
"Nothing's strange, The Greecia King has only got better in scheming to get what they want that even the princess knows better than to act like a white lotus to make sure this marriage happens." Arvcan sneered "I wonder what is it they want to achieve this time around"
Darian didn't speak anymore, he decided to keep what he had seen to himself. It was best if he watched her from the shadows.
Alex tilted his head curiously "So now that you know the wedding is going to hold after all, what are you going to do?"
"What else? Don't they want a wedding? I'll give them just the wedding they want" He smirked. The conspiratorial tone in his voice spelled out his hidden plans. He was out for mischief no doubt. Gwendolyn surely has her days numbered out for her.
