Chapter nine
"Hey, Peter! Psst. Psst"
Peter opened his eyes to the strange whispering in his ears. Apparently the sound wasn't in his ears but over him. His parents were on either side of him, staring down at him in the bed.
"You really did look like some dead man sprawled all over the bed like this", his father teased with a big smile on his face.
Peter sat up and looked around, nothing here looked familiar.
The room was in a weird shape. It didn't have any angles, instead from the base, it looked like a half of a big sphere.
It was also painted in white all over. Not a sign of dirt was on the wall.
"Where are we at, mom", he directed the question to his mother without knowing why he did that. Maybe it was because he was certain that she'd give a reasonable response.
She shook her head to portray negativity before opening her mouth to say "no, I don't have the slightest idea whatsoever. I also just awoke"
"Well, as long as we're safe from vampires here. Besides, the door is open. We were only waiting for you to come around before deciding on what to do next. We could try using the door, it is a great starting point", Jack had added.
"But what if it's all just a trap?", Peter asked. He was being careful.
"We passed out yesterday and then we woke up here. We all awoke in a place with beds that seemed like they were massaging your back. And then the door is opened. I don't think that's ever a sign of a hostile host." Peter's dad stated . He was always a great thinker.
"Besides, I heard one of the people in the house yesterday say they weren't going to hurt us". Mummy said, her attention spent on the dirt under her nails.
"What people?", Peter asked, it was now his own turn to be confused.
"We had all passed out yesterday because it was a scheme to get us. Some people had burned something or released a kind of gas. That was what knocked us out". Luana explained.
Peter finally rose out of bed, it was time to move.
He and his parents had already begun to head for the room's exit when the impossible happened.
Out of the nothingness in the space between them and the door, three people materialized.
Three people had appeared out of nowhere into the room.
Peter jumped so high in shock and fear that he landed hard in his rear. His mother, she had yelped a little bit. Even the colour had drained from her face leaving it pale.
Only father seemed to remain unfazed, he maintained his stance and also his expression.
Peter glared at the people that had surfaced in the room. "What I'm earth just happened?", He screamed out, questioning.
He still almost didn't believe that these people had appeared and they were behaving like it was nothing big. More like what they had just done was normal.
The girl among them held her tummy, bursting into sharp laughter. She laughed for a while, then gathered herself and stopped immediately. Her hands behind her.
"We just only teleported into your room, sir Peter", the oldest man among the three strangers stated.
Did this old man say "just only teleport"? He did really make it sound like it was normal to be able to teleport. Why were all of them even wearing the same uniform? What was with the colour white and this place?
Peter was puzzled and he needed to clarify something. "How is my name something that you know so well?", Peter went on to ask.
"We'd definitely explain and shed more light on this. But first, we'll need you to come with us", the man spoke again.
"You're the man from yesterday, ain't you? You were the man in our house, right?"
"Yes", he answered. "First, we're sorry that we had to do that". He said to Peter's mom.
Peter watched his father began to seethe out his anger. He actually wasn't surprised when his father grabbed the man by the collar of his clothes.
"You aren't sorry. You literally kidnapped my family, what did you do to us yesterday?".
"Father", Peter began but he knew his father would never let it go without pointing out that his family was all that mattered to him.
"It was a colourless gas that we formulated. It skyrockets the production of Melatonin chemicals in the body", the other man said beside the old man that dad was ready to tear apart.
Peter recognized the word there. Melatonin, that was the chemical that was responsible for inducing sleep in mammals.
"Our plan wasn't to hurt you. It wasn't. You were having a hard time trying to convince your family, what made you think we'd have been successful? And besides, time wasn't on our side. Two minutes and thirty seven seconds after that time would have welcomed Dr. Mark's projects into your house".
"What do you mean by 'Dr. Mark's projects?', a puzzled Peter asked.
"Come with us, we'll explain more to you but we need Zamuel to be there too. He also needs to hear this".
The jaws of each Archer dropped opened. Even the alpha male was so shocked that he let go of the old man's clothes.
"Zamuel is here too?" Peter asked, wide eyed.
"Yes. And he might throw a tantrum. Great tantrum". The girl rolled out.
"And he'd need your comfort this morning", the old man said.
What were this people talking about? Had they done anything to his bestfriend?
