Chapter 1 - PROLOGUE

One by one, the mourners began to leave the public cemetery. Leaving a pair of siblings who were still mourning their parents' graves.

Katya Mahesa still couldn't believe that the grave in front of her was her parents' grave. Katya felt that what was happening now was just a nightmare and when she woke up later, everything would be fine.

"Let's go home. Let Daddy rest in peace."

Katya could feel the rub on her shoulder for real. Proving that what was happening now was not a dream. It was a painful reality. Less than a year after losing her mother, Katya now had to deal with the loss of the man who was her first love.

"Come on...."

Juana Mahesa helps her younger sister to stand up. Not only was Katya devastated, but Juan was equally devastated by his father's passing.

"I miss Daddy."

Juan pulled his sister's shoulders into his arms. Losing the most beloved figure is not easy to accept. However, life is a story that has been written in a predetermined line of destiny.

Arkana Mahesa suffered a heart attack before finally breathing his last. The company he built from scratch has now been destroyed because of the actions of his trusted people.

Life is like a spinning wheel. Those at the top are not always at the top, and vice versa. And now, the impact of Hakan Group's bankruptcy has changed the lives of Katya and her family.

It was hard for Katya to move out of the mansion that had kept her company for the past eighteen years. There were also many happy memories with her family in the white house.

Juan exhaled heavily after locking the fence. He stared at the sign that read 'THIS HOUSE IS IN BANK FORECLOSURE'. But Juan couldn't be weak. He was now Katya's only hope. Juan had to be Katya's protector, her sister.

Juan smiled and rubbed Katya's shoulder. "Don't be sad. You still have me. We will always be together and strengthen each other."

At least those words warmed Katya's heart. It was true. Katya still had Juan. Juan will always be there for her.

Katya let Juan take her suitcase and put it in the trunk of the taxi. They were going to move into a small, simple rented house. And start a new life with much different circumstances.

Katya looked at the family photo on her phone screen. The four people in the photo were smiling carefree smiles. Katya thought that smile would last forever. But now, she had forgotten how to smile.

It only took about twenty minutes for them to reach their destination.

Katya looked around. The rented house that she and her brother would be living in from today was certainly a lot different from their home yesterday. It wasn't very big, but it was enough for them to live in.

Juan put his arm around Katya's shoulders and let out a long sigh. "The money we have left is only enough for a rent of this size. We need to be able to manage our finances for the coming days."

"Yes. I understand. It's better than having no place to live at all."

Juna turned Katya's body so that they were facing each other. "I promise you. I'll fix our lives so we can go back to the way it used to be. We can definitely rise above this."

Katya smiled and hugged Juan tightly. "I will be strong and I will always be strong, as long as I have you by my side."

"Of course. We will always be together to face this."

The roar of motorcycle engines could be heard echoing each other. The streets that night were crowded with young people.

"Are you sure you want to join this race?"

Juan nodded confidently. "I have no choice. Now I have to be smart to make money."

"I'm sure you can do it, Bro. Good luck!"

Unbeknownst to Katya, Juan had secretly left home to enter a wild race with a prize of three thousand dollars. At the time, three thousand dollars meant nothing to Juan. But now, that money meant the rest of his life.

Juan started riding the red sports bike he borrowed from his friend - Aksa. Then he rode the two-wheeler to the starting line.

Not long after, his opponent arrived on a black sports bike. There was a stifled scream from the girls who had come to watch, as the rider took off the helmet that covered his face.

There was a look of surprise on Juan's face as he saw who his opponent was tonight. But he quickly normalized his expression.

"So you're my co-star tonight? Juana Mahesa. Long time no see, bro."

Juan chuckled. After four years of not seeing each other, now they met again at the racetrack. To be honest, Juan really didn't want to see his former best friend's face.

"I heard your father died recently. And now the Hakan Group company has gone bankrupt. Don't tell me you're racing tonight because you don't have money to eat tomorrow?"

Juan cursed himself. If he knew his opponent was Arthur Maverick, then Juan would have chosen not to participate in this race. It wasn't that he was afraid, it was just that Juan was too lazy to face him.

A sexy girl stepped forward and positioned herself between Arthur and Juan. Her hand carried a piece of cloth.

"Ready?"

Before putting on his helmet, Arthur looked at Juan with a dismissive smile. While Juan didn't care and quickly put on his helmet.

"1.... 2.... 3. Go!"

The cloth thrown into the air signaled the start of the race. The two differently colored sports bikes immediately took off, showing off each other's skills on the highway.

Arthur and Juan were good friends at first. They supported each other. Until a sudden storm hit, breaking their bond of friendship. Fighting over a girl's heart makes them compete with each other until they become enemies. Who won the girl's heart? The answer is Arthur. And the girl had an accident while making an appointment with Arthur. This made Juan angry and labeled the girl's death as Arthur's negligence who couldn't take care of her.

After a few minutes, the audience shouted out the names of both players.

"Arthur! Arthur! Arthur!"

"Juan! Juan! Juan!"

Arthur was leading at the start, but as he approached the finish line his bike slowed down, until Juan came out on top.

Instead of being happy to have conquered the race, Juan got off the bike and approached Arthur in anger.

"What are you doing?" Juan grabbed Arthur by the collar. "You lost on purpose, didn't you?"

"Relax, Brother. You won, why are you mad at me? You should be happy that you beat me."

Juan roughly released his grip on Arthur's shirt. "Don't try to pity me! I don't need your pity!"

"That's it, Bro. No need to get angry. I know you really need this small amount of money. No need to be arrogant. You're already poor now."

"FUCK!"

Juan slap Arthur's right cheek, knocking the man back a few steps.

"DON'T INSULT ME AND MY FAMILY!"

Arthur rubbed the bruise on the corner of his lip, then smiled mockingly. "Just accept the fact that you're already poor. Don't be so proud."

"FUCK!"

The two young men beat each other up. Although many people were there, no one rushed to separate the two. Instead, they were having fun with this fight. They cheered each other on, making things even more heated. Not a few also captured the moment for the sake of content on their social media.

Arthur fell to the asphalt. He laughed mockingly because he managed to provoke Juan's emotions.

"Good. You're getting better at martial arts."

Arthur stood back up.

"Now I ask you to take re-race seriously. I'm win because I can be. Not at your mercy!"

"JUAN!"

A shout from behind brought all eyes to a girl who was none other than Katya.

"What are you doing here?" Juan asked worriedly to his sister.

"I followed you earlier. Sorry."

Juan sighed softly. "Katya.... Why don't you wait at home?"

"I was worried."

"Katya?" Arthur spoke up. He looked at Katya closely from foot to head. This girl had changed a lot from the last time Arthur had seen her.

"Artur," Katya murmured.

Arthur stepped forward with his hands crossed. "You look even more beautiful and mmm..... sexy."

Suddenly Juan took a step forward, hiding his little sister behind his massive back.

Arthur laughed. "Why, bro? You're covering up my beautiful view."

"Don't mess with my sister!"

"What kind of things? Your sister is beautiful. Sexy. I'm attracted to her."

Juan was about to beat Arthur up again, but Katya held him back.

"Let's go home please." Katya squeaked in fear.

"Wait a minute, honey. We just met again. Don't rush," Arthur said, making Katya frown in displeasure.

Juan quickly swatted Arthur's hand away as he was about to touch his sister. "I told you not to mess with my sister!"

"Come on. Let's go home."

"I accept your challenge!" exclaimed Arthur, bringing Juan's movements to a halt. "Let's rematch. But this time it's a bet."

Juan paused to stare at Arthur intently.

"If you win, I'll give you ten thousand dollars."

The crowd cheered as soon as they heard the fantastic monetary nomination.

"But if I win," Arthur said, deliberately dangling it first and looking lustfully at Katya. "Your sister becomes mine."

"Shit!"

Juan, who was about to beat Arthur up, was immediately prevented by Arthur's friends.

"You don't have to worry either. I'll still give you a gift as a welcome from me, after we haven't seen each other for several years. I'll give you five thousand dollars in business capital."

The nominal amount is indeed no joke for Juan's current situation, which is in need of large capital to open a business.

"Why are you silent? Are you afraid to fight me? Don't you dare? You suck!"

The crowd's cheers made Juan even more angry.

Shit! Juan did not accept being mocked like that by Arthur.

"Juan, let's go home. Don't listen to him. You don't suck. You're great and I'm proud to have a brother like you." Katya tried to calm Juan's anger. She knew that Arthur was only provoking Juan's emotions.

"Katya, honey. Your brother sucks. He sucks. What do you have to be proud of about a loser like him?"

Katya gave Arthur a disapproving look. This was not the Arthur Katya had known in the past. Now the man looked like a total asshole. Katya hated him.

Juan's hands were clenched tightly. Not wanting his pride to be further trampled on by Arthur, Juan didn't think long and chose to accept the bet.

"I accept your challenge."

Arthur smiled with satisfaction. Supported by the crowd's exclamation at Juan's answer agreeing to the bet.

"Why did you accept the bet, why?" Katya was disappointed with Juan's answer.

"You just relax. I can definitely beat him. Trust me."

Now Arthur and Juan were ready to go racing again. On the side of the road, Katya was anxious that something might happen to Juan. Especially considering that she was the betting material in this race. Katya was terrified that Arthur would come out on top. She didn't. Katya didn't want that to happen.

As long as the race was going on, Katya only prayed that Juan would beat Arthur. However, it seemed the universe was not on her side this time. It was Arthur who came through the finish line first.

Juan kicked the tires of his bike in a fit of rage. "Argh! Fuck!"

Katya ran to Juan, but a hand from behind held her back.

"Where are you going, honey?"

Katya tried to release Arthur's grip on her hand. "Let go! Juan help me!"

Juan raised his gaze. Staring guiltily at his sister. He couldn't do anything else. He had lost this bet. And Katya had to take the brunt of it.

Arthur tugged at Katya's waist. "That's what you call a big brother? He sold you, fool!"

Katya shook her head with tears streaming down her cheeks. "Juan help me! Juan!"

Juan looked down deeply. Cursing his own stupidity. He couldn't bear to look at his sister's pleading gaze.

"What kind of brother would sell his own brother? Argh! Shit!"
