Master Li: the royal physician closed his eyes as he ran through the results of the diagnostics in his mind once again; the poison had almost spread all over Ji Min, and his veins had already begun to bulge with a strange color.
His veins were purple in some places, red in others, and finally black in some other areas of his body.
"I know someone who has cured this poison once." Master Li said with a sigh.
"But the problem is that he loathes visitors and is very greedy." Master Li added as he shook his head in pity.
"Master Li, please do whatever it t-takes." Ji Tang couldn't smoothly complete his sentence as he felt like Mount Tai was stuck inside his throat.
Master Li: just like the other physician who had come, cursed the assassin for the umpteenth time for being so vile and black-hearted.
"A long time ago, they had rushed in his daughter; just like today, but he was just as helpless as I am now, back then."
Master Li narrated as Ji Tang simply listened; he knew he would need to understand this physician who was Master Li's friend if he wanted to stand any chance of curing Ji Min.
"Though he ended up losing his precious daughter, he still devoted the rest of his life to researching the poison."
"Then after several decades of nonstop trials, he realized that the poison was made using the recipe of about thirty different poisons, which would need to be cured one after the other in a very specific sequence."
"Though he now understood the crux of the poison, a big problem still plagued him; each of these cures would require her to brew their anti-venom and antidote one after the other before administering it one after the other to the victim." Master Li added as Ji Tang frowned in thought.
"Of course, we also thought it was not a big problem; not until we realized how long it took to brew the anti-venoms."
"It would take at least three years for the best and fastest physician to brew the anti-venoms, but the Tranquil Poisoning claims the life of its victim within four weeks." Ji Tang's eyes widened in horror;
"The massive problem was time. But now that that crazy old coot had been working for several decades, I gather he would at least have the anti-venoms readily made." Master Li sighed but just as Ji Tang was about to thank him, Master Li released a bombshell.
"But as for Ji Min, I don't think he stands a chance."
"Those who have managed to cure themselves of this disease by chance were strong men who were at the Peak of Qi Sea stage and conscious, but currently, your grandson seems to be showing no signs of meeting either criterion." He added as he placed his hand on Ji Tang's shoulder.
"But don't worry, I will make a trip and drag that old coot here if I have to, but it would at least take three days."
"During the time I am away, I will prescribe some herbs and resources which would help stabilize and mitigate the symptoms a little; that might just be the speck that tips his scale of survival." Master Li added as Ji Tang once again gave a deep bow.
"Finally, I want you all to remember-"
Master Li turned around, gazing into the eyes of everyone who were present in Ji Tang's villa.
"-I was never here." He added as all the people present nodded and gave a slight bow.
"No need to send anyone to escort me; I want to see anyone who would dare make a move on me." Ji Tian who had initially wanted to send Ji Wang to escort the Royal Physician put down his slightly raised arm.
There was no one who didn't know Master Li, after all, he was the direct assistant to the Imperial Physician, and was very adept at his field.
Thus, Ji Tian had feared that the enemy might become wary that Master Li could cure his son and send someone to finish him off, but it seemed like his worries were unfounded.
Master Li stepped atop his flying sword and whipped out a scroll which he placed on his forehead; an orb of light shot out of his forehead and entered the scroll which he tossed toward Ji Tang.
"Everything you need to know and look for is in there; try to gather as much of them as possible before we arrive so that we can get to work instantly; that old coot is a person who hates delay."
He explained as Ji Tang bowed once again before watching the royal physician disappear into the night sky.
After sending off the remaining physicians with a few gifts, Ji Tian entered his room where Ji Min was laid; he sat beside him and opened the scroll the royal physician had given him as he read everything.
The disease is a very unique and potent one, each venom within it acts as a catalyst to boost the lethality of the other, and despite having developed the antidote and anti-venom for about ten of them, there are several ways with which the effects could at least be slowed.
If the activity of these venoms was managed to be reduced, then it could buy the precious time needed to develop the other anti-venoms.
"Brother."
A voice sounded and from the tone with which the voice spoke, Ji Tang understood that the assassin had successfully escaped.
Ji Tang drew in a deep breath as he tried to calm his chaotic emotions.
"What are his odds?" Ji Fang asked as he made himself visible.
"This report claims we can only buy him three days at maximum." Ji Tang replied as his sworn brother heaved another sigh.
"Do you think it's them?"
"Most likely, but I also know they aren't able to afford such methods."
"Would Master Li's method work?" Ji Fang asked further.
He also liked Ji Min a lot; not only was the kid inhumanly talented, diligent, and curious, but he was also humble and very filial.
