Chapter 3 - Hunter VS Predator!

Daniel checked his watch and realized that it was already a little over their usual breakfast time, he heaved a sigh and was just about to give up, when his rod finally saw action.

Wrrrrr!

The sound of a tiny elastic-steeled fishing line spinning through its reel flooded Daniel's ears.

He instinctively grabbed the rod securely, but just as he was about to start reeling in the fish, the spinning force of the reel suddenly doubled in speed.

Then Daniel's arms got jolted by a tug containing a significant force;

Wrrrrrrr!

The line began to spin so fast that clouds of dust began to smoke up around the reel as Daniel began to sway from side to side indicating that whatever had taken his bait was not only very agile but significantly big as well.

Daniel's lips curled up to a grin as he took a deep breath and let out a relieved sigh;

"Took you long enough." He muttered to himself with a smirk before grabbing the rod with renewed vigor and then beginning a wrestling contest with his prey.

"Stop struggling, you're fighting a lost battle here." Daniel gave his prey a very good advice when he noticed just how desperately the fish he had caught was struggling.

He continued to reel in the fish and just as his breakfast was about a few meters away from him, a subtle wave hit their yacht, followed by what seemed to be strong vibrations rippling over toward his catch.

A few seconds later, a larger wave began to zoom over from the distance and whatever it was that was coming seemed to move at a pace that was three times faster than his catch, and from the wave that was rippling over, Daniel could deduce that it was at least two times stronger as well.

Ruby stepped into the yacht from behind, just in time to see her partner reeling in his catch; she smiled and was about to go dry up herself when she noticed the large waves rippling towards the yacht, in what might seem to be a collision course.

Reacting out of instincts, she swiftly arrived by her husband and looked to the set of harpoons he had prepared just in case a big tuna caught their bait instead.

She picked one of the harpoons and looked towards her target;

"No, this won't do it." She muttered to herself before opting for another harpoon that seemed too overkill for any kind of fishing.

Carrying the harpoon that was almost as long as her height; Ruby took aim aimed like a soldier armed with a bazooka; she looked towards the incoming wave and prepared to defend their catch and their yacht.

When the intruder finally got within range, it slowly began to ascend to the surface.

"What the f-fu*k!" Daniel stuttered as Ruby's eyes became solemn.

What they were looking at what at least the biggest fin they'd ever seen in person, and it did send a wave of shiver down their spine;

"I think we've got a bigger fish to fry," Daniel muttered his thoughts;

"No honey, that would be biting more than we can chew. We need to leave and fast." Ruby responded as she looked towards her partner with a 'this is no joke' kind of gaze.

"Pull it up and get me a clear shot," Ruby added and Daniel nodded before turning back to the large fin that was now about ten meters away from their yacht.

Shifting his entire weight below his abdomen, Daniel lifted his right leg and slammed it on the floor, tightly securing himself in place; then he tensed the muscles in his arms and legs and whipped up the fishing rod with all the strength he could muster.

Daniel knew their catch weighed at least 70 pounds and to give Ruby a clear shot, he knew he had to get at least half of their target's massive body out of the water.

For a target this size, they would need to lift its prey [their breakfast; which was a mid-sized tuna.] very high into the air.

"Hah!" Daniel bellowed as his muscles bulged to the extent that his skin could endure;

Tapa!

The sound of something big splashing out of the water caught the attention of others who were also fishing at a considerable distance away.

Moments later, another larger splashing sound reverberated across the area, sending massive rippling waves all over the place that violently rocked everyone's yacht.

"W-what is t-that!?"

"Oh m-my world, it's s-so huge!"

"D-dad is t-that what I think it is!?"

Everyone within a ten-kilometer radius of the situation stuttered with bated breaths as they saw a massive tuna that was about three meters in length and at least a meter in thickness fly out of the water, heading towards the boat.

But what shocked them to the core was the massive jaw that followed suit.

This jaw was so huge that it would effortlessly bite off half of a minivan, and it burst out of the water with a level of power that sent gallons upon gallons of water pouring all over the place as it approached the flying tuna.

Realizing the level of chaos that was about to ensue, the civilians in the vicinity quickly put a considerable distance between themselves and the area where the chaos was happening.

The moment the new predator which was at least three times the size of the tuna erupted out of the water, Daniel waved the rod to the left causing the large shark to tilt its head toward its prey.

At that same moment, the deafening sound of something piercing through the air flooded the area followed by the agonizing roar of the massive predator.

Prssst!

Blood sprayed mid-air like a fountain, painting the white little yacht and its inhabitants in fresh fish blood.

The civilians watched from afar as the harpoon sunk itself deep into the shark's eyeball altering it from the path of its intended target, but on its way back into the water, the shark managed to latch on the lower half of the tuna.

Boom!

An explosion reverberated across the open waters sending tens of gallons of water into the yacht whilst creating rippling waves that pushed the other boats further away.

Ruby took cover from the heavy shower that blanketed the entire scene from the civilians' view.

Then the moment she looked towards her partner, she realized that only a single leg of his slippers was left on the yacht; both Daniel, the fishing rod, the tuna, and the massive shark seemed to have vanished into the thin air.

Ruby rushed to her feet and looked into the roiling waters in front but saw nothing; she ran to the other side of the yacht but there was no shadow of the trio in sight.

She even went to the back of the yacht and it yielded no result; and that was until she heard another loud booming sound far in the distance, followed by huge gasps from the civilians in the distance.

He looked to the front of the yacht and up ahead and saw something that made even her jaws slack in shock.

Up ahead, mid-air, was a massive predatory shark, with half of a smaller tuna in its jaws, and finally a slender muscle-toned male, grabbing onto the upper fin of this predatory beast whilst lunging a bloody harpoon towards the head of the predatory beast.

"That guy is crazy!"

"He's gone bonkers!"

"That balls on that guy!"

"He's got guts."

"Yeah, he's got balls in his guts."

The spectating civilians threw out all sorts of comments as they watched the attached trio descend back into the waters.

What happened next was an even more unbelievable sight; the massive shark who now had its target in its grasp refused to let go, and Daniel who had toiled all day for the same target was hell-bent on returning with his catch.

Due to this, he ended up being dragged by the shark farther away from the shore.

"Why do you have to go through this much trouble; it's just one tuna!" Ruby gritted her teeth as she watched her stubborn beloved shark ski towards the open waters.

"Give me back my lunch, you twat!" Daniel bellowed as he grabbed onto the shark's fin with one hand and with the other the lethargic tuna's gills.

Four of his fingers were already inside the gills of the tuna with a hooking gesture as he tried to yank away the tuna from the shark's jaws.

"Give it here!"

Daniel yelled once again before gathering all his upper body muscle strength and then yanking the tuna right out of the shark's mouth. but in that same moment, Daniel's hand slipped off the shark's fin;

"Oh crap!"

Daniel cursed as a horrible realization dawned on him; the shark had been moving at its top speed trying to shake him off its body, thus, falling off its back at this point would be akin to falling off a car moving at top speed.

Daniel hurriedly tried to balance himself, but the moment his foot touched the water;

Crack!

His ankle shattered.
