After marking down attendance, the teacher looked at the students.
"I'm going to go through the list of announcements, but I'm only going to do it once, so listen carefully."
While most of the students were attentively watching their teacher, Andrew and another student were quietly murmuring at the back of the room.
Sighing to herself, the teacher snapped her fingers.
A small fireball began to form on top of her fingers and began to dance above it.
Once it reached the size of a small marble, she pointed in the direction of the quietly murmuring students.
"Go."
The fireball whizzed through the air, amazing the students who saw it pass right by their faces.
The fireball reached the group at the back in almost no time, and when it did, the fireball exploded into countless tiny sparks.
*Bang*
The loud noise coming from the exploding firework alerted Andrew and the boy beside him, causing them to jump in a panic.
"Whaa!"
"What happened?"
Looking around with confusion, they saw their class watching them with amused looks on their faces.
Their teacher however looked as bored as could be.
"Do you want to share what it was you were discussing with the class?"
Realizing that they were punished for speaking out of turn, the two promptly apologized.
"Sorry, Ms. Ashford!"
They hung their head low as they tried to ignore all of the stares they were receiving.
Seeing that she finally had the class's undivided attention, Ms. Ashford pulled out a tablet and began to read out loud.
"As you all… or at least most of you may remember, the school sports day is next Tuesday. If any of you decide to play hooky, remember that there will be consequences."
She threw a look in Lucian's direction.
Averting his eyes, Lucian feigned ignornace.
"Sigh… Just don't do anything that would upset the school board. That applies for all of you."
Ms.Ashford continued to read through the itinerary she was provided by the school for another 10 minutes.
Going over other information that the school board had wanted her to inform the students in her class.
However nothing was as important as the school sports day.
Following that, she let the class have some free time before their first class started.
Seeing that he finally had some time to himself, Lucian put his head onto his desk and closed his eyes.
Even though he had come, he was still feeling quite tired after yesterday's ordeal.
'I should be able to at least get some sleep now.'
Unfortunately life wasn't that simple.
"Lucian please help me out!"
An energetic voice called out.
'Sigh… I fucking jinxed it.'
"What is it, Ethan?" Lazily lifting his head, Lucian replied.
"We have a quiz first period!"
Lucian nodded his head tiredly.
"Yeah and? Ms. Ashford told us a week in advance."
Ethan ran over and clug to Lucian's arm.
"Please buddy, I need your help to not fail!"
Lucian raised an eyebrow.
"What? Did you not study or something?"
Ethan looked away with a somewhat guilty look.
Lucian's eyebrow twitched.
"You lazy fucker…"
"It's not my fault! The new Light Souls just came out, I needed to grind out a 100% run!"
"Not even studying so you could play Light souls… Are you some kind of idiot?"
Ethan gave Lucian an annoyed gaze.
"You don't study either!"
"Yeah, cause I don't need to. This stuff is too easy."
'Also, showing off too much isn't my thing.'
Lucian turned to James.
"Tell me that you studied at least."
James gave Lucian a somewhat annoyed look.
"Don't lump me with him. I already finished studying."
"Only having to tutor one person is still better than having to tutor two I guess," Lucian sighed, "all right, bring your table here, I'll help you out. But first, let go of me."
Hearing Lucian's reply instead of letting go, Ethan gave him a full on bear hug.
"Thanks brother! No matter what, I'll always be your friend!"
"Yeah, if you leave him whom else will keep you from failing?" James teased.
After taking a moment to escape from his grasp, Lucian pushed Ethan away.
Ethan looked at Lucian with a look of shock.
"Is it just me or did you get a little stronger? I guess your training with the goddess really paid off!"
Lucian shot Ethan an irked look.
"One more word, and you can kiss your last minute prep goodbye."
"Ok deal! I won't say another word, so help me!"
"Your shamelessness knows no bounds."
James raised an eyebrow when he heard this.
"You have no right to say that Lucian, after all… His shamelessness came from none other than you."
"That's slander! I'm an honest upright person!"
James gave him a look that screamed 'yeah right.'
"Luciaaannnn lets start please! We only have around 30 minutes left!" Ethan cried.
"Yeah, yeah"
Lucian bent over to reach his bag and pulled out a textbook labeled 'Modern History: A Brief History of Gates and Powers '
"Lets get started."
