Chapter 32 - Crash into the Wall

As soon as the bones that had been soaked in sauce for several hours were served, a group of people surrounded them.

Lin Herong held the bone and munched on it. As he ate, he praised Lin Luo's culinary skills. "Fortunately, we met Miss Lin. Otherwise, we would have starved to death."

Qi Zhou didn't say anything, but he didn't stop eating.

Besides Yang Zheng, the person with the best table manners in this group of people was Yan Su. The others held the bones as they ate them, but Yan Su held one side of the bones with a handkerchief as he dissected the meat from the bones, then placed the meat in a bowl. Finally, he ate the pieces of meat in the bowl.

Lin Luo shook her head.

Why was this silly scholar so particular about table manners?

Yan Su scooped out a soft-baked potato and took a bite before asking Lin Luo, "What is this?"

This taste was different from anything he had ever eaten before.

Potatoes were from the southern hemisphere and only appeared in the modern era.

"This thing is called potatoes. It's filling and tastes delicious." Lin Luo had no intention of hiding it. "I dug them up in the small forest behind my house. There's still a lot left in the kitchen."

With the farmer's market's abundant resources, she couldn't suck things up just to hide it.

The others also tried the potatoes. They were indeed quite delicious.

It was creamy and soft! It was soft on the inside, and there was the taste of sauce and bones outside.

When Yan Su entered the kitchen to get food, he saw more than half a bag of potatoes in the corner.

He twisted the thin layer of soil on the potato skin. It indeed matched the soil in the small forest.

After dinner, Lin Herong and Qi Zhou brought people to measure the width and length of the courtyard door.

Yan Su said to Lin Luo, "I plan to go to the town to get some furniture tomorrow. If you're free, why don't you come with me to check out the styles?"

Lin Luo thought about it and nodded.

Speaking of which, she had never been to a town even once since she transmigrated.

The farmer's market had everything she needed, so why go through the trouble?

In any case, Lin Luo didn't want to give herself unnecessary trouble.

-

The next morning, Yan Su changed into the latest set of student clothes. He didn't tie his hair into a square bun, but in a ponytail instead. A few strands of loose hair scattered on his forehead. The sky-blue headband matched the periwinkle blue uniform, making him look less aloof and unapproachable. Instead, he looked more youthful and gentle.

Yang Zheng leaned against the wall as he dozed off. From the corner of his eye, he saw Yan Su's outfit and muttered, "Where did this peacock come from?"

Yan Su was speechless.

After knocking on the door, Yan Su saw Lin Luo planting things in the courtyard.

Lin Luo was wearing a burlap shirt that was very suitable for rough work.

When he approached, he saw that what Lin Luo was planting were cut potatoes. Lin Herong squatted at the side as he helped Lin Luo bury them in the soil and water them.

Lin Herong liked to eat potatoes, so when he heard that Lin Luo wanted to plant potatoes, he came over to help.

After Lin Luo looked up, her eyes lit up when she saw Yan Su's outfit.

Yan Su was usually very aloof, but this was the first time she had seen such a down-to-earth side to him.

Not bad. He was eye candy.

Lin Herong also raised his head, but his reaction was much more intense than Lin Luo's. He widened his eyes and was about to speak when Yan Su glared at him.

"Wait a moment. I'll go change," Lin Luo said as she prepared to leave.

Lin Herong was puzzled. "Miss Lin, didn't you just say that this outfit is warm and convenient to wear and is most suitable for going out in?"

Lin Luo shook her head seriously. "Such clothes are only suitable for rough work and not for going out in."

After a while, Lin Luo came out again.

She had entrusted Zhang Wei to buy suitable clothes. Other than the style she had requested, Zhang Wei had also brought back a plum-dyed dress with a peach-colored collar. Lin Luo accepted it with the mentality that it would be a waste not to take it, but she didn't expect it to come in handy today.

Yan Su only took a glance before looking away.

On the other hand, Lin Herong chased after Lin Luo and said, "Miss Lin, you're already good-looking, but you look even more gorgeous in this outfit."

"I wonder if you're in a relationship with anyone? If not, why don't you consider me? I'll leave all my savings to you. I don't have any elders at home anymore, so you'll be in charge of our family."

Yan Su couldn't take it anymore. "Qi Zhou."

Qi Zhou suddenly appeared and pulled Lin Herong away by the collar.

"Hey, don't pull me. I still have something to say to Miss Lin."

Lin Luo laughed.

Among Yan Su's group of friends, Lin Herong's personality was the most outgoing.

Lin Luo looked even more petite in this dress. Her lips were rosy, and her teeth were white. The vivid wave-shaped mark on her face didn't look ugly, but beautiful instead.

When she smiled, she didn't give off a vivacious feeling. Instead, she looked even more leisurely and reminded one of a noble cat.

Yan Su's heart skipped a beat.

"Let's go." Lin Luo carried the small basket on her back as she walked forward. Qi Zhou had prepared the mule cart outside. He was going to be a coachman today and send the two of them to the town.

Lin Luo got into the cart first and placed the basket beside her.

Yan Su sat on the other side of the mule cart. From the corner of his eye, he saw bags of tinfoil in the basket on his back. He could vaguely smell the faint smell of seafood.

"I dried some prawns and plan to sell them at the market," Lin Luo said.

She should at least have some sort of income on the surface so that she could explain herself when she took out something in the future.

Yan Su nodded silently.

They didn't speak along the way. When they arrived outside the town, Qi Zhou didn't follow the two of them in. Instead, he waited outside.

Coincidentally, the carpenter Yan Su was looking for lived at the edge of the market.

Lin Luo followed Yan Su to choose furniture styles.

The carpenter had a small house here. Other than half-finished products, there were a few finished furniture. After Lin Luo picked out the styles, she handed the carpenter a bag of dried prawns. "Sir, can I borrow your place to sell something?"

"Miss, if you want to set up a stall, just set it up. What are you selling?" Yan Su and Lin Luo's order was very big, so the carpenter was already beaming with joy and insisted on not accepting Lin Luo's things.

Lin Luo smiled. "Try it. If you think my dried prawns taste good, come patronize my business more often."

Only then did the carpenter accept it. After Lin Luo went out to set up the stall, the carpenter said to Yan Su, who was still choosing, "Your wife is really competent and efficient. You're lucky to have such a good wife."

Yan Su didn't say anything.

After a while, he said with reddened ears, "Give me two pieces of furniture according to the style requested by that lady."

"Good things happen in pairs." The carpenter smiled even more teasingly. "Are you guys preparing for some happy occasion?"

Yan Su secretly glanced at Lin Luo, who was at the door. Seeing that she was talking to a woman who had come to ask for the price, he murmured, like he was agreeing.

"Then I'll give you a discount. Take it as my gift." The carpenter smiled happily. When others wanted to hold a wedding, he wouldn't give gifts, nor was it his responsibility to give gifts. However, he liked Lin Luo, so he would give them a discount as a gift.

Yan Su felt his throat go dry as heat rushed to his head.

Even though his mind was blank, he didn't forget to thank the carpenter.

"Miss, how much are these dried prawns?" the woman with the basket asked Lin Luo.

Lin Luo scratched her forehead. "What do you think?"

"These dried prawns look dry and there doesn't seem to be much meat. Moreover, seafood isn't worth much in our coastal area. How much tinfoil do you have?" the auntie asked.

"Footweight."

"Then I'll give you ten copper coins." After the woman said that, she said critically, "These dried prawns don't look big."

Lin Luo nodded numbly. Only then did the auntie smile. "How many bags do you have? I'll wrap them all up!"

After selling all the dried prawns to the auntie, Lin Luo walked back with 50 copper coins. When she turned around, she saw Yan Su banging his head against the wall with red ears.

Lin Luo was once again speechless.
