Chapter 37 - If You're Timid, I'll Give You a Wolf Dog

They were both granddaughters of the Lin family, so Lin Ying and Lin Luo looked a little similar.

However, Lin Ying's eyes were always filled with schemes and greed, unlike Lin Luo's almond-shaped eyes, which gave off a feeling of wonder and charm.

"Miss Lin Ying, please respect yourself." Yan Su hid his hands in his sleeves and frowned coldly.

Lin Ying's eyes froze with a sad look on her face. "Brother Yan, I've already done so much. Why are you still unwilling to accept me?"

Yan Su turned a deaf ear and walked back.

Upon seeing this, Lin Ying lowered her head and bit her lip.

She had seen many men, and her family had taken a fancy to many, like men from well-off families or butchers with houses in the town…

Lin Ying didn't like any of them. How could she be willing to accept them when a man as outstanding as Yan Su was around?

"Brother Yan, there's a vacancy in the government office. The county magistrate plans to let the nearby village chief recommend talents. If you marry me, I'll let my grandfather recommend you," Lin Ying took a few steps forward and said in a hoarse voice.

Yan Su glanced back at Lin Ying meaningfully before returning to his room without looking back.

Lin Ying's mind went blank and her pretty face flushed.

Did Yan Su think that she was superficial? Or did he look down on her?

She had never been so embarrassed before!

Many thoughts flooded her mind, but then her mind went blank. After Lin Ying lowered her head and walked out, she was stopped by Qi Zhou.

Qi Zhou stared at Lin Ying's double eyelids.

"Miss, were you really so worried that your single eyelids became double eyelids?"

Lin Ying walked past him.

Qi Zhou wasn't angry when he didn't receive a response. The girl's steps weren't as big as his, so he followed her slowly. From time to time, he would ask Lin Ying, "It's quite worth it if you can get double eyelids just from worrying too much. Are your double eyelids permanent?"

Lin Ying's expression darkened and she felt the urge to kill someone.

"I pulled it out bit by bit! I pulled it out!"

"It's not permanent! It's not caused by worry! It'll be gone in a while!"

"I also lengthened my eyelashes by pulling them one by one, so much so that my eyelids and hands hurt!"

"I've told you everything. Are you satisfied now?!"

Lin Ying shouted.

Qi Zhou was stunned for a moment. Then, he stared at Lin Ying's flushed face as he said, "Miss, your blush is quite pretty. Where did you buy it?"

Lin Ying completely lost it. She screamed and ran away while crying, "You guys are too much! You guys are too much!"

"Miss…" Qi Zhou chased after her, but when he saw the bruised and swollen Lin Herong walking towards him with a gossipy expression, he didn't chase after her anymore.

Lin Herong looked at Lin Ying's departing figure and then at Qi Zhou. He touched his chin as he said teasingly, "Have you taken a fancy to her? How come you made her cry?"

"Don't talk nonsense. I just asked her some questions," Qi Zhou said with a serious look.

"Don't try to lie. When have you ever taken the initiative to talk to a girl?"

Qi Zhou was speechless.

Qi Zhou rubbed his eyebrows. "I was really asking questions. Isn't my sister's birthday in a few months? I haven't been able to accompany her for the past few years, so I thought of giving her some gifts on her birthday." However, he was a man and really didn't know what girls liked.

Today, when he saw Lin Ying's double eyelids, Qi Zhou remembered that his sister wasn't smart and looked average, so he wanted to ask Lin Ying for guidance.

He couldn't do anything about her IQ, but they could still do something about her face.

Lin Herong's eyes lit up as he wrapped his arm around Qi Zhou's shoulder. "So you're going to pick a birthday gift for our sister. Ask me! I know how to make little girls happy."

"I remember that our sister has been timid since she was young, so why don't we give her a big wolf dog? That way, we won't have to be afraid of our sister being bullied."

Qi Zhou frowned and thought for a moment. "Fair enough."

After Lin Luo left Madam Fang's house, she was in no hurry to go home.

There was no progress on the matchmaker's side, so it was time to carry out Plan 2. Lin Luo looked towards the west of the village.

Lin Luo followed the path to the entrance of the Qiao family's house.

On the other hand, the Qiao family had been very unlucky recently. The entire family was lazy and they had been forced to send everything back to Lin Luo.

The family barely even had any pots to cook with.

Mr. Qiao wasn't a diligent person, but seeing that the house was so empty that even rats didn't come to the door, he planned to use the fishing net to go fishing tomorrow and see if he could catch anything.

Before leaving, he glanced at the few of them and asked, "Which one of you is going to dry the fishing net with me?"

Mrs. Qiao squatted in the courtyard as she fed the chickens a small handful of vegetables and shouted, "I'm busy. Let the children help you."

"Father, I can't go. I'll go bald from the sun. If I go bald and can't get married, I'll be sent to the military camp. I'm your biological daughter, so you definitely can't bear to let me go." Qiao Xiaohua sat beside the water tank as she lamented sadly.

Mr. Qiao looked at Qiao Dahua, who was the only one who was sleeping leisurely.

Qiao Dahua yawned. "Dad, if you want me to do it, you might as well just let me starve to death."

Mr. Qiao snorted with a dark expression. "You guys are so lazy! What a family of lazy women!" With that, he left angrily.

He walked too quickly and the fishing net was too full, so he didn't even see Lin Luo brush past him and enter the Qiao family's courtyard.

"Auntie Qiao," Lin Luo greeted with a smile.

She felt that she was cute, kind, and gentle, but Auntie Qiao pinched the vegetable leaves and the juice splashed on her face.

Qiao Xiaohua plunged into the water tank.

Qiao Dahua instantly changed her demeanor and rushed past Lin Luo energetically as she said loudly, "Dad! Wait for me! I'm here to help you dry the fishing net!"

Lin Luo touched the tip of her nose sheepishly.

Seriously?

"Miss Lin, why are you here again?" Mrs. Qiao blocked the chickens behind her. "Although you helped me feed the chickens for a few days, I bought these chickens!"

There were only these few chickens left at home.

She couldn't let Lin Luo take them away.

"I'm not here for the chickens," Lin Luo said.

Mrs. Qiao still didn't let down her guard. "My husband made these remaining stools. It has nothing to do with you."

"I didn't come for the stool either."

If they weren't here for material goods, could it be that… she wanted them to go do manual labor again?

Mrs. Qiao felt dizzy. In the decades since she married into the Qiao family, she had never been so tired as when working for Lin Luo.

"The fishing net is not easy to dry, so I'll help you too!" Mrs. Qiao made a prompt decision. She threw down the basket and ran out as she said to Lin Luo perfunctorily, "You can play by yourself."

Lin Luo was once again speechless.

Qiao Xiaohua was also speechless.

After the two of them looked at each other, Lin Luo took the initiative to ask Qiao Xiaohua, "Are you going to help your father dry the fishing net?"

Qiao Xiaohua smiled dryly. "That's right. Sister Luoluo, treat this as your own home. Sit wherever you want. I'll go now." With that, she flicked her wet hair and slipped away.

After Qiao Sheng returned while humming, he sat down and narrowed his eyes as he shouted, "Bring me a bowl of water!"

A bowl of water was brought to Qiao Sheng.

Qiao Sheng wanted to curse when he realized the water was cold, but when he opened his eyes, he saw Lin Luo smiling at him.

Upon seeing this, Qiao Sheng choked on the water and coughed violently.

Lin Luo helped pat his back.

The more Lin Luo patted his back, the more Qiao Sheng coughed.

In the end, Qiao Sheng jumped off the stool and knelt down for Lin Luo.

Lin Luo was once again speechless.

She kept feeling that the Qiao family had some misunderstanding about her. She was clearly a kind girl.
