Chapter 23 - Marriage

"Your highness! Please think this over! To marry your sister-in-law!? You would be-"

"Would be what?"

Meng Chang glared at the minister, making them lower their head instinctively.

"Where is father-in-law? he's not here at his daughters wedding?"

They lowered their heads even further.

"Never mind!"

Meng Chang couldn't care less.

"The bride has arrived!"

Meng Chang held a red rope out for Liao Ling to grab.

He smiles gently. And softly speaks.

"Liao Ling, you've arrived."

Just hearing his voice caused the bloodlust in her to go out of control, but she quickly restrained it and quietly nodded her head.

They walk up to do the ceremony.

They bow once to heaven and earth.

They bow twice to the guardians (Parents).

Liao Ling had only one thought.

'Meng Yu, I'm sorry. You wouldn't want to see this...but...'

They turn and bow to each other.

"THE BRIDE GOES TO THE BRIDAL CHAMBERS!"

Liao Ling walks off with a batch of servants as Meng Chang entertained the guests.

....

....

....

*Screech*

Meng Chang opens the door and heads towards Liao Ling. His desire now full. Both the heaven and earth was fully his!

Meng Chang picked up the red stick to pull up the bridal mask, but Liao Ling grabs a hold of it, stopping him from removing it.

"Ling'er, you!"

He was confused! What was she doing? Just then her voice broke the suspense.

"We've already bowed to heaven and earth, parents, and to each other. This ceremony won't be complete if you never take my headdress off though, right?"

"Huh? Ling'er what are you talking about?"

He held a knife behind his back.

"ACh URAGH!"

He felt the knife raise in temperature and instinctively dropped it.

She kneed him the stomach, causing him to throw up all the food and drinks that he had consumed.

"Y-you witch! I-I'm the emperor, I'm protected by the heavens!"

"I thought about it while I was walking from that shed to my home, from there to here. How to cruelly take revenge."

Her bright clear eyes were now mature, calm, domineering. Right, those eyes were those of the....Empress's.

"Then I figured it out. You killed your family for the throne, so I'll take that. You want to be viewed as great emperor? I'll throw your nude corpse out in public for everyone to see."

"HAHAHA, Have you gone crazy?! A women sitting on the dragon throne?"

"It'll work...especially since they let you sit on it."

Her hand burned brightly.

"And if they don't."

She easily grabs Meng Chang's neck.

"They'll burn, all of them if need be."

"AGGGGGGAGGGGGGAAHGGGAHGGH!!!!!!"

Meng Chang couldn't even speak as he was too busy being lit up from the head and up.

This flame was burning more than just the physical body. No it was something more, something essential to all beings.

Though this was the first time she had used her newfound powers, she could tell,

She was burning....Meng Chang's very soul.

As she looks at the ash remnants.

"This is just the start."

...

.....

...

.....

....

Thus began a cleansing. Those who retaliated were killed and burned. Fearing never being able to enter the reincarnation cycle, they bowed their heads to the new empress. The ashes of Meng Chang were mixed in dung and feces by the lowest of servants.

A statue and nameplate of Meng Yu was built near the throne, all who bowed to her had to bow to Meng Yu first.

Quite the contrary to expectations, Liao Ling with the forces of her father created a long lasting era of peace. Though people feared her, she was also revered as a saint.

Slowly as time passed, the spiritual air enhanced several thousands of times in a instant, allowing people to cultivate.

Liao Ling till now still had a strong hold of the power and everyone was willing to follow her lead.

...

.....

.....

.....

1,000 years passed.

Liao Ling became a Great Immortal in the 2nd level. This level in such a short amount was nothing less of impossible. But she had managed to do so.

Out of curiosity, she now had the ability to search the underworld and be unaffected by the laws of nature.

She could easily revive someone whenever she wanted.

When every soul entered the reincarnation cycles, their past gets written down and are placed in a book.

However when she began to search for Meng Yu, she found zero traces. It was as if he had never existed.

She could think of only one reason, and that was that she had absorbed a strange light that day.

Knowing she might have taken the chance for her husband to reincarnate, tears fell down her cheeks for the first time in 1,000 years.

....

....

...

....

10,000 years passed

Liao Ling sat on a throne with her domineering presence reading through the reports for the day.

"It seems like nothings changed." She boringly reads through them in a instant.

She got up, looked at the statue and left for her room.

*uwaaa*

Strangely she hears crying and decides to check it out.

"Hm? Hua'er why are you crying?"

"Y-Your majesty! I-sniff! I read something that reminded me of the past!"

Hua'er was the servant by her side when they were still considered mortals. In fact, the people close to her had benefited from her and gained a strong cultivation.

Hua'er was in the stage immortal at level 1.

"The past? Sigh~ did you read something idiotic?"

Liao Ling smile gently at her and wipes her tears.

"T-this is the book! I had almost forgotten about the past, but when I read this-I couldn't stop crying!"

[The Imperialistic might]

"Hm? What is this terrible naming sense? haha, where did you even find this, at a street vendor?"

Hua'er kept quiet, intriguing Liao Ling even more.

"W-What is this!?? Where did you find this!???"

The pages flipped showing images.

A girl in red running away after failing her disguise as a man. A girl and a blind boy marrying. The girl relentless attitude to the blind boy. The blind boy using a sword to kill his older brother and failing.

The final page was the view of the blind boy. The fires lit as he closes his eyes. His thoughts revealed in the book.

[I have one regret among many, but this one is my biggest....I wished we could have...done a proper wedding ceremony.]

Liao Ling, was now a Emperor Immortal and her memory was extremely good. She could now remember every detail in the past and present.

"Hua'er tell me! Where did you find this!?"
