It was the coldest evening Washington DC had that winter. And though she had looked everywhere, Summer couldn't find the shawl that kept her toasty warm in such weather.
"This is starting to become ridiculous!" she said, planning a full closet clean out the next weekend. Two things happened inside of her at the same time when that thought lingered a bit too long. The first thing was the sickening realization that what she passed as just any other weekend might still prove to be the final weekend of her entire life. And the simultaneous refusal of the sickening realization, a beam of light in that darkness, many images of her time together with her new self appointed boyfriend that was currently missing in action.
"Hmph," she made an uninterested sound, completely lying to herself about her own feelings.
