CHAPTER 32
Days has been going smoothly for Scarlett. There wasn't so much to worry about in work as well. All except for Natasha Moore.
Avoiding her seemed to be the only solution to that.
As for Mr Wilson, he called to plead with Arsenio to consider his company for the project. But Arsenio and ended the call abruptly.
He called Scarlett but she didn't have a say in it. It was not her company. Even when she spoke to Arsenio about it, he punished her with staying overtime at work and warned never to bring that topic up for discussion again.
So that page was closed for good. As for her search for her parents' murderer, it was not going as she wanted. Basically because she has no idea how to find the person.
"How do I go about this?" Scarlett sighed. Just then an idea came to her mind. She quickly picked up her phone and made a call.
"Hello, Scarlett."
"Hi, Ron. How do you do?"
"Same old same old. Nothing new. To what do I owe this pleasure?" Ron asked.
"Right. I'm sorry to disturb you but could you do me a favour. I'll send your favourite pepperonis pizza to your place if you can," Scarlett bit her lip in anticipation.
"You know when you make an offer like that, I can't refuse. Tell me what you want me to do."
"Thank you. Well, I want you to help me get all information on a man named Mark Robinson. Especially his current whereabouts and his activities during the past month till date."
"Mark, your family butler? I thought he died in that fire," Ron's tone held a mix of confusion.
He knew about Scarlett's parents' tragic death. And they were told there was no survivors. So how come she is looking for the supposed dead family butler?
"It beats me too, Ron. I ran into him some days back and he acted strangely. So I am having suspicions and I want to clarify."
"I see."
"Yeah. For me to know about my parents' murderer, I need a place to begin my search.l so I'm holding on to this new lead."
"Yeah, you should. I will help you with it. I also want to find the cruel person that killed your parents and make sure justice is done."
"Me too. Thanks again, Ron. Call me when you get anything. Even if it's the smallest of details there is. Notify me, will you please?"
"Sure. I will hang up now. Don't forget to have that pizza knocking on my door before nightfall," Ron reminded her before they put an end to the call.
"I will do that as soon as I hang up. Bye, Ron."
"Cool. Bye."
After ordering Ron's pizza, Scarlett slumped back into the chair and let out a long sigh as she stared ahead.
"Mom, dad, I will avenge you even it means risking my life," Scarlett vowed.
~In the Realm of Drak Magic~
In the dressing room of one of the chambers in the royal palace, several maids busied themselves with adorning a fair lady. While some were making adjustments to her dress, the rest were adorning her with beautiful pieces of jewelry and make up.
Once they were done, they stepped aside and let her see the fruit of their work in the full body mirror. In the mirror was the image of a beauty that must be acknowledged.
On her is a dark blue mermaid dress that hugged all of her luscious curves that has veiled sleeves. It was paired with silver jewellery that had gemstones that matches the dress.
"Hmm, how do I look?" The woman asked.
"You look magnificentlt beautiful, your majesty."
"Yes. Your beauty shines brighter than a full moon in a night sky."
Each of them showered her with praises of her beauty and how fitting the dress was for her and only her. Satisfied, her red lips pulled up into a smile.
"You all are right. There's no one as beautiful as I am," she boasted of herself.
Just then, knock came on the door and the voice of a male was heard from behind it.
"Your majesty, Lord Donovan seeks an audience with you."
"Donovan? Well, let him in," she turned to the maids. "You're excused for the meantime."
"Thank you, your grace." With that, they left the room in a single file and Lord Donovan came in.
"Donovan, greets her majesty, the most beautiful queen in all history of Darkria," he bowed as he paid his respect.
"Rise, Lord Donovan and have a seat," the queen offered him a seat opposite her in the small table in the visiting area.
"Thank you, your majesty."
"Layla, get us some refreshments," she ordered her personal maid who didn't leave the room with the others.
"So, what brings the head of the dark council of Darkria to my royal chambers?"
Donovan cleared his throat and adjusted in his chair. "Your majesty, I bring worries from the other members of the dark council. We are–"
"Is it about that half-demon spawn on the other side of the realm?" The queen interrupted him midway.
"Yes, your majesty. You see–" he was yet again interrupted by the arrival of Layla.
After serving them the refreshments, she was sent out by the queen so that their private discussion could continue without much worries.
"You may continue," the queen urged him and picked up her cup of tea.
"The council has its worries. Days have passed since his highness went to the human realm to get rid of that key. But we haven't received any news about the half breed's reaction to this."
"So, your point is?"
"By now, words should have reached us that that half breed is perturbed by the revelation of what happened. But nothing till now. We worry, that his highness may have gone ahead to destroy the wrong key, your majesty."
BAM
As soon as those words dropped from Donovan's lip, the queen slammed her hand on the table causing the tea to spill and bringing Donovan to shock.
"Do you dare to say that my son and your prince has failed in doing his task?"
