Jeff's Pov:-
How do I know Xavier? Should I tell him? But what if he hurts him? Stupid, he tried hurting you by giving you some damn pills! "The other night, he came to our store to buy some beer and cigarettes." He placed his hands under his chin. His chin resting on back of his hand and his elbow on the table. He nodded. "And?" And what? "He asked me on a d-date and I--"
"And you said yes. You'll go on a date with any handsome man you see?" He cut me off. Well, yes it was my fault for saying yes. I should've taken some time and then said yes. I was kinda embarrassed because a random man was making me feel like kid getting shoutings. I fidgeted with my fingers and didn't make eye contact. "Do you know who he is? Did he tell you what kind of work he does?"
I mean he did tell me that he works in his dad's company. "His dad's company." I kept biting my lips. I heard his scoff. "Lies. Everything he told you was a lie to kidnap you. Do you realise that you could've died?" Oh fish. I knew I was stupid but this stupid? I felt the urge to apologise but didn't. I was putting my own life in danger. I don't need enemies if I'm this dumb. But how did he know that? "How do you know that I was going to be kidnapped?"
He removed a file from his drawer and kept it on the table. "Have a look." He said. I made my way and took the file. It had my photo and my details. What is he? A stalker? I gave him a confused look. I turned the page and saw a woman's photo. She had blonde hair and her eyes were the same as me. Brown. Cara Garfield. Why do I feel like I know her? My head started hurting and I felt as if I was having flashbacks. "Are you okay?" I heard a voice ask me. I nodded but I couldn't stand straight. The file fell from my hands and I stood from the support of the table. "Fuck..." I heard him curse.
"Sweetie, promise me you won't come out until I tell you?" The woman was sweating. Her hair was a mess. She closed the door of the closet but not before giving me a forehead and saying "Remember, I always loved you." I stayed there, hugging my knees, terrified. A few seconds later, I heard gunshots. I immediately opened the closet door and ran outside. "Mom! Mom!" Scared that my mom will leave me, I ran out of the room. I saw that everything was broken. Blood was everywhere. I saw a man laying-- "Jeff, she's alive. She is." He was coughing blood.
I ran outside while screaming. I didn't know when I started running on the road and suddenly I felt a sharp pain all over my body and I blacked out.
[Third person's pov:-] Cause it's better.
Jeff fell down as his head started hurting again. "You'll be fine, breath in. Breath out." The man held his hands and rubbed them. Jeff had started to black out as his body was giving up but as he was hearing the man's instructions, his body started doing as he said on it's own. "Are you okay? Do you need something?" Jeff placed his hands on his heart and layed his head back on the table. "I-- I'm fine." He gulped, covered in sweat. He started thinking about the scene he just saw in his mind. Who was that woman? And that dead man? Those gunshots? What were they?
Jeff wanted the answers and he knew he'll find them. Right now, only one person can help him. The man in front of him. "Can you stand up? I'll take you to your room." Jeff shook his hand, he could stand up without his help. But the man wouldn't let him. He won't hurt his little precious thing. He helped him get up and made him sit on the chair. He passed him a glass of water which Jeff gulped down and satisfied his throat. "That woman, who is she?" He pointed to the woman in the file. The man went back on his seat. "She's Cara Garfield. Your mom."
For a second, Jeff's world was spinning again. His mom? Jeff lived with his Uncle in Ember Town. According to his uncle, his mom passed away rights after giving birth and his dad ran away from the responsibility of taking care of Jeff. He had never seen his mom. "She's alive?" Jeff asked, his eyes gleaming with curiosity and hope. "She's not." The answer made him disappointed.
"We'll get on this business later. I'm Carlos. Xavier's brother." That explained why he looked so similar to Xavier. "I'm Jeff Garfield." Both of them shook hands. "Do you know where your Uncle is right now, Jeff?"
Jeff's Uncle disappeared one day and later was found in a forest. His body was burnt so police had some difficulty in finding who it was but soon found that his was his Uncle when he wore the exact ring. The killers are still unknown because of lack of evidence. "He's dead. Someone killed him and burnt him. I still don't know who it is." That was the reason why Jeff left his town. "Are you sure he's dead?" Carlos's question was a bit weird, thought Jeff. "Of course, I've seen his body. He had the same ring I got him." Carlos opened his drawer again and placed an exact same ring. Gold with red diamond. "How..." Jeff was left speechless. He picked up the ring and it had the same craving "Samuel".
"He's alive, Jeff."
