CHAPTER TWO: CATHERINE SET A GROUND RULES FOR PHYSICIAN JOHN
One night, when everyone was done with their daily routine, the senior professor called everyone to have a dinner together as it as been long they all have dinner together and to also welcome their new, competent and well known surgeon from the city, Surgeon Catherine. Everybody were happy to hear about this and they all get prepared for the dinner, lots of foods and drinks were prepared on the table for the dinner and everybody were presents, the senior professor welcome and thanked everybody presents there and they all dine and wine. While others are eating and laughing joyfully, surgeon Catherine and physician John take a walk outside of the hospital and sat somewhere to talk, physician John asked, why did you leave your former place of work, one of the big hospital in the city with plenty of different kinds of Surgeon and which you are one of the best at that to come down to and Island in a local area like this? Surgeon Catherine smirk and reply that it's a long story, she brought out her Mom passport from her wallet and show it to physician John, she said this is my Mom, she died not long ago all because of me, all because I was a bad child who neglect her own Mom and leave her to die, she blame herself and said I couldn't forgive myself for what I did because the woman tried to get treated by her competent surgeon daughter who has been healing many people in the city holding her scalpel but I couldn't save my own Mom, she cried out loud, physician John gently draw her closer and put her head to rest on his shoulder and say cry as much as you want and don't keep it inside because you can also fall sick if you keep crying inside, he continue by saying stop blaming yourself for her death because it's not really your fault. Surgeon Catherine stop crying and that is when physician John say please let me see the photo ones again and Catherine bring it out and gave him, physician John took it from her and look at it, he looked more closer and said it seems I know this woman somewhere, where did I know her? He think deeply and say yes I remember, she once came to this hospital to complain of indigestion and I gave her some medicine and also told her she need to get treated but she said her beautiful and competent daughter work in a big hospital in the city that she would go to her and he advice her to do that quickly, so you are her competent daughter she was talking about, what a small world. Physician John tried to put off the blame of her death from Catherine and blame himself that if he has forced her to take the surgery from them quickly may be she wouldn't have died, I am sorry Catherine it's all my fault. Catherine replied with No, it's my fault because I Chase her back when she came all the way from the Island to get treated from her competent daughter in the city, I have saved many lives with this my hand but could not save my Mom, she cries again, after physician John console her more he then says, is that all the reason for living the big hospital in the city to work in a local place like this? Catherine replied with there are still more to it but I will tell you when the time comes. They both left there to go join others at the dinner party.
Raymond was already looking for both of them and worried physician John might have took Catherine from him finally, Raymond was about to go outside to look for them then he sees both of them coming and smiling as they walk slowly approaching him, Raymond angrily walk to them and tell John let me see you for a minute, he took John to a corner, on getting there he hit John hard on the cheek and jerk him, physician John says, what is the meaning of all this you are doing, Raymond reply with I should ask you, why are you outside with Catherine? don't you know this is a working place and beside the senior professor as set a dinner for us and purposely to welcome Catherine, then why did you took her outside? Physician John smirk and respond, is it that I took her outside that is hurting you or because you could not? You are an adult so do not interfere in what does not concern you, he then left Raymond there. On getting inside he met Catherine by door, she said physician John let me see you for a minute, they both went to a corner and she said I heard everything you and Raymond were discussing and if we should really look close to it he is very right with what he says, this is a working place and we need to set some ground rules. John says what do you mean by setting some ground rules? there is nothing to worry about but Catherine quickly cut in that NO, this is what I want and if you still want us to be a close friend then you should abide by the rules I am going to set. John says Okay, what are the rules? Catherine respond with rule one, never steer at me too much while we are at work, at working place here it's strictly working, we do things discreetly, rule two, you must not hold my hand for what so ever reason in this working place. Is that okay with you? She asked and John respond with I understand and they went to join others where they are partying.
Raymond was not happy and he went outside the basketball court, he play basketball ball alone angrily till he got exhausted. He lied down on the court and think of what to do, he says to himself, I will find a way.
The next day surgeon Catherine and physician John was called to go to the city for one of the assembly man surgery as he requested for surgeon Catherine himself, on getting there surgeon Catherine don't want to go in and John asked what happened? You were requested officially by the newly elected assembly man, what a great opportunity for your carrier and Catherine reply with, this is the hospital i was working before, John said and so? You will be seeing your previous colleague and I do not see anything in that and that is when Catherine say you remember you asked me last night that is it only because of my mother death that make me leave where I work before and I told you there is a lot to it, John replied yes I remember, Catherine said I also left because of what this hospital as done to me. John said really.. what as happened?
