The twins were currently playing some poker with the SOLDIER 2nd class that they beat up earlier. They now understood where those at their ranks truly stand at the food chain. And that was good enough for the twins.
"All in." Ramiel was betting materia because he could make them like candy. And the soldiers really wanted those, because cure materia could save your ass while you're on the field. And they were in short supply, because white and black magic were the rarest normal materia. Not counting summons.
"Shit, you bluffing captain? I can see you twitch a bit when you put that materia on the table." The soldier smiled at him and there were ooh's all around. Waiting to see Ramiel lose at least once. He was too damned good at the game.
"Hmph, you can try and think so. But I don't show mercy, not even to my own sister." Ramiel pointed at the glum Alexandra on the corner, pouting heavily at him as he could read her like a book and sweeped her money like a vacuum, it was his in the first place anyways.
"Mou, meanie! I'm definitely not gonna save your ass later when you get in trouble!" Alexandra shouted at him and huffed, making the whole room laugh.
"I didn't know that Captain's sister can act like a regular little sister. That's freaky, man~" One of the soldiers commented and Alex of course heard them. She then glared daggers at them, almost making their heart stop.
"Now, now. This thing costs at least 10k gil. Pretty hefty price. You'll go bankrupt you know? SOLDIER wages aren't the best in the world." Ramiel shrugged and his opponent started analyzing his cards.
"You know what, fuck it. I'm gonna call, this is too good to pass up. And I have a pretty nice set of cards, captain." The guy smirked at him and Ramiel snorted.
The dealer began revealing the last card and Ramiel put down his. "Royal flush, hmmm~ Thank you very much for your patronage." Ramiel took his gil and the soldier got depressed.
"He's too good, I don't know about you. But he's probably card counting too, what a cheater." Alex snarled and Ramiel ruffled her hair. She was in a pretty sour mood because the saltwater air made her hair so frizzy. And she needed to bust out the extra special conditioner that cost a lot.
"We are approaching the southern beaches of Wutai, I repeat, we are approaching the shores of the island. Please board the LCVP and prepare for landing." A voice was heard throughout the ship and the SOLDIERs sighed.
"I guess it's time captain. This is going to be a ride, that's for sure." The arrogant guy from before stood up and they prepared their standard issue gear.
All in black fatigues with thick, steel shoulder pads with a logo of Shinra. They prepped for this for a long time. And the soldiers were excited for their first, real, large scale battle.
"Yeah, this will take some time. Let's go then." Ramiel sighed, shaking his head at the thought of being packed in an LCVP. Ramiel boarded the ship they will use to storm the shores of Wutai and he stood side by side with Alexandra at the front of it where it will open.
The wind fluttered and their clothes rustled with the warm wind of the ocean. Alexandra took out a standard issue chokuto. Not really wanting to use Masamune on mooks. And it doesn't has the cutting power of her main sword.
Ramiel just cracked his knuckles and swung his hand to the side. A purplish black blade that looked like the void appeared on his arm. Contouring his limbs. "Nether sword, this will probably be enough for this." He looked at the ships around them that are travelling with them.
"Ohhh? Godo's pretty serious about this eh? He's sending out a lot of troops. And they look like they have a lot of firepower." Alex fixed her shades and saw that there were tons of high caliber machine guns, artillery, soldiers, and elites on the shore.
Even though he knows that they will lose the war, he still has an image to maintain. And they won't just flop down and surrender.
At the other side, on the shores of Wutai. Their commander could already see the ships of Shinra over the horizon. He squinted his eyes and gestured for his assistant to give him a microphone.
"My soldiers! Shinra is here! And they're bringing down their tyrannical might on our land." He paused for a second and the Wutai troops begin trembling. Others with excitement, and others with fear and terror.
"They won't go travel an inch through the shores of Wutai! Fire!" He gave his orders and bright flashes of muzzle fire immediately shone like fireflies.
"They're firing their weapons, protect the ships at all cost. Don't die now." Ramiel encouraged the SOLDIER 2nd class and they began jumping inhuman heights to the ships of Shinra. A duo of two soldiers protecting one each.
Ramiel and Alexandra nodded at each other and she jumped to the waters. But instead of sinking, the girl with platinum hair stood on the deep waters and brandished her sword.
She began slicing bullets with amazing speed and dexterity. The soldiers of Shinra that were able to witness the feat were entranced. Like she was a nymph that danced on the surface of the water.
But sparks and shrapnel accompanied her deadly tango. Explosions from mortars were intercepted by her with pinpoint accuracy and precision using just a sword.
"I guess that I should do my part as well, stretch my wings a bit." Ramiel chuckled, seeing the numerous missiles that was targeting their ships. And the SOLDIER 2nd class were not confident about not having any damage nor casualties.
"Force pulse." Ramiel jumped up in the sky and a wave of energy just like the ethereal sword in his arm washed over the missiles in a large cone.
The world went dark for a second due to the bright flashes of the missiles that exploded in the sky. And due to Ramiel's attack, the shockwave contracted, sending a strong wind to the shores of Wutai that shocked everyone there.
"M-monsters!" The quiet troops suddenly heard a voice as they saw the twins.
"Rift walk." Ramiel opened a portal by connecting two places at once and ripping open the fabric of space with his absurd amounts of Mako.
He then appeared beside Alexandra as they stood on the calm surface of the water. Behind them, numerous ships with the troops of Shinra slowly converged towards them.
"Hmph, is that the best you can do?" Alexandra leaned onto him and put her hand on his shoulder as she smirked. Her voice was heard all throughout the battlefield even though she didn't shout.
"We're fucked." A gunman in the Wutai side commented.
