Chereads / Longing For Love / Chapter 64 - Act Along

Chapter 64 - Act Along

A deafening silence surrounded El and Dwane as they were on their way to Wilson's Mansion.

After a ride that seemed a day long, they finally arrived.

Alec and Isobelle saw El coming in with Dwane by her side.

El was immensely elated to see Isobelle after four years.

However, she had to maintain her composure and not express her overwhelming joy.

Isobelle on the other hand was utterly shocked to see Dwane being in close proximity with Michelle.

"Meet my wife, El. El this is Isobelle, Daniel Ford's daughter."

"Nice meeting you Mrs. Wilson." Isobelle smiled.

"Likewise." Michelle replied.

"Isobelle Ford, nice seeing you again." Dwane seathed.

They glared at each other with sheer hatred in their eyes.

The animosity between them was clearly evident to everyone around them, besides the four year rivalry between the Fords and the Farehyas wasn't new news.

Alec cleared his throat to reduce the tension between them.

"You guys are late, come in." He dragged El in and Dwane followed.

Isobelle turned away and walked in the other direction.

"Hi Miss Ford." Kaitlyn chimed in behind her with a chirpy voice.

"You are?" Isobelle asked coldly.

"Kaitlyn Miller, I see you fancy Alec Wilson."

Isobelle chucked inwardly, "Is it?"

"Yeah, I saw you both to talk cordially. But you need to get rid of his wife if you intend to pursue him."

Isobelle's eyes darkened at her vile words.

"So what should I do?" Isobelle pretended to be friendly towards her

"It won't be hard, she is a nobody, and has no one to back her up. Wrecking her would be a child's play." Kaitlyn had a devilish smile as she plotted against El.

"Wrecking what will be a child's play?" They heard a feminine voice from behind. They turned around, it was El.

"Oh Hi, Miss El. We were just chatting." Kaitlyn fumbled.

"Kaitlyn, Could you please excuse us? I'd like to have a chat with Mrs. Wilson."Isobelle said with flashing a fake mischievous smile.

"Sure," Kaitlyn winked and left.

Isobelle rolled her eyes at her,

"scheming bitch." she said in a low voice.

Michelle chuckled, "I didn't expect us to meet like this, after so many years."

"Mom was right, you really look beautiful now." Isobelle said, looking at her.

They walked by the poolside where the crowd was scarce. The sisters walked slowly as they had a heart to heart conversation. Dwane glanced at them from afar, he also saw Kaitlyn coming behind them.

SPLASH

Isobelle fell into the pool.

Seeing her fall, Michelle instinctively jumped to save her.

In no time they were out of the pool and both of them were completely drenched.

"You shouldn't have." Isobelle said.

The water was cold making both of them shiver.

"How did you fall?"

"I felt someone push me."

"I saw her pushing you." Kaitlyn said pointing at El.

Seeing her falsely accusing Michelle, Isobelle was fuming with anger and was about to slap Kaitlyn.

But stopped seeing the crowd gathering around them.

"What happened?" Alec asked as he covered El's with a towel. Even Ricky got to her side.

"She pushed Miss Ford." Kaitlyn exclaimed loudly.

"How dare you, didn't you learn any manners in the orphanage you grew in?" Carolyn berated her.

"I didn't push her." El said timidly as she shivered clutching the towel around her.

Isobelle tried hard not to let her anger get the best of her. She stood still and looked around.

Along with other guests, Dwane was eyeing at them intently.

'Siding with El could raise suspicions.'

"You might have pushed me." Isobelle said.

El looked at her with a heart wrenching expression, she felt utterly hurt seeing Isobelle suspecting her.

"It's a possibility, you were standing close to me, weren't you? Isobelle got closer to Michelle and whispered,

"Dwane's looking, act along." Michelle turned around and saw Dwane who had a scrutinising expression on his face.

Understanding the circumstances she felt relieved.

"I didn't push you, how could I? I was standing beside you." She replied in a loud voice.

"That doesn't mean you can't push her." Kaitlyn retorted.

"Yeah, exactly." Isobelle said.

"You can push a person even if you are standing beside them, right Kaitlyn?" She asked her as she walked close to her.

Ricky was enjoying the fake banter between them.

"Yes," Kaitlyn nodded.

Before the crowd could comprehend anything, Isobelle stood beside Kaitlyn and pushed in into the pool.

Everyone gasped Michelle and Ricky tried hard not to laugh out loud.

'You are indeed something Isobelle Ford.' Ricky thought.

Isobelle bent down and offered her hand to Kaitlyn to pull her up.

"Why did you push me?" She whined.

"I was only proving your point, it is clearly evident to everyone now that one can push the other person even though they are standing next to each other." Isobelle said smugly.

No one dared to reprimand Isobelle for pushing Kaitlyn given her high social status.

Carolyn could only offer a towel to Kaitlyn. Wrapping herself, Kaitlyn walked away completely embarrassed.

"The party is inside, not here." Carolyn said as she walked in and the crowd followed her.

El was still trembling with cold. Alec stood close to her and rubbed the towel against her to warm her up.

"Could you.. could you pass a towel to Miss. Isobelle?" El asked Alec.

In the whole commotion everyone had forgotten that Isobelle was drenched and was feeling cold too.

Hearing El's words Ricky hurried and offered her a towel.

"Oh don't worry about her, Witches don't feel cold." Dwane ridiculed Isobelle.

"I finally got to see why they call you the Big Bully of Barnesville." He scoffed.

"Sleep with one eye open Mr. Farehya." She smirked.

"Seems like both the Ford sisters are equally vile."

"Don't you dare say a word against my sister." Isobelle fumed out loud and marched towards him with fury.

"Stop it both of you, keep your family fueds to yourself and your own places not at my place" Alec said out loud.

El sighed a breath of relief seeing Isobelle stop at her tracks.

Ricky had held Isobelle's hand to stop her, he was still subconsciously holding her hand.

Dwane and Isobelle continued glaring at each other with coldness in their eyes.

"You two need to dry up." Alec said. He felt guilty towards El's state.

She clearly didn't wish to come, yet he insisted.

'Everytime she was here something awful happened to her.'

Alec asked Rene to escort them both inside and provide them with fresh clothes. As they both walked in,

"Be careful," Dwane caught everyone's attention,

"the bitch bites." He smirked, taunting Isobelle again.

She was irked again,

"Ignore him." Michelle said and walked inside with her.
