Chapter 5 - Violet Moon

By now the sun nearly set. The pink sky bounced off the stone buildings, making it look straight out of a painting.

Robert had no idea what would lurk in the dark of night. So he needed somewhere to hide away. Somewhere defendable, comfy, and a good lookout point.

He decided on a 3 story house with only a front door. Aside from a bed on the top floor there wasn't anything alive or of value in the building. It also had stairs leading to the roof, but he doubted anything would fly in.

As he looked down the stairs he could just imagine a creature sprinting up and killing him in his sleep. Just then he came up with a great idea. He slowly pushed the furniture in the building blocking the stairs. Now nothing could get up without making a lot of noise. He grinned to himself thinking a job well done.

Now that he felt safe enough he choose to scope of the surroundings. With his new book he could identify some creatures he spotted. the book contained a generic description on almost 1000s of different living beings. There was also a section for humans, elves, and dwarves.

The first thing he identified was a brigade of orcs. The creatures were about 6 and a half feet tall with light green skin. they had little hair and large tusks coming out of their mouth's. Each of them wore little armor and had savage but deadly weapons. They numbered about 15. One of them was riding a large wolf and had a giant sword on his back. They blatantly patrolled down the Main Street. "For them to be so obvious they must be at the top of the food chain" Robert thought. The book also described them as ruthless, cunning, and extremely violent.

A little ways off he spotted a lot of goblins entering into a 1 story building. So far he had at least counted 30 entering. The book said that goblins formed clans and would set up nests. It said on average the nest would have from 40 to 100 goblins in them. "For so many of them to fit in that building it must have a big basement."

The last thing he could spot was unique. He saw a 100 foot wide fountain. The interesting part though was what was in it. Within the fountain he saw multiple crustaceans. They had 6 legs in total and 4 claws. Had a hard shell covering the top of there body and were about 3 feet tall and 5 feet long. Most of them were light gray in color. Robert looked through the book for there entry. He finally found it. they were called Quadraclaws. It read they had a tough shell but soft underbelly's.

"Perfect, I finally found a creature with an obvious weakness. They also seem pretty slow. It will be the exact thing I need for practice."

After the fight with the goblins he only realized how weak he really was. He needed practice and he needed it bad.

By now the sun had already set and the moon had risen. It was a crescent moon that was slightly violet. While being very pretty it was also a little sinister.

Robert was feeling very tired and decided Now was a good time to finally turn in for the night. Before he closed his eyes he reviewed his plan for tomorrow.

"I will search houses while I make my way towards the fountain. Maybe I will get lucky and find something valuable. Then once I get to the fountain I will try to lure away one or two and practice with my sword. I can already taste the crab meat."

He fell asleep with a smile plastered across his face.
