"Did I do something unnecessary?"

Eric scratched his head, hoping for a response.
Angie, still frozen in surprise, took a while to reply.
"...Looks like I was a bother. Sorry for meddling in your business."
Eric had misunderstood Angie's silence as confirmation.
Silence can express more than a thousand words after all.
"N-No, you weren't a bother at all!"
Angie realized the misunderstanding she had caused.
She coughed and tried to come up with a good explanation that would maintain her dignity but not belittle Eric's good intentions.
"I really wasn't in trouble dealing with that gentleman. I could have resolved the situation myself; however, your meddling made it easy for me to do so, for which I want to thank you," Angie responded calmly.
Angie had completely regained her composure.
"Really? It's a relief! I thought I made a mistake, hahaha," Eric replied while grinning from ear to ear.
