Chapter 1 - New Job

In an average sized room, a young pale skinned lady sat on a regular round stool in front of a mirror, doing her makeup. Her brown eyes glows, her small nose perfecting her face with her lips, covered in gloss and her long shiny black hair made her look so stunning. She opened a palette of brush, picked a medium sized brush, blew it slightly before applying some powder on it which she applied on her face. The door opened abruptly, making her to look back at the person.

"Hey, Camellia, you're going to get late for work. You honestly don't need of of that" the lady who was about the same age as Camille said, with one of her hand on the door's handle and the other pointing at the makeup kit.

"You're not serious, girl. This is my first job after we left college and you expect me to go without wearing makeup? I have to look my best" she said, parking the makeup kit and before the lady could reply, she continued.

"Well, I'll be out in a bit"

The lady slammed the door, Camellia took another glance at herself in the mirror, "I think yellow looks good on me most" she said, admiring the yellow gown she wore which was for her graduating from college. She picked her a black bag to match the black pair of heels she was putting on, on a hanger beside her bed and went to meet the other lady in the living room.

Kendra, the lady who slammed the door, sat on the couch, snacking and watching the morning news when Camellia paraded and asked how she looked.

"Kendra, how do I look in this dress?" her soft voice mumbled, turning herself round for her friend to see.

"You always look beautiful, Camellia. I wish I was half beautiful as you are, not trapped in this fat body of mine" she said, squeezing her big tummy in disgust.

Camilla moved closer to her and placed a hand on her shoulder, drawing her closer, "C'mon, Kendra! I've told you severally that beauty is not measured by body size, you're beautiful, you just have to believe that" she said and Kendra nodded in agreement.

"Now, let's head to work. I don't want to be late"

The two ladies got up, took their spare key, locked and left the house. They walked together down the street, to the junction.

"See you soon, don't stay up late" Camellia said, waving at Kendra as they parted ways to their various places of work.

Camellia hummed happily as she walked down the way to her place of work, it was her first time getting a job since she finished college. Life hasn't been a bed of roses for her as she lost her parents was she was a kid and struggled to get whatever she need, she hopes her new job would be able to provide her happiness and more money to fulfill her dream of being a model.

She got to her place of work, a restaurant, a famous one at that. She had always loved for a meal from this restaurant and now she's now a worker. She stood at the door, closed her eyes, took a deep breath, appreciating the gush of fresh air that hit her face. She opened her eyes and at a tinkle of an eye, she entered the restaurant, her hair slightly bouncing as she took each step closer to the counter.

"Good morning, ma. I'm the new waitress" she said with an enormous smile on her face but the lady examined her from the crown of her head to her toes, making Camellia feel like something's wrong.

"Are you sure you know what you're talking about?" she asked, looking more confused but a customer interrupted before she could reply.

"A bowl of rice and chicken, please!"

"Coming!" she replied

"Pardon? I don't know what you're talking about" she said, now with a mix feeling of anxiety and fear.

"You look too good to be a waitress" she whispered into my ear as she took a tray containing the customer's order to him.

She blushed and smiled softly.

She came back go the counter, opened a draw and gave me a cloth, my uniform, having my name tagged on it.

"Go over there, you'll see a rest room by the left. Change and get ready for work"

Kendra who works as an hotel breakfast attendant, got to the hotel punctual as usual and resumed her duties. She went to the kitchen to know what order she has to distribute.

In the kitchen, a pretty slim lady with short brown hair, black eyes, a pointed nose with a nice round lips stood, chopping tomatoes when Kendra walked in and hugged her from behind.

"Good morning, Elena" she said, hugging and kissing her cheeks as a sign of respect but Elena answered with a nod which was unusual of her but ignored her attitude .

"What order do I have this morning?" she asked, resting on her two hands which was placed on a small table.

Elena pointed at some tray of meal carefully arranged and kept at a corner of the kitchen and continued with the tomatoes she was chopping, Kendra moved closer to her and bent her head over to look at her eyes which was fixated on the tomatoes.

"What's wrong with you, Elena?"

Elena shudder and kept mute still which was now pissing Kendra.

"Did he cheat again?" she asked, observing her reaction.

Elena's eye went from red to teary till a tear dropped from her left eye but still kept mute and chopping the tomato. Kendra hit her head with her palm in frustration.

"What's so special about this guy? Why can't you break up with him? You're beautiful and hardworking, what more could a man ask for?"

"But I love him, I love him so much and I believe he would change" she said, now crying and had stopped chopping the tomatoes.

"Are you for real? It's been two year now with the same lifestyle and you think he'd change?" she asked but went to get the breakfast buffet and left the kitchen.

Elena looked back at her, sobbing.
