Chapter 24 - The City of Skies - Cassian

Rustom was going through a very delirious moment, in his life as the things that he went through in a span of a week has completely overwhelmed him. and the main culprit responsible for it, was this black cat sitting in the large white desk in front of him.

"Just what the hell happened here in a span of week." Rustom questioned.

He definitely remember leaving this desolate place behind to visit his son, but now the state of this place has taken a complete 360 degree turn.

There were elves and dwarves roaming all over the camp, while the human residents seems to have gotten used to this scene, he could very well the person responsible for such change.

Ian completely ignored Rustom's gaze before questioning him.

"Did you bring what I asked you to ?"

Rustom immediately placed a piece of paper right infront of Ian's desk, while bearing a mark of the adventures guild.

"Great, this means we can now officially built an adventure guild office in our city."

"Do you know how those people looked at me, when I told them I am opening a guild right in the middle of Khar plains. They were looking at me as if I was some kind of an idiot."

"Well it can't be helped you're the only one with a 'Diamond' Rank Adventure badge, you're the only one eligible of getting this one, well anyway I look forward to working with you Adventure guildmaster of the Cassian branch."

"Cassian ???" Rustom made a confused expression, while Ian explained.

"That's the name of the city we have came up with, you should go visit your disciple she has been waiting for you for a while."

I'm leaving, I'm leaving, no need to chase me out so blatantly." Rustom said as he left the commander's office.

"Just two more months." Ian murmured, as he counted the time left for this city to be built completely.

Ian handed out tasks for each factions and their commanders, Barnes who led the Blue Knight's was incharge of mentaining internal peace within the camp, while the red Knights were stationed with the task of protecting the city from any foreign invasions. While Ian gave the most important and dangerous task to Karn, of sneaking inside the Empire and rescue the innocent slave labourers and serfs from the clutches of nobility.

----

"Are all the materials in there ?" Barnes asked one of his recruit training under him.

"Yes Commander Barnes, all are in there."

Barnes gave a nod before ordering " Take all this materials to meister Karakrum." After the trainee left he could help but frown a bit.

"Is everything alright son." A middle aged, woman asked while glancing towards Barnes with a worried expression.

"I'm alright mother, thanks to you we got our hands on the materials so fast." Barnes said while giving a slight smile, he couldn't just tell her mother, whom he dragged all the way here in the middle of nowhere, that they are facing a shortage of funds.

He has exhausted all his connections of his parents, to find a steady source of supply, but he is now facing problem with shortage of funds, they might hardly be able to last two weeks more before completely exhausting all the funds they have gathered by selling Rustom's herbs.

Barnes immediately walked towards the Main office of the templar to discuss about the urgent issue, they were facing.

"Let me guess what brought you here.Deficits in our funds." Ian replied while looking at Barnes who appeared in his office with a worried look on his face.

"Well it's not that hard, we just need to sell a few ores from our mines."

"No" Ian immediately interrupted Barnes suggestion "Those mines are too valuable, and could be tracked back to us. Dwarves are busy building the city are else we could have asked them to start a steady production of weapons, while the elves would still require time, to learn Alchemy to start concocting potions, I guess we have no other choice."

As Ian said those word's, the large door leading towards their armory opened itself.

"Let's sell any one random thing in there"

"But those things in the armory are priceless." Barnes immediately refuted, as any one of those things inside their armory can be considered as family heirloom for any high-ranking noble family.

Ian went in and grabbed a random 'EPIC' Grade Sword art, before placing in the desk.

"This should be more than enough." Ian said with a adamant tone.

Although still insistent, but Barnes gradually agreed, as he saw no other choice.

"Alright then, that settles it then, once the city officially opens, we can all focuses on our progress, I can see you're closer to reaching the 'Fourth Circle' "

Barnes immediately grinned, the moment Ian mentioned his progress, he has been stuck in 'Third Circle' for years, but after getting his hands on higher grade techniques, he can feel his breakthrough, just a little push away.

"But I can still can't compare with the other two, that kid of yours, keeps practicing day and night reaching the peak of 'Two Stars' as for Naikda, she is considered a prodigy, according to Rustom own words.

"I'm happy things are going well, but we have only three more years before the next Monster Subjugation takes place, we need to as much prepared as we possibly can."

'And just five years before Hector Solan becomes the Lord of the Solan County' Ian thought inwardly, as he still didn't forget his main purpose and goal.

Right now Hector Solan is just a 16 year old kid, a mere student attending Crune Royal Academy, who will shock the entire world after making his appearance in the 'continental tournament' defeating all other prodigies of major academies and Empires.

"There's still four years before that happens, before that he kept laying low, gathering his strength, although he is an arrogant bastard he is not an idiot." Ian murmured.

"What ?"

"Ahh! right you're still here, nothing just talking to myself, just go ahead and sell that manual, I'll bear the consequences."

"Alright" Barnes gave a final nod before walking out of the room with an Epic grade sword art in his hand.

-----

Thanks to the money from the sword art, the city managed to replenish its fund, as progress for the city started with an eye-catching speed.

Everyone present there finally understood, why dwarves are considered masters of architecture and engineering, as the entire part of the city could be considered a state of art.

Karakrum made sure to highlight the Knight's templar, the Dwarven Workshop and the Magic Tower, as the already granduer moments looked almost mystical.

As they large circular roads and signboards, while a separate lanes on both sides for the people to walk by.

They built several thousands of multi-stored houses, along with a large white building, which appeared to be the new Adventures guild office, and a large coloseum for official spars and a large auction hall right in the middle of city.

They built a hundreds of meters long walls outside the outskirts of the city, with huge watchtowers allowing the Knight's and mages, an easy access to the entire city.

In the centre of the plaza, there's a large fountain, with a even larger metallic statue of a cat, which is constantly pouring water from its mouth.

"What in the hell is this ?" Ian questioned while glancing towards the offensive looking fountain in front of him.

"I think it looks pretty nice." Naikda chimed in while, everyone else started giving a nod with approval.

"And what's with that strange flag, hanging above the templar." Ian asked while pointing at the red flag with a black cat imprinted on it, waving on top of the templar.

"Well we needed a new flag, and everyone liked this design." Barnes said while trying his hardest to hold back his laughter.

Soon the group walked in front of the City gates, with a huge board appearing in front of them.

'Welcome to Cassian - The City of Skies'

"Why does this name mean ?" Karn couldn't help but ask.

"Cassian was the name of the Dragon who thought the people of this continent, the very concept of Mana, and he was a Sky Dragon, this name is just us paying a homage to that individual. Ian said while looking at the sign board with filled a nostalgia.
