Chapter 2 - Iron Devil pt2

*Creak* the wooden door let out a cry announcing the presence of the person who just entered the tavern.

A few curious patrons turned to the source only to see a figure with a brown cloak around their entire person. The cloak was worn out and on the verge of ripping, saying a lot about the journey this new patron must have had.

Most of the patrons returned to their conversations ignoring the newcomer but some still kept their eyes on him. The heavy thuds that were heard as the strangers feet made contact with the floor suggested he wore some sort of armor, in a few strides the stranger was before old Lime's counter.

"What can I do you for stranger?" old Lime questioned, he still had his ever present smile but his brows were furrowed due to the fact that the strangers face was hidden by a shadow formed by his cloak.

"I'm looking for Jeor one of the insurgents leaders" The stranger spoke in a strange metallic tone that seemed devoid of emotion. The words spoken by the stranger as well as the tone which he spoke them attracted the attention of all in the tavern.

Old Lime had lost his smile with his grip on his counter tightening, "and why are you looking for him?".

"I am here for his bounty", the light from one of the torches flashed at the right angle allowing for the greyish silver reflective surface under the hood to be seen. Seeing it old Lime quickly moved back to put some space between them crashing into the bottles arranged behind himself muttering, "Gladius".

Many of the rest did not hesitate in rushing out of the tavern, "Do you-" The Gladius was interrupted by the sound of swords being pulled out of their sheaths. "You shouldn't have come here devil" one of the men called out as he tightened the grip on the spear he was holding.

The Gladius turned around to the source and tilted his head like some cat, his hand quickly flashed up to the side catching a bolt which was aimed straight for his head. All went silent as eyes turned to the brave fool who had let loose that bolt, the fool's eyes widened as the realization of what he had done finally hit him, as his own bolt dug into his throat.

The gurgling sounds he made as he chocked on his own blood started the battle, a spear came right at the Gladius who grabbed it and delivered a chop into the opponents neck snapping his neck instantaneously.

Now armed with a spear, the gladius knocked away a sword that was coming his way before knocking another opponent of his feet. He proceeded to spin around the first swordsman who attempted to deliver another strike, embedding his spear into the brain of the opponent he had knocked down, through his eye.

Sensing a projectile heading his way, the Gladius brought the spear before himself. The spear snapped in two as the knife flying his way made contact with it, the Gladius looked down at the spear before ducking, avoiding a wide swing from behind.

He dug the end of the now broken spear into the gut of the swordsman, then leapt forward with such speed, lunging his spear into another enemy before they could react. Letting go of the weapon the Gladius turned to the last enemy who had finally gotten some sense, and decided to run away.

The Gladius leapt once more cutting him off and launching him into the wall, "Insurgent, where is Jeor" "we will all be free!" were the only words the insurgent spoke before biting down on his tongue. The Gladius observed as he collapsed to the ground and continued to watch him until he heard [Vitals fading] hearing that, he left the insurgent and headed straight for the counter.

Reaching over he pulled Lime over and slammed him into the counter, "I'll ask again where is Jeor?!"

"I don't know I swear, only the insurgents know" The Gladius remained silent observing him but after sensing no change in his pulse he left him. Fixing his cloak he stepped out to meet the crowd which stood some distance away watching everything.

Quickly scanning through the crowd, the Gladius managed to spot a boy who immediately ran as he got close. The Gladius seeing this knew, he had a way to locate Jeor now, letting go of his cloak he began the chase after letting the boy get some distance.

The crowd parted like the seas once they laid eyes on the armor he wore. The gladius noticed though, that as he went further in, not everyone was parting some seemed to ready their weapons serving as more of an indication that he was in the right place.

He eventually arrived at a place where there were a bunch of apartment blocks with most of them being in a state of disrepair. The Gladius attention was however drawn to his welcoming party, the insurgents held a variety of weapons from swords to bows with varying degrees of armor on their person.

Taking a quick look behind himself, the Gladius was certain he was surrounded. He slowly moved his hand to his back, once his hand touched his weapon he quickly pulled out his GLSR-117. Its body gained a neon body glow before it began to spit out lasers.

The enemies armor served little to no protection against the GLSR-117, the thunderous sound it made as it fired each shot resounded throughout the neighborhood, announcing the Gladius' presence to all.
