Chapter 26 - Chapter 25 - Mission

Everyone in the class focused on Mr. Mispholfo, the person in the seat next to Kazu woke him up and we were waiting for his words.

"Today, you'll have your first mission."

There were some students confused, I could hear whispers about them asking what he was talking about.

On the other hand, I completely forgot about them. It wasn't as though these missions were just so unimportant that I didn't need to remember them, I just had a lot on my mind recently.

Training and getting stronger has been so fun, I never could've pictured a life like this before.

But... The first mission... What was it again? I had written it so long ago that I couldn't remember. I do remember the last mission though, what was it... Kazu's fourth year? When we 'Officially' entered a war between us and the demons and during that mission his class was attacked.

That was pretty far from now though, I wasn't worried.

"Your first mission will have you all survive in a forest for 1 week. If you successfully live than you'll receive 8 points towards your weapon."

8 points? That was a pretty good amount, although all our classes could give us points, we wouldn't receive much just for being there. We'd only really receive points from a test, when we were noticed, or from a game the teachers started.

Like when the first 'Real Combat' class happened, I didn't even get any points from that, only the winners did.

"What!?"

"Do we really have to survive in a forest?!"

"No way!"

"The bugs and our hygiene!"

Some of the students in our class exclaimed.

"Quiet." Mr. Mispholfo hushed everyone down.

"This is something you will all have to do eventually."

"I will give you all 2 hours to get ready, starting now."

"Huh!?"

"What!?"

"That's too short of a notice!"

Some students exclaimed while other students began to move immediately. Taku and Ayaka being two of them.

"Leo!"

Looking to my right, Rio was up and seemed ready to move.

"We should go get ready!"

"Aren't we already ready?"

"Huh?"

Rio tilted his head and continued

"What do you mean?"

"What do you have in your room that you could bring to help you survive?"

Rio put his fingers up and started to count.

"Um... I already have your gift... Um... I don't have a weapon..."

It took a second, but Rio dropped his fist against his palm in a moment of realization.

"You're right, haha, I guess we are already ready!"

"Yeah."

We both didn't have anything in our rooms, we didn't request anything special either. Other than clothes, everything we've bought has stayed with us. The ring Rio gave me looked as clean as ever and his necklace, Spellbreak still shone bright.

Maybe I should get us some weapons soon, they obviously wouldn't be as good as what we'd get with our points, but they'd be better than nothing.

Soon after, everyone except for me, Rio, and Mr. Mispholfo left the classroom.

Mr. Mispholfo was erasing stuff on the board before he looked back at us and spoke.

"Vondheart, Second Vondheart, are you two not going to get ready?"

"We're already ready." I said with my hand on my cheek.

"You both are already ready?"

"Yes!" Rio yelled

"I see. You are both ready no matter the situation? Good job." He went back to his desk and began reading some papers.

What? Ready no matter the situation? Where did that come from? We're just broke and don't have anything to use.

"Hey Leo."

"Hm?"

"What kind of weapon do you use?"

"I've been using a sword recently."

"A sword..."

"What about you?"

"Oh! Me? I've used everything the teachers gave me so far, haha."

"But what one has felt the most comfortable? Or does your talent make you feel comfortable with all weapons?"

"Um... I think I've liked the rapier the most"

A rapier? How does one even use a rapier? Isn't it a stabby-stab thing?

"Hm..."

Moments later the classroom door opened, it was Taku, he wore a backpack and had a sword on his hip.

"Frostborn, are you ready?" Mr. Mispholfo looked up from his papers at the man who entered the room

"Yes."

"Alright, take a seat."

Soon after, another student came in and then another, eventually just before it hit 2 hours the last 2 students came in the room.

"Looks like everyone's here on time. So, there won't be any point deductions yet."

Yet?

Mr. Mispholfo checked his watch and then tapped the screen a couple times.

We all watched in silence; it was kind've awkward.

Seconds later he started to speak.

"Follow me."

What? That was like waiting for someone to finish doing something so you can ask them a question.

We all got up and followed him, he led us to a big, open area.

"Wait here."

We were all gathered around on the marble floor and just waited there, Kazu was talking to a group of people while me and Rio were talking to one another.

There were some friend groups between the students now.

Rio and I walked over to Taku and Ayaka who were alone and began to talk.

"Hey." I waved at the both of them.

"Hi Taku! Hi Ayaka!" Rio said with a smile on his face.

We'd usually eat lunch together, so I guess we all got closer during that time.

Taku helped me a lot with the sword too, so I think we were probably friends.

"Hello."

"Hello."

They both spoke at the same time, but Ayaka continued to speak.

"Are you sure you're both ready? You guys don't even have any bags?"

"Yeah, we're all good."

"Where are your weapons?"

"We don't have any?"

"What?!"

Ayaka opened her eyes wide, and Taku seemed surprised too.

Just as she was about to speak, a big blue light suddenly appeared around us and I could hear Mr. Mispholfo speak.

"Good luck, we'll pick you up in a week."
