Leif never cared about friendship neither was he interested in having any. When he was younger he tried to get along with his cousins but he could feel their insincerity from a mile away.
Because of his unusual quirks he stayed away from most people in school and a lot of children also stayed away from him. The word friendship was a foreign concept to him.
He didn't think he needed friends thus didn't even try to make any but hearing Quinn say that he was only friend he felt very complicated emotions.
Based on their past interactions he couldn't associate it with the word friendship.
Quinn felt much lighter after saying it. She had never said it out loud but now that she had finally said it it felt like she had lifted a weight off her shoulders. Her only regret was that she never got to tell him. He probably died thinking she hated him or bullied him.
Quinn smiled self-deprecatingly while sniffling her nose as red as Rudolf the reindeer. What should have been a lovely dinner had been ruined just like that.
"I am not hungry anymore. Can I go," she said and Leif was about to respond when the door of the private room opened and a man an eighth similar to Leif entered with the figures of two waiters rushing behind him to stop him.
Logan sneered when he saw the two people enjoying a fancy dinner in the most expensive private room available in this hotel restaurant.
"I heard my cousin and my new in law were fine dining in this room so I decided to come over and take a look," he said as he sat right next to Quinn making himself at home.
He draped his arm around Quinn's shoulder and leaned in closer while whispering, "So how much did he… pay you?" pausing in between to point at Leif with a flash of maliciousness in his eyes.
The smell of rotten tobacco smell from his mouth assailed Quinn's nose and frowned in disgust. Leif's eyes darkened when he saw that arm touching her.
He gnashed his teeth in anger as he got up to take that arm off her body but before he could do anything, she grabbed Logan's arm and twisted it hard that it almost dislocated.
Her expression was unlike anything Leif had ever seen. The pure murderous intent in those dazzling eyes that were always calm and collect was so unnerving and petrifying making it difficult for anyone to approach.
Like a bloodthirsty demon crawled out of hell she took the steak knife on the table and pointed the sharp tip on his throat. Mortified Logan stopped struggling and swallowed his saliva causing his skin to brush against the blade.
He grimaced because of the small nick on his delicate skin. "You dare touch me one more fuckin time and I cut of your third leg," she said pushing the tip of the blade in his skin.
He leaned his head back and nodded his head lightly afraid that the sharp blade would make an even deep cut. "Do you understand?" asked Quinn her chilling voice sending shivers down his spine.
Logan nodded his head again with sweat dripping from his forehead down to his cheek.
"Quinn," called out Leif and at the sound of his voice she snapped out of it in an instant. She quickly became docile that after kicking him off the seat.
Logan held on to his shoulder his eyes glaring at her fiercely. "You bitch," he said having forgotten the lesson just now. "How dare you," he said but Quinn ignored him. He was like a little milk dog, all bark and no bite.
"Who are you calling a bitch?" said Leif his face that always cold and unfeeling as though unaffected by worldly things actually expressive. He had on darkly expression with his body exuding a sinister oppressive aura.
Logan laughed but due to the pain his expression turned grim. "Where is the lie? As stuck up as you are which woman in their right mind would want to touch you? Well, any woman that you didn't pay that is," he said ready to expose his cousin.
He had witnessed first hand his cousin push a girl away in university after he sent her to kiss him. Because of Leif's stunning looks he was so popular among girls and he was even voted the most unattainable heartthrob in campus. Even the girl he was pursuing had an interest in him which infuriated him even more.
Consumed with jealousy he decided to taint his image in their hearts and sent a very pretty girl to him. A few wards of cash had her agreeing quickly.
She walked over while he was filming and tried to kiss him not even on the lips but the cheek. As expected Leif reacted harshly pushing her away his face livid.
That video spread around campus and rumours about him being impotent spread all over campus. Words like he cant get it up and maybe he would get hard for a guy spread like a wild fire but his cousin continued like he gave zero fucks. Even when he sent people to provoke him he remained indifferent like all this hard nothing to do with him.
As the saying goes that a leopard never changes its spots, he strongly believed that this woman was hired to play this role and there was no way those engagement pictures were real.
Quinn scoffed hearing this. There was some truth to his words but she was in the business of proving them wrong so she hooked her finger and Leif beckoning him over.
Leif knew she couldn't have anything good in mind but this was why he hired her. He obediently leaned over and his tie was suddenly tugged and he was pulled forward.
Leif, "…"
Quinn who had unleashed all her pent up emotions vented it all in that kiss. It wasn't gentle or fleeting like the first one but it had this burning urgency like was going to swallow him whole. His lips were nibbled and sucked on leaving a distinct love hickey directly showcasing to the world that he was taken.
Quinn kept telling herself that this was all part of the job description and very much necessary to prove the authenticity of their relationship but after kissing those soft lips she found herself sinking deep into the feeling.
She never thought kissing could be this thrilling and addictive. She loosened her grip on his tie before reluctantly letting him go.
Before she could even recover she glared at the man standing there with a stupid look on his face and said, "Have you seen enough?"
Logan opened his mouth to speak but before he could utter a word she continued to say, "Fuck off."
As though possessed by ghosts and demons he opened the door that the waiters had closed earlier and left.
