When he ordered someone to carry her they weren't too surprised. They thought as expected he wouldn't want to carry her despite knowing they were going to get married soon.
One can only imagine their expressions when he said, "Give her to me."
Leif took her out of the man's hands and carried her in a princess carry his expression serious like he was completing an arduous task.
From a distance, there was a black vehicle parked outside the property with a paparazzi type of camera taking pictures of the two of them.
The images of Leif carrying a woman were clearly captured until they disappeared into the elevator.
Leif was well aware that the old lady had sent people to confirm this future in law and if the relationship was legit but he didn't think they took this picture.
Leif entered the elevator with Quinn in his arms. When they reached the top floor the elevator doors directly opened into his apartment.
Inside was a simple yet elegant open-plan setting with ceiling to floor windows looking right out at the beautiful street lights.
Leif walked over to the stairs and passed by the master bedroom which was his. He entered the guest room and placed her on the all white queen sized bed. From the quilt to the sheets and pillowcases, it was all white.
He helped her take off her shoes and placed her under the quilt. He covered her up and left the room while tugging at his tie.
He felt just as uncomfortable as he did the first time he helped her but this time it was more bearable.
He didn't feel like taking a shower immediately which was great progress. He walked down the stairs and saw his men waiting downstairs for further instructions.
"You can leave now. You have worked hard today. I will add on to your bonuses," he said and the men couldn't hold back a smile.
This is why they liked working for Leif. Unlike the rest of the Carnell family, he was especially generous and polite.
"Yes sir... Where do we put these?" asked the leader looking at the gift bags on the floor.
"You leave them there. She will take care of her own things," he said.
Five minutes later the apartment was back to a tranquil silence. Leif walked over to the kitchen and turned on the kettle.
While the water was boiling his cell phone rang thus he took it out of his pocket. He unlocked it with his fingerprint and checked the message.
It was from the police commissioner informing him that he had caught the drug lord. Leif didn't reply. He just put his cell phone down as the kettle whistled having boiled.
He had already warned them in advance not to deal with drugs under his territory but they thought he was joking. Since that gangster had broken the concord rules he had to pay the price. It seemed these next few days won't be peaceful.
He took out honey from the pantry and put two tablespoons of it in a glass mug. He poured out the boiled water and stirred it with a teaspoon.
He had done this for his father countless times and once for Quinn. Even after being robbed of his first kiss and angered half to death he still did it for her like he was right now.
After washing the cutlery he left the kitchen and walked over to the guest room. The person who had been lying in the quiet neatly had kicked the quilt and had a leg hanging halfway on the bed.
It didn't even take ten minutes for her to kick the quilt off her body. Leif tsked as he set the steaming cup on the coaster.
He reached over to help her back inside the quilt but Quinn opened her eyes into a narrow slit. She mumbled something barely audible before closing them again.
Leif's chest tightened as he stared at her. he hesitated for a moment before asking, "What did you say?"
Quinn pushed her back breathing heavily before saying again, "Liam... Le let me sleep."
Leif clenched his fist with slight annoyance. So she knew who he was? Why didn't she say anything then?
While his head was spinning she sat up with a jolt. Leif was a little startled thus he leaned back slightly afraid she would kiss him again.
"Where am I?" she asked and he finally restored his calm demeanour.
"You are at my place... oh and you stained the pillowcase with your makeup and drool," he said and Quinn couldn't help but wipe the corner of her lips with slight guilt.
"Drink this... Everything you need should be in the bathroom," he said before turning to leave.
Quinn who was still so confused about why he brought her here pulled up the quilt and asked, "Why didn't you just send me home?"
Leif's steps paused and he said, "Because now that you have signed the contract you will be at risk of getting murdered. Welcome back to a crime family," before walking out.
Quinn, "..."
This she had overlooked. That's because Leif had been known for washing the concord clean and forcing them to shift towards genuine business.
She just didn't think that her life would be put to risk the day she signed her name and became President Carnell's most beloved wife.
"Damn it," she whispered only to recall she had a mum and auntie who also needed protection.
She was still drunk and it felt like she was stepping on a fluffy cloud as she ran out of the room.
She found the bedroom door open thus she ran in and said, "What about...," but her voice came to an abrupt end as she stared blankly. She had worked in the gym for years and had bumped into an inexplicable scene a couple of times. Some were accidental but some were intentionally greeted by customers to display their strong muscles like a peacock.
