Chapter 23 - Episode 23: Sweet temptation

Teo gasped in horror and rage filled his whole being, he wasn't thinking rationally anymore.

A whirlpool of mixed emotions swirl within him, clouding his mind like and the former peaceful sky, alike to a storm breaking on the calm sea of his being.

The older male was halfway opening the door when someone jumped onto his back like a koala bear, locking his arms under the younger's tight dead grip whilst he spoke.

"That's it? You ain't even gonna ask why? Just going away?!"

He bit Josh's ear, taking him by surprise before he could defend himself.

Luckily his legs were strong enough to stand the weight of the boy's on his back, yet his body slammed the door close as it still swayed his body as he stepped forward to catch themselves from landing on the ground.

"Why did you bite me?" He asked, wishing to know the answer as to why the younger pounced on him like a raging tiger.

Teo woke up from his blind reaction, jumping down, pouting, not knowing what to say as he just realized what he did.

He truly did not know how to defend himself so his clear blue ocean eyes stared oozing out the overflowing emotions he could not name just yet.

"Aren't you gon' answer?"

Josh was flabbergasted so he demanded an answer from the younger, not noticing his tone was a little cold.

This did not help with the boy's current state, he was sensitive, maybe a little rough on the edges but that was because he had always kept himself guarded to not get hurt.

The well in his beautiful ocean eyes opened up, flooding without control.

He looked down, not wishing anyone would see his reddish nose and eyes as he couldn't stop sobbing, he didn't know why he was crying. It just hurt so much he couldn't pretend even if he wanted to.

On the other hand Josh noticed the boy turning around and walking towards the window, not speaking, shoulders slumped down, head low.

He blamed himself as he thought he hurt him with his cold words, /There you go, jerk. Think before speaking, man!/ he scolded himself, his legs carrying him towards the sad boy.

Words might be tough now as no one knew what to say, so the older wrapped his arms around the younger with hopes to lend him a crying shoulder.

Josh put his chin on Teo's shoulder, smiling, yet sad as he didn't like to see the boy crying or in pain, his compassionate side awakening.

"I didn't mean to come out as mean. But I wish I could know why you got so mad and why you bite me. I would never know if you don't tell me."

He tried to reason with the sobbing boy in his arms, even his voice was soft, yet his grip was firm but tender.

Teo understood the older one was trying to help him, but he just could not tell him he disliked what he listened to through the call.

He looked down, tears streaming down his puffed out cheeks.

Josh squeezed him a little, his soft voice keeping that fond tone, "Am I the reason for those tears?"

Teo nodded still not looking up, he was a bit embarrassed of showing his snotty face.

A soft peck on his cheek took him out of his thoughts, his turbulent blue ocean eyes met the warmth chestnut ones, as the tears vanished from his eyes.

Josh spoke softly when he noticed the boy's stunned expression on his face, "It worked, I'm sorry if I hurt you. I'll try to keep my words and voice in a light tone, does that sound better?"

Teo's puppy eyes just stared at him, admiring the male's striking handsome features, he could swear even bald the male would still look breathtaking and get his heart racing just like now.

/I really need a check up, these palpitations aren't nomal/ the blonde thought to himself.

Their faces drew closer the more they stared into each other's eyes.

It wasn't just the younger one's whose heart was speeding up a mile per minute but the older's was competing in this improvised race towards the unknown.

Their eyes roamed from their eyes to their lips as merely an inch separated them from meeting, like two cyclones revolving lost in the sea until they met at last.

Eyes closing by instinct as they could feel their hot breath falling on their lips so close to finally understand what this feeling was.

Just then the phone rang again and they bumped their foreheads when it brought them back to reality.

Josh loosened up his hold from around Teo's lean body, finding his device on the floor, he was so distracted he did know when it fell from his hands.

Teo frowned, cursing him for playing with his heart like playdough, cursing himself for wanting this and cursing the situation because an engaged man should never be in his radar, he just cursed his bloody luck.

Josh crouched down to pick the device opening the signal as he got back on his feet, he seemed calm on the outside, but his inner conflict was like a boiling volcano beneath the surface, building up on the ocean bed which no one could expect when it might just burst out.

"Mr. Duffen? This is Joseph, sorry to disturb your at this, I had an-"

Josh started speaking up through the phone as Teo observed him, crossing his arms, curious to know who this new one was.

Josh nodded when his lawyer spoke about the news flooding everywhere in the media and the lawsuit his mom had set already against Mr. Robbins, also known as Ramon Robbins, Timoteo's older brother.

He facepalmed himself as the woman had gone so far as to wanting to take every penny out of him.

"I'm perfectly fine. So cancel everything. You work for me, not her. If she calls again just say you're working on it. Don't tell her you've talked with me or I'm alive."

His voice tone was firm, much alike to a businessman setting up a trap for the competence or ready to smash his foes with a single blow after caging them.

Teo saw that cold demeanor which made him look finer, neat, and smart even though he wasn't in a suit one could sense the power through every word.

His toned yet slender body was a dangerous combination which was damaging his innocent heart, he just could not stop staring.

Josh turned around, his back facing the younger as he felt those powerful and determined eyes on him setting his face on fire, so he cleared up his throat to not miss his goal as a flash of those cavernous lips flashed before his eyes making him forget half of whatever his lawyer said.

"Just tell my dad, but no one else. Also I'll call you later to set up the details. For now nullify anything she's processing. The last thing I want is collateral damage on innocent people."

His lawyer: "she's worried about you"

Josh cut off his lawyer by interrupting him, mad at his mother's insistence to bring someone to ruin by an incident.

'Not, she's just looking after her interests. Now just do as I say and keep me informed regarding this topic. I need your boyfriend as his lawyer in case my mother goes looking for someone else to do the job."

Teo frowned when he finally paid attention to his words, especially when he mentioned his mother within the conversation.

The cut got cut a second later, Josh pocketed his device in his back pocket.

"Who was that?"

Teo asked as he did not like to be left in darkness.

"Nothing to worry about, much better? Do you still wanna be alone?"

Teo shook off his head, puckering out his lips, his eyes still a little puffy and reddish so was his nose and cheeks due to the crying.

"Want me to stay?" Josh just asked out of impulse, not expecting the boy nodding and grinning.

"Wanna talk?"

The dark-haired approached the blonde, smiling brightly, soon holding the boy's hand.

"Only if you promise to be honest."

Josh chuckled, giving his hand a slight squeeze.

"What's in it for me if I am?"

He teased the boy with his playful tone yet his fond gaze warmed up Teo's heart.

For an odd reason Teo took the initiative in something he wasn't even able to do with his crush, something about the older made him feel confident and bolder even if it was just a teensy little bit.

"You might win my phone number"

He grinned, his eyes almost disappearing as it was brighter than daylight.

/Until I see a ring on that finger I can't lose hope/ a new resolution filled Teo's heart.

Josh leaned his forehead against the boy's, his steel eyes glistening mischievously meeting playful one's.

"You know inviting the wolf into your den might not end up well, don't you?"

Teo nodded, his challenging tone testing the older, "I'm aware. So you don't want it?"
