Chapter 13 - Training (2)

Immediately the book was out, the glow on the red crystal shimmered slightly as it hovered over Alucard and began to spin around him.

The vampire was calm as he tried to gauge what the book was about to do, but so far, he could tell that it wasn't harmful. If anything, he felt a strange connection with the book, as if it were his property.

Rotating for a second later, the book eventually came to a stop and the fire page flipped open, but...

It was blank.

There were no words or letter symbols on it.

"Um, Ms. Goddess, the book is blank?"

"It's okay; that's natural since this is your first time summoning your soul book."

'Soul Book?' Alucard hikes his brows, seemingly confused. Though the name soul book sounded familiar, the vampire could only guess that it might be from Muna or Siena.

For all he knew and could remember, Muna didn't teach him any magical spells. It was only his vampire abilities.

'Come to think of it, why didn't she train me about magical spells.' Alucard thought, but the next second, he realized something. 'Right  the old Alucard didn't awaken any magical element.'

"Lucy, do you mind telling me more about this soul book? My past self had no idea about it."

"Stop stressing this goddess. Will you?"

"Sorry, Ms. Goddess, but it's your job, remember?"

"Ugh! Fine."  Lucy gave up as she explained: "A soul book is maybe the second most common thing after magic. It's a book containing all the information about your magical element. It can keep details of your 'Mana reserved', your overall stats, and spells. In short, it's just like those system novels, but quite different at the same time."

"Okay, but I can't see anything," Alucard muttered after Lucy's explanation. He glanced at the book once again, but the page was still blank like before.

"Blood drop?"

"Huh?"

"Make a cut on your hands and let the blood drop on the book."

The vampire did as the ghost girl said as he bit his thumbs and let the ball drop on the book; a while later, the book started to glow brilliantly red as it started to vibrate wildly, making the green field rustle.

Noticing this phenomenon, Alucard took a step back, as did Lucy, who was dumbfounded at the sight of the book.

"Is this how all the other books react to their owners?" Alucard asked, his gaze still fixed on the book.

"No! It only means one thing when a book reacts like this..." Lucy's voice was a little shaky, prompting Alucard to think that the ghost girl wasn't entirely sure of what she was saying.

"Can you be more specific?"

"It means that you have an origin soul book!" Lucy eventually exclaimed as the book began to approach Alucard before gently falling into his palm.

The first words written in the book were basic stats.

«SOUL BOOK»

Rank: Origin

Mana reserve: 100

Magical Elements: Lust/ Lightning/Ice

"Lucy, what is the rank or tier of soul books?" After seeing the ghost's shocked expression, Alucard was now curious.

"There are four soul book ranks, namely: normal, average, rare, and origin. And what makes the origin special is that all the spells in the origin rank soul book are several times more deadly than those in the other ranks.

"A 'low tier spell' from an origin rank soul book is several times more powerful and deadly than normal, average, and rare. What's more, the owners of this soul book are just 2 percent of this world." Lucy paused:

"Pope Anderson also has an Origin Soul book."

"That's good. Now I wouldn't look inferior to that old bastard." Alucard spoke as his eyes flashed coldly. He knew that despite them all having the same origin books, Anderson would still be stronger.

The reason? Anderson was someone who defeated the vampire progenitor and someone who was more than a century old, so what do you think someone like that will be doing all those years? He'll definitely train himself, and only God knows how much he has improved after facing Dracula.

Thinking of this, Alucard's hair stood erect as he realized how easy it would be for Anderson to kill him.

Discarding those thoughts in the meantime, the vampire asked the other pending questions in his mind.

Since Troy was an otaku who read countless books and watched numerous anime, Alucard knew some of the tabs listed in his soul book.

For instance, the mana reserve will allow him to spew as many magical spells as he can, and of course, this depends on the amount of mana. So in other words, if his mana reserve was empty, he'd not be able to use any magic.

But he had another question in his mind:

"Lucy, why are mid-tier and high-tier spells locked?"

"When the book see you fit enough, it'll unlock the mid and high tiers."

"Just that?" Alucard found the explanation vague.

Lucy shrugged and instead started skimming through the heavy chunk of book hovering beside her while squinting her eyes, seemingly immersed in whatever she was reading.

Sometime later, Alucard and Lucy stood opposite each other. For the past 30 minutes, Lucy had explained how one could use magic, and following the ghost's detailed guidance, the vampire was able to control his elements to a certain level, which was amazing, to say the least.

"Are you ready? Just so you know, this goddess won't go easy on you."

"I'm not planning on going easy on you either." A grin broke out on Alucard's face. His body tingling to fight, the vampire dashed forward.
