Chereads / Son of the Underworld / Chapter 15 - Blood of Brother

Chapter 15 - Blood of Brother

"Haemon!" In a frantic cry of pain, Zagreas lashed out at his brother, delivering many blows whose power shook the universe itself. "Ha-ha and that's the best you can do, prince? Were you that indifferent to her?" Grinning his teeth in a disgusting grimace, the barbarian blocked his brother's attacks with one hand with little effort. Haemon mocked the prince, making him feel at least a fraction of the madness he himself had experienced. "Come on, show me all the pain you've accumulated!" Once again repulsing his brother's attack, Haemon clawed at his brother's neck, then threw him against the wall with all his might. "You know I was once just like you! Ha ha silly boy believing in love and hope, dreaming of one day finding a full family and friends. Every agonizing night dreaming of touching the warmth of a family home for once. But then I woke up again and again in this crazy hell with my demons in my head! Do you have any idea what it's like to eat your own flesh and then spew it out! For even darkness can't take something as disgusting as me" Sitting on Meg's corpse while staring coldly at the hole in the wall, the barbarian slowly stroked his brother-in-law's hair.

"I will kill you! I'll tear you up and feed the rest to the dogs!" The prince hissed madly, waddling slowly from behind the wall. With a pat to his brother, Haemon nodded happily, "I hope you make it, brother! And you know, if you don't make it, I'll personally take Meg's corpse and make fun of it in your honor!" Haemon tore a strand of hair from the corpse's head and greedily sniffed at it. "Death to the enemies of Olympus!" Zagreas shouted furiously, plunging his sword into the ground and thus summoning all his strength. Clutching his sword tightly, the prince pounced on the monster in the guise of his brother with a mighty tug. The weak souls didn't even have time to taste the fear before they were immediately wiped to ashes by the most powerful pressure. Zagreas turned into a flash of white light while his brother became a dark blur. "Come on brother you are my last hope!?" Haemon whispered, opening his chest for his brother's final attack.

Meanwhile at the other end of the hall, behind a barrier woven from the stars themselves, the three brothers once again faced their worst nightmare, namely their own father. Kronos swept away their futile attempts to harm him in any way. Any attack was returned to its owner only threefold. Hades and Poseidon took over the fight at close range while Zeus tried to penetrate his defenses with long-range attacks. The lightning bolts did no harm to the time lord and he only silently tore space itself apart with his frantic sweeps of the scythe. "Damn, I'd forgotten how monstrously powerful the old man was! And this is just a fraction of him!" Poseidon somehow dodged his father's blow, thus keeping his head on his shoulders. "That vile brat somehow managed to summon the old man back from the dead!" Zeus was veined with raging rage, his golden lightning bolts beginning to take on a white light, becoming many times more powerful and dangerous. "Zeus don't get distracted! Your power can shatter the boundaries of worlds control it! Otherwise we'll have to deal with the rest of the families!" With rage in his eyes, Hades threw many blows at his father in hopes of killing him, but he wouldn't even pay attention.

The Uranus Dimension.

Nyx clashed with her own brother, the fire of hatred and sorrow burning in her eyes. A black shimmering sword appeared in her hands, the weapon impregnated with darkness itself and night cried out in a furious rush, intent on taking the king of space's life. "I see you are still not deprived of that gaze, sister?" With a slightly nervous tone in his voice, Uranus pointed to his sister's eyes. "You dare to be to me after all you have done to my family? How disgusting you are!" Nyx pointed her sword at her brother and then instantly appeared beside him, delivering as many as three blows at once. "You can't be such a vindictive person, you know!? Anger wasn't your best trait, you give in to that feeling and you start making a lot of mistakes. Like this one!" After calculating the moment, Uranus shortened his distance to his sister and immediately put her in a tight embrace, with the intention of calming her down at least a little. "That's enough! Let go of me freak! I have to go back, I have to save my son! Otherwise this beast will kill him!" A multitude of shadows immediately came to life intending to tear Uranus apart, but he summoned the light without letting go of his sister and thus driving them away. "Look at you! Wake up Nyx how can you be so indifferent to your own son. You've even stooped to the point of calling him a monster!" Uranus turned thunderously to his sister, squeezing her tighter. As befits an older brother, he decided to teach his sister a lesson.

"I'm not talking about the Haemon Fool!" Shrieked Nyx in a no-holds-barred rage, silvery tears flowing from her eyes. "Wait then, who are you talking about? Has little Zagreas got a couple of trumps stashed away with him?" Surprised, Uranus turned, loosening his grip a little. "Erebus this sick beast is on Haemon's trail!" Nyx slapped her brother's by using head sharply on the nose and thereby instantly freed herself. Stepping back a few paces, the old man asked his sister shocked, "How is this possible! After all, you and your daughter locked him up many thousands of years ago!" Nyx clenched her palm tightly into a fist unable to contain her anger at her brother she hissed angrily: "I don't know how he managed to get out of his confinement myself! The last time he left me a message, several years ago after Haemon was born. A bunch of my dead servants were lying beside my bed! And so I couldn't let that silly boy get his attention, but every last one of you has never known how to just stay out of the way of others! You absolutely have to try to ruin somebody else's life. At first all I wanted was for Haemon to just live in silence and share away from everyone else, then that obnoxious boy ended up in Tartarus because of his father! And you think I didn't want to get him out of there and take him in? Damn it, that's all I thought about every day, there wasn't a day when my tears didn't stop flowing! And instead of even a modicum of understanding, Haemon wanted to take everything away from me! I helped him grow stronger day by day, to somehow protect him from madness. And what I get in return is gratitude, contempt from my own son and brother ha-ha. Do you have any idea how difficult it is to suppress the source of nightmare powers? Haemon could look at the whole picture for once, instead of being a beast driven by lust for revenge in the name of revenge! He's a goddamn original like his brothers, not an Olympian!? If fate has decided that his place is by his father's throne as his slave, then so be it! Haemon is a selfish prick like you Uranus, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. You are both only capable of thinking of your own greatness! You hear brother it was me who went to Morpheus himself and asked him to start suppressing Haemon's powers so that Erebus would not find him! I was not the one who truly protected him! But no Haemon still listens to advice from crazy grandfather Uranus!" The Queen of the Night resembled a madman's worst nightmares, her boundless rage tearing through space itself and setting out to torment other worlds. Her ravenous shadows crept like serpents through the borders of the world, wreaking havoc in the multiverse itself.

"Wait, so all this time you've been preventing the boy from reaching his true potential!?" Uranus stared at the demon in his sister's guise with frantic shock. "His potential? Ha-ha my son had no powers to begin with. The world of the night immediately rejected him after he was born," Nyx pounced on her brother like a panther, intending to rip his tongue out. "But as soon as he entered Tartarus, he accepted it! Am I right?" By dodging it, the old man managed to escape his sister's claws, but they still wounded him in the cheek. "Answer me!" Shrieked Uranus, delivering a powerful blow to his sister's face and sending her flying. "Yes!" She hissed, getting to her feet. "Damn! You're even worse than Gaia!" The old man muttered, spitting blood. The darkness began to slowly eat away at his flesh in the area of his cheek. Placing his palm on the wound, the old man summoned a snow-white flame and burned away the contagion. "Don't you dare! You hear me, don't you dare even mention her!" Nyx roared like a lioness and lunged at her brother again. He prepared to counterattack, but something went wrong. Nyx, with tears in her eyes, fell to her knees. "Sister!" Uranus quickly ran up to her frightened that something had happened. "Haemon! Brother I stopped feeling him, he's gone, he's just gone! Ha ha ha ha aaaaah!" Clutching her head tightly with both hands, Nyx turned to her brother with incredible pain in her eyes.

The Feast Hall.

At the very center stood two unmoving figures, one much taller than the other, while the other held tightly to the sword that was thrust into the heart of the giant. "I'm sorry I couldn't!" The prince whispered before collapsing into his brother's arms. He caught him gently with tears in his eyes and whispered goodbye: "I honestly believed in you maybe even more than the others! And maybe things would have been different if it were not for our fate. Forgive, brother, truly forgive!" Haemon's armor turned into a multitude of snakes devouring his brother's flesh. "Eh, is this really the end of my revenge?!" For the first time in years, Haemon smiled genuinely. "The end you say, Haida pig!?" A frantic voice arose behind the warrior's back and before he could do anything, all his muscles failed. Ha ha ha who knew that the consequences of eating Tartarus' flesh would manifest themselves so ill-timed. "Die brat!" A voice hissed and then struck a powerful blow with the halberd. Everything suddenly froze and the barbarian's entire gut was screaming at him about the danger, and that he needed to dodge this blow at all costs. "Haemon no!" Someone else shouted, pushing him aside. The voice definitely belonged to Mara-it was definitely him! A similar thought flashed through his mind before he fell through the black portal that opened beneath his feet. The last thing Haemon heard was a woman's sharp cry of pain as the iron sliced into her flesh.
