Chapter 4 - Commission

"Hey boss, how does someone go about grafting a piece of a monster on themselves?" Damian stands besides Jason as they wait in an abandoned storage facility.

"Well first you have to train your mind and body, if you can't you'll end up becoming a monster. Have plenty of fresh blood on hand, or else the part will become useless. Most importantly have an undamaged piece of the monster you want to graft on." Jason lays back in a chair, lowering the book he was reading, and recalling the steps to grafting.

"How would the training work if I wanted, let's say an eye?" Damian taps on his eyepatch.

"You'd have to ask Natalie, she actually has experience with grafting an eye." Jason points over to a corner where Natalie is sitting alone.

"Right. Thanks." Damian sighs and begins making his way to her.

"Goodluck." Jason places the book he was reading over his face.

"Natalie? Jason mentioned you have experiance grafting on an eye." Damian stares at the floor, unable to look at her.

"Usually that's the first thing people notice about me. What do you want?" She gives Damian a chilling gaze.

"I'm currently in need of an eye, and I would like your help with my training." He briefly glances up making eye contact.

"Fine, but only because Jason would bug the shit out of me if I didn't. You will listen to everything I have to say." She groans before standing and putting a finger into Damian's chest.

The large metal doors to the facility begin to open with a loud creak. The entire crew looks over in anticipation, as walking through the door are three men. The two on the sides are both large and muscular, one has numerous arms, and the other has a crab claw and ram horns. The man in the middle seems in business attire, he also has a snake coming out his back. As the men approached Jason the crew members gathered next to him.

"Jason my good friend, let's get right to business. I have a client looking for fifty gallons of clean blood." The center man spoke with authority in his voice.

"What's the pay rate?" Jason leans forward, his interest clearly peaked.

"Nothing, unless you can get the amount asked for by the end of this week, then you'll be looking forward to three hundred thousand credits." The man waits for Jason's response.

"Getting one gallon is hard enough, and you're expecting us to get fifty in a week!? I don't think it's even possible." Jason rubs his brow as he thinks.

"Well, if you change your mind and manage to get the requested amount, the offer still stands." The man turns and walks out with his bodyguards.

"Boss, are you sure you can't get that much?" Damian walks up to Jason.

"We're not the best at collecting blood, that's why we specialize in selling monster parts." Jason places a hand on Damian's shoulder.

"But I was able to extract two quarts from the small, gray, bat faced creatures." Damian itches his head in confusion.

"How is that possible!?" Jason stands up and nearly causes Damian to stumble.

"I made a mechanical syringe that extracts nearly all the blood." Damian does a hand motion of his syringe extracting blood.

After a short pause Jason sits back down. "Can you show Henry and Grant how you made this?" Jason seems to be doing math in his head.

"I don't see why not." Damian shrugs.

"I knew I liked you the second I saw you!" Jason looks at Damian with a huge smile. "You are more than just a member of the team now." He slaps Damian in the back.

Damian shows off his syringe and dismantles it while Henry watches and Grant records it. He helps the others find materials and build some of their own. On their hunting trips they collect more blood in a day than they even thought possible.

Damian Stands in a room wearing a blindfold, Natalie dashes around him jabbing him with a stick. She tests his eye sight by having him look at a letter from across an old highway. At the end of the week Damian can throw a dagger across a vast distance with deadly accuracy and can even sense movement a short distance around him.

The well dressed man appears in the abandoned warehouse as the group waits for him.

"So I take it you managed to collect the requested amount?" He stands alone this time and with a smile across his face.

Without a word Jason reaches behind himself, pulling out two barrels, each with a fifty gallon label.

"Double? And here you said it was impossible." The man laughs to himself.

"Would have been, however we got a new member recently who found a way to get more faster." Jason keeps eye contact.

"Interesting, well we'll meet up later today and I will give you your pay plus extra." He turns and walks away again.
