Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Magus Academy part 1

Magus Academy, one of the most prestigious schools in the kingdom of Symark. A school where all the rich nobles go to enroll

all their snot nosed brats. Though I wouldn't go far as to say all of them are nobles, but around 80% of the school are nobles and the remaining 20% are commoners.

My name is Rogue Noctis Alvenhiem, son of the world renowned 'Magic Saint' Boreas Alvenhiem, who is believed to be the strongest mage to ever walk the earth. Being the son of the 'Magic Saint' has its pros and cons, pros like becoming highly versed in the art of sorcery to the point of creating my own spells, and some cons like always being in my father's shadow, even after my name has already been made public, what really annoys me is the fact I am always refered to as son of the magic saint not Rogue Alvenhiem, so... yeah I got that going for me.

It was quite early in the morning, the sun was barely out and It was rather quite, expect for the cheer of a certain young man as he soared around the front yard of mansion, he had back length, smooth snow white hair, prominent white eyelashes with jade colored eyes, " those old bag of bones probably still trying to deduce the concept of [Flight Magic], I mean who wouldn't, just it's sheer complexity is enough to defy logic but... that's the point of wielding magic, to defy all logic". I said to no one in particular as I executed some loops.

My instinct kicked in as I impulsively dodged a fire ball hurled at my direction as I panickingly try to regain my balance in tmid-air, I turn ed to the direction the fire ball came from only to be met by an all to familiar, smug looking face of man in his late 30's with jet-black, slicked-back hair. He had hazel-nut eyes with a slightly stubbed chin, wearing blue bathing robes with two folders in his hand.

"would you get that loud ass of yours down this instant". He called me with his tone carrying a hint of annoyance, though it's not surprising since it happens

on a daily basis, I wakeup, cause a disturbance, get chased like there's no tomorrow. Ah... good times...

"Looks like you're enjoying your morning old man, but what's with the grumpy face". Greeted the young teen in a cheeky manner as he gracefully landed on his feet with a cat like agility as soon as he cancelled his [flight] spell.

"I was enjoying it, until a certain brat decided to screw it up, you know what it doesn't matter anymore we got bigger problems, it turns out their on the move". Replied his father exasperatedly as hands the folder to his son as he's cheerful smile got replaced with a frown as he ran through the contents in it. According to the information the old man received from his 'spy network', a handful of members of the 'Goldheart Faction' just recently infiltrated Magus Academy and are currently, disguised as regular transfer students, but what doesn't makes sense is the fact that the principal of Magus Academy: Professor Leonard Reindart hasn't made any moves to apprehended them yet. As a principal he should have little to no problem spotting the fake among the original transcripts, it all just doesn't add up unless... no, no, no, damnit, how the fuck did the council not notice this conspiracy happening right under their noses, and with an angry grunt I snapped the folder shut and handed it back as my father as we both locked eyes for a while as the tense atmosphere increased by tenfold. Neither of us spoke a word until my old man decided to break the silence.

"Sooo... you figured it out too huh? didn't strike Leonard as the treacherous type". Asked the 'magic saint' wearily as he took a deep breath to clear his mind. The current information just made all his planning for his upcoming raid seem like wasted efforts, not to mention the fact that Leonard works for the council; which means all their plans to capture the Goldheart Faction had been delivered to their foes on a silver platter *tsk*. he thought with a click of his tongue.

"So what now? should we report the council about it"?. I asked for the old mans thought on the topic, because there isn't really much that can be done, it's not like he can arrest him without any concrete evidence.

"Don't worry I already reported it before seeing you, normally I would go after them self but it so happens that a branch of the 'Goldheart faction' has been discovered and am needed to pay them a surprise visit". He replied with a confident smirk. With a branch just recently discovered, someone else has to join the fray, but who? I asked completely oblivious to the mischievous grin growing on the old mans face.

"You of course young man", he replied as he poked my chest. "so... what do ya say"? he asked as I looked at him as if he grew another head

"Father", I put my right hand on his right shoulder as I had a blank look on my face.

"Son", He replied as he did the same with his face carrying a hint of hope.

"No", I replied flatly, "I told you before that I will never work for the council", I told him pointedly before I spun on my heel and start walking away.

"Come on, I know you really hate the council, maybe not as much as your mother but... you know what I mean. And it's not like I'm sending you there for undercover, but also to make friends like a normal kid". My father tried persuading me and I have to admit he got my attention, I've spent years living here for as long as I remember on a private island in the middle of nowhere and I can't confidently say I can hold my own in a conversation with someone other than my parent's.

I stopped walking for a few seconds, mulling over what he told me, I let out a sigh before turning around to face him before saying, "Fine I'll do it but under one condition; I'll be bringing be sword with me".

"oh... that sword of yours, I still don't get how you were able forge it when you never left the island, but sure you can take it with you, it's not like you need it.

While you're there just try not to maim someone's kid", the magic saint tells me dryly.

"I make no promises", I retorted with a roll of my eyes. I could empathize with him, all things considered the only word that could be used to describe my sword was 'OP'. The sword itself was only meant to be drawn when all else goes to hell, still can't forget priceless look on his face when utterly I curb stomped him the moment I drew it.

The poor old man thought it was some kind of fluke, after explaining my swords special ability he looked crestfallen muttering things

along the lines of "being bested by a kid", which I ignored.

"Make all the necessary preparations, you will be leaving for Magus Academy

tomorrow by 8 o'clock, sharp". He says to me as he draws another folder out of thin air before handing it to me, I quickly ran through it's contents from top to bottom, it was a new identity my father must have forged for me, from the information I would be playing a noble by name of; Noctis Alabaster, 15 years of age and a first year transfer student from 'Spectrum Academy' in the kingdom of Astrialys.

My father started walking away while saying, "I'll inform your mother that you'll be leaving tomorrow and hopefully she wouldn't skewer me for letting you do the council's dirty work. As he walked away I could have sworn I saw him shiver a bit as he mentioned my mom but I merely shrugged and ignored it.

Guess I have preparations to make, cause starting from tomorrow I'll be leaving finally leaving this darn island. Not to long ago I was flying about trying to cause a disturbance, now I'm preparing to go on and infiltrate the most prestigious school amongst all kingdoms.

*sigh*... Good grief.
