After one month of waiting for the announcement of SNMPTN graduation, finally the announcement has been issued. Ana goes to Asih's or her school friend's house accompanied by her father on a motorcycle, she goes there to connect to wifi because she doesn't have a data plan for internet. After arriving at his friend's house, with impatience he immediately turned on his cell phone and immediately saw the graduation announcement. His body was shaking 'oh my god, I hope I pass SNMPTN' he muttered to himself when he was going to check the graduation announcement. However, after the announcement was checked, it turned out that Ana was declared not to have passed. He felt very disappointed, and the look in his eyes looked as if he couldn't hold back tears, lamenting the reality that didn't match his expectations at that time.
"An, did you escape?" Asih asked.
Ana only replied with a smile and shook her head indicating that she did not pass the SNMPTN.
"You have to be patient," Asih said.
Ana returns home and is picked up by her father. When he got home, he immediately ran into his bedroom and lay down on the bed and cried. He repeatedly opened his cell phone and observed the words 'You are declared not to have passed the 2021 SNMPTN' displayed on his cellphone screen. He also felt confused about how to explain this to his parents later, he thought his parents would be disappointed if they found out that their child had not passed the SNMPTN.
Ana sent a WhatsApp message to Ira. "Ira" he wrote.
"Yes An, did you pass SNMPTN?" asked by Ira.
"No" replied Ana
"Yeah! but it's okay, you have to keep your spirits up because you can still register for the SBMPTN," said Ira while inserting a sad emoji.
"I feel really disappointed, Ra, it turns out that the results didn't meet my expectations," Ana replied while inserting a crying emoji.
"Don't be sad, try to get up and try again" said Ira.
"I can't, I still feel disappointed and sad, and if my parents know about this, surely they will also feel sad," replied Ana.
"Yeah, well, but you have to be able to convince yourself that you can definitely achieve your goals in the future," said Ira.
Ana came out of her bedroom and walked towards the living room taking food on the dining table. Seeing a packet of packaged coffee milk lying on the dining table, he immediately boiled water in the kitchen to brew the coffee milk. When he had served the drink, his mother came over to him who was sitting at the dining table.
"Kid, how is the announcement that you have seen, did you pass?" asked his mother.
"I didn't escape, Mom," Ana answered in a weak voice.
"Then, do you want to take the test again for the next time? What tests have you told Mother apart from SNMPTN?" asked his mother.
"SBMPTN (Joint Selection for State University Entrance) Ma'am," said Ana. "Yes, God willing, I will join SBMPTN," he continued.
Ana was buzzing in her heart 'oh my God. Hopefully at SBMPTN, I can register at the Faculty of Medicine'. He was worried that at SBMPTN he would not be allowed to register at the Faculty of Medicine. Every time, Ana contemplates her life full of turmoil as a result of not being able to pass SNMPTN, and she still doesn't feel sincere and can't accept the truth.
Two days before the closing of the SBMPTN registration, Ana went to Asih's house in the evening. It was common for him to go to Asih's house just to hitch a ride to connect to wi-fi when he didn't have a quota/data package. Arriving at Asih's house, Ana immediately turned on her cellphone and opened her LTMPTN account to choose a major for SBMPTN registration. It was true, the Faculty of Medicine and even the Faculty of Dentistry were not provided for graduating students from SMK. Until Ana felt confused about choosing a major other than medicine and dentistry. He switched to opening the KIP Lecture portal to synchronize SBMPTN registration to the KIP Lecture account so that he would not pay the selection fee when he wanted to take part in the SBMPTN. The clock on his cellphone showed half past 10 at night, he finally decided to go home from Asih's house.
Just as the last day of SBMPTN registration was about to close, in the evening Ana rushed to the counter to buy a quota. When he got there, he went into his bedroom and opened his LTMPT account again to choose a major for SBMPTN registration. Not long after, suddenly the electricity suddenly went out and the signal automatically changed to be unstable and slow, moreover, his cellphone's battery power was only 15%. Ana felt very panicked because registration would close at 23.00 that night, whereas at that time it was already 21.34 and she had not chosen a major at all. He rushed to make a decision very hastily without good consideration because he was worried if his cellphone died due to the battery power starting to decrease. He immediately chose the same two majors, namely veterinary medicine at two different campuses namely Airlangga University and Padjadjaran University. Even though Ana really didn't like the veterinary medicine department, she deliberately chose that department just because she was pressed for time that kept getting closer to the deadline and worried that her cell phone would die. Ana definitely felt very sorry for choosing that major.
A day passed, his mother asked him, "So what major do you choose?".
"I chose to major in veterinary medicine, ma'am. I've searched all over the campuses that are on the SBMPTN list, but none of them allow vocational high school graduates to register for medical majors, even in the Dentistry department," Ana replied.
"Ha! Why did you choose to major in veterinary medicine, what will you do when you graduate? In the village where we live, there are very few opportunities to open a veterinary practice, children. Rarely do villagers want to have animals examined by a veterinarian." asked and said his mother.
"Later, I can practice outside the city and village where we live, ma'am," said Ana.
"If you get a job opportunity or open a practice outside the city. But if not, then how?". said and asked his mother.
Ana could not answer the questions her mother kept asking. Her mother strongly discouraged her from enrolling in a veterinary department. However, her mother told her to enroll in other majors, namely nursing and pharmacy, but Ana did not want to obey her mother's words because she also did not like nursing or pharmacy majors. However, because he had already registered to major in veterinary medicine, whether he was ready or not, he had to take part in the SBMPTN according to the schedule he had obtained.
