Chapter 8 - Seven

SMKs where Ana attended school were holding a meeting as well as the distribution of report cards for the odd Mid Semester Examination results, the event was attended simultaneously by all parents of students from grades 10-11. All parents of students are called by each homeroom teacher to come forward and receive the handover of report cards. Arrived when Ana's mother was called by the homeroom teacher and then she walked forward to face the homeroom teacher. When the report cards were about to be given, the homeroom teacher told Ana's mother that Ana wanted to study at the Faculty of Medicine after graduating from Vocational High School.

"Mom. Your child actually wants to study at the Faculty of Medicine, "said the homeroom teacher.

Instantly, Ana's mother felt shocked after hearing the words made by the homeroom teacher, "ha! Medical school is expensive sir, while I myself don't have much money and can't afford to pay for my child to study at the Faculty of Medicine," said Ana's mother with bulging eyes and tense facial expression.

"Don't worry ma'am, I will help you find a scholarship. The problem of costs can be alleviated with scholarship assistance," said the homeroom teacher.

"Before, Ana never talked about or told me about it, how come you suddenly said she wanted to study at the Faculty of Medicine," said Ana's mother.

"Yes, maybe because the person didn't have the courage to tell this to Mother, and through me, she told me about it," said the homeroom teacher.

After a few hours, finally the event was over and all the parents brought along their report cards and food boxes to take home. Arriving at Ana's mother's house, she immediately approached Ana who was sitting on the living room sofa, that's where the debate began.

"Ana. Why did you tell your homeroom teacher that you wanted to study medicine?" a sudden statement from Ana's mother.

"My homeroom teacher once asked me what he wanted to be, and I said I wanted to be a doctor. Then why ma'am? It's a good dream," said Ana.

"But son, I don't have much money to pay for your medical studies," said Ana's mother.

"I'll be able to find a scholarship Ma'am. You don't just have to pay for it yourself," said Ana.

"Yes, if you can. But if not, then how?" said Ana's mother.

"I will definitely try to get a scholarship, ma'am, anyway you have to be sure that I can get a scholarship to study medicine," said Ana to convince her mother.

"Yes, if you want to get a scholarship, you have to be smart and always study hard," said Ana's mother.

"Yes Ma'am, I will definitely study diligently and diligently, the important thing is that you can support me," said Ana.

Hearing that his son was adamant that he wanted to study at the Faculty of Medicine, he still wasn't fully willing to support and approve of his son. The debate between Ana and her mother has ended. His mother went to the next door neighbor's house to gossip about her own son who persistently asked to study at the Faculty of Medicine. Ana peeked through the living room window to see and hear her mother gossiping on her neighbor's porch.

"When I was at school to get Ana's report card, the homeroom teacher said to me like this "Your child wants to study medicine" and obviously I was immediately shocked to hear that," her mother confided

neighbors, imitating the words spoken by homeroom teacher at that time.

The neighbor's spontaneous response after hearing her mother Ana's story just laughed out loud, as if she was taking it lightly that it was impossible for an innocent girl like Ana to study at the Faculty of Medicine.

"Yes, there is that child," continued Ana's mother.

Hearing and seeing the response of her neighbors, Ana felt so annoyed, "Rather than your children, none of their behavior is right," she muttered to herself. After his mother returned home, the child did not make the slightest comment to his mother, he only endured the hurt of being belittled by his own neighbors. With great annoyance, Ana went to the bedroom and ignored her mother again.
