At the same time, she missed to grasp or sense the danger that was leisurely surrounding her with heavy steps. As her tummy was full and her mood elevated, she felt an immense sense of satisfaction in her heart. So she happily decided to take a quick nap until the next bus arrived on that route.
She picked her bag and extended her hands on top of the rock. After placing the backpack at the edge of the rock, she patted the bag twice to even it like a head pillow. Then she dropped her head on top of the bag and spread her body across the rock. But before she could even close her eyes, she heard a loud howling nearby and jumped up in fright.
In her immense sense of enjoying her hearty meal, she didn't realize that the insects and birds around the forest which had been making a lot of noise when she got down from the bus had gone silent all of a sudden. She looked around with cautious eyes and examined her surroundings.
"Please don't tell me, I am in the big bad wolf's forest which my sisters kept on telling me to not go..." Mila gulped and jumped down from the rock.
Her mother and her sisters had warned her several times to never enter the wolf's forest even in her dreams. She scratched her head and tried to remember the reason why they told her such a thing. But she could not recall the reasons even after she racked her brain so many times.
As she was never interested in their stories, her brain must have stored the details temporarily and later permanently deleted it from her memory storage. Since she decided to push those warnings to the back of her mind and ignore them, now she could not grasp the danger of her presence that made for a certain wolf clan.
"If I stay on the road then I don't think they would come up to meet me and scare me, right? Anyhow, they might just be passing by or searching for their next hunt. I better not disturb them and run away from here before they could even smell me," Mila mumbled as she thought that was the best solution she could come up with at that moment.
She turned around and picked her backpack after deciding to run as fast as she could to get as far as possible from there. But to her bad luck, the minute she spun around, she noticed a couple of fiery eyes staring at her. There were more than five wolves blocking her path while baring their shiny white teeth right at her.
"Good Kittie… Kittie… Come on Kittie, Kittie… Please let me pass through this area… Who is the good Kittie?" Mila tried to coax them but only to make those wolves aggrieved by her words.
"Oh! Don't they belong in the dog breed?" She wondered loudly and irritated the wolves even more.
Looking at their angry faces, she trembled and gripped her backpack. She then in a shaky voice, mumbled, "My mistake, My mistake, I agree. I am sorry… Sorry… dear puppies…"
With steady hunting steps, the furious wolves approached her at once and jumped on top of her. But Mila was slightly faster than them and those wolves missed her by an inch. The minute Mila realized the threat she was under, she instantly swished her backpack behind her back and darted from there like an arrow.
But as if the wolves had already predicted her to move in that same direction, they hopped right in front of her. Then they surrounded her completely and stopped her from having any chance to escape from them.
"Come on, guys! Let me go! I mean no harm to you guys. You do know that right? So why are you even blocking my way?" Mila demanded and tried to talk her way out with those hungry wolves.
In response, the wolves howled even more loudly at her and invited the nearby other wolves to join the hunt.
"No! This can't be happening to me. I am not your meal and I won't die here, when I have only escaped from my home a couple of hours ago. I have yet to see the outside world and meet my charming prince," Mila declared to those wolves.
Then with a determined look sprang a little and stamped one of the wolves under her feet. She then leaped forward while stepping on one wolf after another and made her escape once more time. Without looking behind her, she ran as fast as she could while holding on to her dear life in her hands.
Still the wolves were much faster than her and once again caught her in no time. They bounded after her mightily and brought her down with one quick shift move.
"No! NO! NO! Let go of me… you big bad wolves… I said let go of me…" She screamed at top of her lungs but it only turned the wolves extremely fierce.
When Mila fell on the ground, her head hit a small stone and she immediately lost consciousness. The wolves then sniffed at her once before dragging her deep into the forest.
As she was not awake, she did not realize that the wolves which attacked her had brought her into a mansion that was located in the middle of the woods. Her hands and legs were tied together as she was thrown in one corner like a piece of garbage bag which was at disposal. Also, the things inside her backpack were spilled on the floor near her.
One of the women who looked like a maid thoroughly examined Mila's body and then held her wrist to check the pulse. She then walked near the person who was sitting like a king on the dragon's chair and informed him in a calm voice,
"Master, she does not have anything suspicious with her. But she is indeed a young witch. Her powers are not yet awakened and she does have a little resemblance to the one we are searching for!"
The person she was reporting did not utter a single word after hearing that. He simply had an expressionless face and stared at the woman lying on the floor unconscious.
"Maybe, she was just passing by and the guards must have mistaken her for a witch who came to steal from us once again," The butler Max suggested as he glanced at the poor girl with a little sympathy.
Harold did not respond to him as well and continued to look fixedly at the girl's face with a little amusement. He had not seen any youngsters come to this area for a long time now. Especially after his son left the forest to start his own business in the nearby city.
Butler Max who was standing on the left hand side of Harold, noticed the change in his master's expression. Then he looked at the pitiful girl with a slight bitterness. He was sure that this girl must have had a scare of her life when those wolves attacked her.
But now as he realized his master's interest towards this girl, he was unsure how he should pursue this matter further. He also wondered what made this small girl come all the way here to their hidden forest.
