"You didn't have to quit, Gabriel. I was the one targeted in the scandal and I'm sure they wouldn't mind you staying." Zoe said to him on their way home.
Gabriel turned to her and answered, "I came there because of you. What's the use of staying if you're no longer there?"
To be honest, that was the sweetest word Gabriel had ever said to her and she melted like butter under the sun. The ride back home had been pretty much normal and they made a lot of jokes, purposely refusing to admit the more urgent matter. She was currently jobless.
"I think I need to go to my room and rest," Zoe told him as soon as they were home.
"Zoe…." Gabriel walked towards her but she shot him an assuring smile, rubbing her hands down his arms till she took his hands in hers, "I'm fine." She told him.
Zoe stood on her toes, kissed him, and left.
