Chapter 4 - First encounter

Athena's Point of View:

We quickly entered the classroom, and I recognized our future instructor right away. I swear, I didn't mean for anyone to stare at me or make assumptions about me solely based on the way I looked. When I heard our teacher's heels, I took a deep breath. She raised an eyebrow, and I turned to face her.

"Transferee?" We nodded, but she looked at me for a long time. "Can you please remove your mask? It's not appropriate to wear a mask here in our school and I hope you read all the rules here."

Each of us exchanged glances. I bit my lip since it seemed like I should be removing it. They give me concerned looks as they stare at me, but I just nodded because we are only in the classroom and I don't think they will remember me. They all gasped slowly as I slowly removed my mask, as if they had just seen me for the first time

"You're familiar," said our teacher, so I swallowed. "Anyways, kindly introduce yourself so we can know you all better."

As soon as we got inside, I noticed that they were staring at me, so I quickly put my hands in my pocket. They gave their introduction, and I nodded but shook my head since I felt as like they were staring into my soul, which is uncomfortable for me.

"Athena Louise Dizon," I said calmly and looked at them one by one.

Joy was sitting directly next to me when we immediately found a seat. Since I haven't seen her in months, it comes as a surprise to me that she is present. I do, in fact, miss her. The morning lesson began quickly, so I started writing and doing whatever else needed to be done.

She replied calmly, "So now, for the transferee here, you need to finish the assignment before the deadline and I want all of you to become more productive and more committed to your studies. Since you are all in senior high school, I assumed that you were all familiar with the guidelines that apply in our classroom."

She is talking in front of me while I write what she is saying. I really want to study so that the Chairman would know that I'm doing what I enjoy doing when we meet. When he was nearby or by my side, I always gave it my all because I never wanted to make him unhappy. However, now that I know who my real mother is, I am even more upset as a result of what I discovered.

We all nodded and paid close attention to what she said. "Kindly write what's written on the board. You need to do that precisely and if you don't, don't expect your marks to be as high as what you intended. Remember that you are students and it is your obligation to accomplish the activities."

I inhaled deeply. When I won't need to hide anymore just because I'm Buenaventura, I'm not sure when I'll be free from everything. Given that I was never a member of their family, I wonder whether they are still hunting for me. When you are not related to someone by blood, no matter how hard you try, you sometimes just don't sense their concern for you.

I came to the realization that I also needed to be independent. Because I am my only ally, I also need to be alone. Because no one is available to help me, I must rely only on myself. I don't want to consider being alone because I felt complete and like a person as long as Rina was here.

"Athena." I blinked when I heard Joy's voice. "Are you okay? You don't write anymore. Is it because of Kiro earlier in the canteen?"

I squinted. Kiro is the name of the man, and when I first saw him, I could sense his dissatisfaction and hatred toward me. I have the ability to read people's minds through their eyes, and because of this, I am able to learn new information quickly. I was able to read that man's eyes right away.

"I don't even know him." She breathed deeply. "Another thing, I don't care anymore because you know why I'm here."

"How many years have you been gone," she said in a low voice. "I don't know what happened to you after that night and you gave me too much to think about."

She shook her head as I apologized to her with a smile. Joy decided she didn't want to carry her belongings when eating, so we headed straight to the locker room after our class. There are a lot of students here, and I'm not sure why they are looking at me, so I turned to look at Joy, who was frowning.

"Is my eye liner okay?" I asked. "I don't know why they're looking."

She looked at the students and laughed. "Maybe they're insecure. You're so beautiful, especially when you don't have a mask on."

I instantly followed her to the canteen after shaking my head. Since I want to dance and play volleyball, I also intend to enroll in this large school to pursue those careers. I would also like to find a way to lower my tuition because I need to save money for the health center I will open and any more I may open in the future.

"Kiro! OMG he's so hot!"

"God! Austin!"

"The Dragons are here!"

Because of the girls' loud screaming, I grimaced. I turned to gaze in the direction I was going when I noticed the man I had before; his expression was pouting, and his lip ring and cross piercing on his right ear had made him the center of attention.

We turned to face Joy, who said, "They are the Dragons. They are gangsters, and there are plenty of them here. The man in the middle, Kiro, is referred to as the "Red Dragon" because of his skill with weapons and in battle. Since Austin is skilled with computers while the other two, Charlie and Jordan, are skilled in hand-to-hand combat and with women, Austin is referred to as the hacker and tracker of the gang."

Because they appeared to be gangsters, the four of us nodded. He was staring at me for a while until our eyes locked, and I could tell that he was dumbfounded. We were still looking at each other when someone almost hit me with a bottle of water that had been thrown on my side. I gasped when I noticed a shake. That's why I immediately stood so that I could save my clothes.

"Shit!" Sky in a loud voice. "What's wrong with you?"

Three people were in front of me when I turned to look at the offender. I inhaled deeply and thought, "Perhaps this is how they welcome kids." My brow furrowed even more as I noticed that Kiro was the one grinning broadly among his friends.

"Welcome to our school, woman." She chuckled. "Anyways, since you are here at our school you should be very careful of your moves, look, and words because you might not be at our school for a few days."

"Are you done talking?" I asked firmly and her grin disappeared. "Then if you're done, can I go now?"

It was as if an angel passed through all of us. She seemed embarrassed to look at me so I took a deep breath and slowly removed my coat and only the crochet top was left on my body. I don't want everything to ruin my eye liner.

"How dare you?" she whispered angrily and emphatically. "Watch your words lady! You're new here, but if you can speak, it's like you can make us obey with your words."

They shook their heads at me as I turned to look at Sky, who was a long distance away. I then took a deep breath. This is the first one; when it comes to the second, I have no idea how to handle them. They were surprised to see me because I quickly threw the shake that was nearby on their table after turning to face Kiro. Kiro, in particular, was surprised because he immediately stood up.

I moved quickly over to him and grabbed his collar. He gave me a startled look, but I kept my eyes locked on him. He finds it difficult to look me in the eyes because he knows he is guilty, yet I want to laugh at the bravery on his face.

I smiled as I noticed the fear on his face and said, "I don't even need to inquire who's behind this trash. You...had best be careful what you do because maybe when you turn your back, my fist will come up against your face."
