Chapter 15 - The boy that saves her

*****

Jasmine was held back at school today because she had classroom duty.

After completing her duty, Jasmine waved goodbye to her duty partner and headed home.

As usual, Jasmine preferred to walk home from school rather than taking the bus home.

Her house was quite a distance from the school, but it wasn't that far as well.

Jasmine preferred to walk as she could save the money for the bus fee for her shopping spree. As she comes from an average household, she couldn't ask her father for extra pocket money to sustain her shopping habits.

Jasmine didn't mind walking home as she knew a shortcut to her house.

There was a small alley next to the convenience store that let her cross to the other side without having to go all around the block.

She took the path daily without any problems.

However unlucky for her, today she encountered a group of delinquents who were loitering behind the convenience store.

"What a trash," she murmured.

"What do you say?" One of the boys, who was just putting on a helmet, caught what Jasmine said.

"Trash? Are you that good?" he asked, scoffing, while scanning Jasmine up and down.

Jasmine just walked down the alley without paying him any heed, as that was the best thing she thought to do.

However, the other delinquents didn't share the same idea.

Seeing Jasmine walking alone, and ignoring their leader, they surrounded Jasmine.

"Did she call you trash, Big Brother?" they asked their leader.

"Whatever. Girls with skimpy clothes are trash too," the leader replied, "I'm out of here, I'll see you guys tonight," the boy said and got on the super bike that was parked at the side.

Jasmine scoffed when the leader zoomed away with his bike.

'Skimpy clothes?' Jasmine looked at herself. She did make her skirt shorter than the actual size to make it look trendy, however, to call her a trash? She was huffing.

Putting her anger aside, Jasmine ignored the leader's remarks and resumed walking down the alley.

However, "Where are you running off so fast, let's hang out here for a while," one of the other delinquents that was still there blocked her way.

"Let me go, my dad's a policeman," said Jasmine.

"Yeah, and my dad is the Country President," he replied, rolling his eyes. "How many times have I heard that threat? All you girls are the same. Using the police name," the boy didn't believe Jasmine's claims.

"I'm telling the truth! My dad is a policeman. You all will be in trouble if I call him," Jasmine clenched her hands and gritted her teeth.

They all just laughed, seeing her angry face.

In their eyes, she looks adorable, with a reddened face and fierce look, like a kitten.

Ignoring Jasmine's threats, the boy came closer to Jasmine, pushing her back to be cornered by the wall.

Jasmine's hand secretly reached for her keychain hanging from her backpack. A device that her dad had given her in case of emergency.

However, before her hands could touch it, the door next to her opened, and a boy holding a garbage bag walked out.

The boy saw how Jasmine was cornered by the delinquent; he threw the garbage bag to the delinquent's face and grabbed Jasmine to stand behind his back.

The delinquent that was thrown with the garbage bag got mad and pulled the boy by his collar.

He punched the boy in his face and the others joined to beat the boy up.

Jasmine gasped, seeing how the group of delinquents beat the boy up, and she quickly grabbed her keychain and pulled it.

The sound of a police siren sounded, and the delinquents quickly scurried away without checking the source of the sound.

Jasmine dashed towards the boy who she had noticed was the part-timer that worked at the convenience store, by the clothes he was wearing.

"Are you alright?" she asked.

'Stupid question, he was beaten up, of course he's not alright.'

"I'm fine," the boy hissed when he opened his mouth to answer Jasmine.

Jasmine extended her hands to help the boy up. They both went inside the convenience store.

"Do you have a first aid kit here?" Jasmine asked as she helped the boy sit on the stool.

"There's one behind the counter," replied the boy.

Jasmine quickly went to look for the first aid kit and brought it back to the boy.

"Let me treat your wounds," she said, and without waiting for the boy's replies, she wiped the boy's wounds with a wet handkerchief to clean the wounds first.

"Thank you for saving me back there," thanked Jasmine.

The boy snickered, "You don't need my help at all," he answered, "it ended up with you saving me," he added.

They both looked at each other and laughed.

"It's the thoughts that count," replied Jasmine.

'I feel like a damsel in distress being saved by a knight,' Jasmine squealed in her mind.

She peeked at the boy and scanned his face, 'not bad. He's good looking. I think I've seen him before. Oh duh! He works at this convenience store. I might have seen him here.'

However, the next day, Jasmine met the boy at school. It turned out the boy was her schoolmate, and they were in the same year, but in different classes. Jasmine was thrilled to know her saviour was his schoolmate.

She learned that the boy's name was Joshua Jones and after the incident at the alley; they became friends and later their friendship blossomed into a relationship.

"Babe, Happy Anniversary," Joshua hugged Jasmine. He then looked into Jasmine's emerald orbs deeply and said, "When our relationship reaches a decade, let's get married," he uttered.

Jasmine blushed at hearing Joshua's early proposal.

The wind blew, making her hair and dress fluttered with the winds. Flower petals falling around them.

However, the peaceful breeze suddenly turned into a tornado and everything around her was flying around.

Jasmine's hand was trying to hold on to Joshua's hand, however it was futile. She was sucked into the eye of the tornado and landed in a void.

Standing up, Jasmine scanned around and, at a distance, she saw two men, one big and one skinny.

"Joshua!" Jasmine called out to the skinny one. Both of the men turned to Jasmine.

Joshua was looking at her with a serious face, contrary to the look that he gave her before, while the other men who she had recognised as Lawyer Gu were looking at her with an evil grin.

They both shook their hands and Joshua handed the paper that he was holding to Lawyer Gu.

"Joshua!" Jasmine called for him again, however, Joshua turned his back on her and walked away from there.

Lawyer Gu was coming at her. Jasmine wanted to run away, however, her foot was stuck in its place.

Jasmine shouted for help, but no sounds came out of her mouth.

The lawyer managed to hold on to her and was touching her inappropriately. He grabbed Jasmine's chin and wanted to land a kiss on her mouth.

Before the disgusting mouth of the lawyer could land on Jasmine's, a hand pulled him from Jasmine, and the lawyer flew to oblivion.

Jasmine looked at the blue-grey eyed man who had come to rescue her.

"Thank you," Jasmine uttered.

Jasmine watched as Felix came towards her in steady steps.

When he arrived in front of Jasmine, he pulled out something from his pants pocket.

Jasmine felt a metal cuff bound her hands, "Ms Jasmine Paxton, you are under arrest…."
