Chereads / Live Before You Die / Chapter 4 - Burn the House

Chapter 4 - Burn the House

Juki and Jeki, both with dreadlocks and brown skin, gather their supplies in the garage. They took jerry cans filled with gasoline. Then, they put those right beside the house that was their target. They just put, didn't pour petrol on the house. They left before nightfall and met up with the others.

Arriving at the headquarters, Tony asked about it.

"Did you put those in there yet?"

"Yes, I did."

"Good."

Tony moved his eyes to the side.

"How are things in the house, Jessica?"

The woman Tony asked about was Jessica. She is Tony's subordinate. She is more loyal than Tony's other subordinates because she was the one Tony saved when her father and mother were killed.

"I've checked the situation in the housing. The guards would be on guard every 6 pm to 5 am unless they went out to do something; go to the toilet, open the fence, and give the pass to the guests."

There is a guard at the housing. They were at the entrance to the housing and always watched anyone who entered, be it guests or people who lived there. Security there is very tight—they have five security.

"That house... how many people live in the house?"

"One family and two maids. Six people are living in the house. And among those six people…"

"What's wrong, Jessica?"

Jessica stopped her information. She seemed hesitant to tell. There is something she is hiding. But Tony kept trying to ask that.

"One baby is living there. The family recently had a baby. The mother just came home after being hospitalized a few days ago."

Of course, a woman understands the feelings of other women. Even if they don't know each other, they know their feelings for each other. A woman will still be a woman, a mother to their children. So, Jessica understood what was happening with the woman, who had just had a baby.

Tony thought and tried to understand Jessica's condition. He had to understand what was happening to her.

"Um..."

"But it's okay. If this is indeed an order from Father, we must do this. According to what the ex-Father said, we don't need to care about their fate. The concern will only disturb our minds. That's right, isn't it?"

Tony is still worried about Jessica's mental state. This was the second time Tony had seen Jessica like this, hesitating about the mission she was given. And Tony could not always burden her life. He knew it was her life, so why should he force her to doesn't care? He's not the Father, so he can teach others not to be like him, who doesn't care about other people's fate.

"Yeah, you're right."

Tony couldn't even seem to care about her. He had to keep his distance so his mind would clear.

Work is work, so Tony has to realize that he can't get his feelings involved with Jessica. Tony couldn't do that, even if it were just sympathizing with her. He had to do the same as his friends, not just Jessica. They work as a group, so they should be able to build each other up.

"Jeki and Juki, what about over there?"

Jeki and Juki approached Tony. They walked very leisurely. They walked as if they had done their job properly.

"We've put some jerry cans in there."

"Good. Make sure the house burn by accident. Don't let anyone else see you."

An accident, that's what Kalvin asked for. He wanted the house to burn down accidentally. Kalvin seemed to have other plans, Tony thought. Even so, Tony did not know what Kalvin was planning.

Kalvin ordered that they be required to burn down the house like an accident. They are not allowed to burn other houses in the housing complex.

"What about the fire line?" Tony asked.

"For the time being, I've assigned Bob to clear the road in the direction of the housing. So, if he does his job properly, the fire department will be there very long. They will arrive late because of the traffic jam created by Bob," Jeki answered.

Bob and the others are assigned to create a traffic jam in how the fire department passes. They know what they have to do. They really understand how the system works outdoors. Even if the public cared so much for a passing fire department to make them clear a path, with Bob and the others there, it couldn't make it through that lane.

Bob, who has a fat body and bald head, can handle this. He is a great mafia and has a good mind. He was found and educated by Octo. So, he understands outdoor work situations—fieldwork.

"Okay. We just need to wait until night comes."

***

Night came at 11 pm. Jeki and Juki prepared their masks. They both wore horse masks and let their dreadlocks out. Then they moved to get the jerry cans they put earlier.

Jeki manages to take it while Juki looks for where the generator.

"Jeki, it seems I have to go to the basement. The generators are over there."

"Okay. I will keep watching around this place."

They communicate with each other by radio, channel 200. Juki tells Jeki he will head to the basement after breaking into the house. After that, Jeki can put jerry cans there and set fire to the house. They will set the house on fire accidentally. It catches fire due to an electrical short or an exploded generator. So, people will assume it was just an accident.

"Gotcha. I'm going in!"

Juki manages to break into the house with his burglar tool. The house doesn't have an alarm so that Juki can enter quickly.

He slowly walked over and watched his every step after entering there. It's dark in there, but Juki has good eyes. He can walk in the dark. He could even remember where things were at one glance before finally closing his eyes. He has good eyes and memory, as a mafia.

However...

"What's that?"

Juki heard the sound of spray nearby. He was almost taken aback by that.

He doesn't have a good sense of smell. He was very bad at his sense of smell, unable to even smell the air freshener in the house's living room.

Even so, at least he made it through the living room. He approached the basement, which was located under the stairs.

Meanwhile, Jeki, who was outside and watching around the house, saw someone peeking from the window of a house. He was surprised by that person's appearance and chose to hide.

The person peeking from inside the window was a neighbor of the family. The house is not far from Jeki, 10 meters. If the house targeted by Jeki and Juki catches fire, that house will also burn. It is the wind that determines everything. So, if the wind comes from the west and blows east, the house will surely catch fire too.

"Juki, there is someone."

Jeki told this problem to Juki.

"Can you get over that? I'll be in the basement soon."

"Well, I can. If you're already there, give me a call!"

Without Jeki noticing, his hair could be seen by that person. That person could tell where Jeki was. Jeki had been caught hiding there, in the wall of the house. But strangely, the person was smiling instead. He looked as if he didn't want to report this to the police or security guard of the housing.

"Jeki and Juki... they are twins their parents abandoned because of economic problems. Their parents are farmers and ranchers, but why do they have financial problems? That's suspicious. It must have been something else that they abandoned their two children. But I didn't expect them to be like this. Mafia, huh? They just looked like criminals entering Mrs. Siregar's house."

After saying that, he closed his window and turned off the light in his room. He lay on his bed and looked at his hands.

"Life in this world is very harsh and cruel. Whoever can't survive will die. Beg or help, both are the same. Whoever does that will have an impact in the future."

Kalvin closed his eyes after muttering.
