Chapter 52 - Chapter 52: The Town (3)

I did what he told me, connecting the explosives to the building. After 10 minutes, we were done. And it seemed that the kid was coming here...? "What the fuck are you doing?" I shouted, seeing him on a motorcycle, firing his gun in the air.

"Get the hell out of here!!!" He shouted back, laughing like a maniac. A horde of zombies was chasing him, and some more were coming from the town, but not many.

He then drove past the two buildings and waited for the zombies. As he waited, he smiled, seeing the zombies get closer. He took out a walkie-talkie from his pocket and said, "It's boom boom time!!" Shouting and smiling like a crazy man.

The explosives detonated, making the two buildings collapse in an X patern, crushing the zombies on the road that is following him.

The deafening roar of the collapsing buildings echoed through the town, sending plumes of dust and debris into the air. As the dust settled, revealing the destruction, I couldn't help but stare in disbelief at the scene before me. The road was now blocked by the rubble, and the once towering buildings were reduced to a heap of twisted metal and concrete.

The kid on the motorcycle revved his engine, speeding away from the chaos he orchestrated. I approached him, still baffled by the magnitude of his actions. "What the hell was that? Why did you destroy those buildings?" I demanded, struggling to comprehend the reasoning behind such a drastic measure.

He smirked, a glint of madness in his eyes. "This should be enough to deal with those zombies before they could turn into a horde" he replied, seemingly unfazed by the destruction he caused. "Now, we can move through without a problem."

"But blowing up entire buildings? That's insane! With that large commotion, thousands of zombies will surely come here sooner or later!" I exclaimed, my frustration evident.

He chuckled, "You don't have to worry about that I already have a plan for that, don't think too low of me will yah?"

I fell in silence, he's fcking crazy! As the dust settled, the gravity of the situation sank in. The road was clear, but the cost was immense. The once vibrant town now bore the scars of a merciless strategy. I glanced at the remnants of the buildings, contemplating the harsh reality of this new world where decisions like these became the norm.

The kid continued his laughter, weaving through the wreckage with a sense of triumph. Followed silently, leaving behind the ruins.

Were are now back from the main character's point of view.

I knew that the commotion I had caused would attract hordes of zombies. I quickly contacted the others using the walkie-talkie. "Hurry up! Get out of there before the zombies arrive!" I urged them. "Roger, take everything you can from this town before the zombies swarm it!" I said in a hurry. He immediately complied.

I hoped that we had enough time to escape. I had just blown up two buildings, killing hundreds of zombies, but also making a lot of noise. I was exhilarated by the explosion, but I also knew that it was risky. We had to loot this place and escape.

We hurriedly loaded the vehicles with our newfound loot, the weight of the supplies contrasting with the gravity of the situation. The town, now a graveyard of debris and twisted metal, held the echoes of our reckless strategy.

While looting, because of the commotion, the survivors from the town get our from where they were hiding and decided to join us. I of course agree and immediately told them to help us with the looting.

In just half an hour, we took almost all of the valuable resources we could find in the town in a hurry.

I drove my motorcycle as fast as I could, dodging the zombies that were still on the road. I saw some of my team members following me in the trucks, loaded with supplies. We had looted a lot of food, weapons, and vehicles from this town. It was a successful mission, but also a dangerous one.

I checked the walkie-talkie again, hoping to hear from the other group. They were supposed to clear the other building, and meet us at the rendezvous point. I wondered if they had made it out alive.

We had made it outside the town, where everyone was waiting for us, including Shana, William and Sara whom I had told to loot the police station. "Let's leave this damn place!" I shouted, driving away from the town. The others followed. After a couple of kilometers, we stopped on a bridge.

We looked at the town, as it burned in a circle. We had covered the entrance and exit with fire, trapping the zombies inside. We had made sure that we had taken every survivor in that town, as we had shouted to everyone to come out before we burned the whole town down.

As we watched the town burn, a dozen of vehicles came to us. When they got near, they got out of their vehicles. Their leader walked towards me and said, "As you ordered, after the building collapsed, we looted everything we could take from the road filled with cars. We also burned the town in a circle using the gasoline you gave us. Is this enough to prove our loyalty to you?" He said. He was the chosen leader of the people Rex had saved in the villages. He was the son of the mayor, after all. He was quite young, around 20s, with black hair and brown eyes.

"That should be enough," I said, smiling. "As long as you don't do anything stupid, then everything will turn out just fine," I said.

He smirked. "And why the hell would I want to be an enemy of someone who burned the whole town down?" I just laughed at him and we continued our journey towards our base.

We had accomplished a lot today. We had killed a lot of zombies, looted a lot of supplies, and recruited a lot of people. We had also shown our strength and ruthlessness to anyone who might oppose us. We were not afraid of anything. We were the kings of this new world.

We were now moving slowly on the second day of our journey. We had a lot of people with us now, more than 300. We had recruited them from the villages we had saved, and from the town we had burned. They were loyal to me, and followed my orders.
