Chapter 1 - Introduction

Our peaceful world changed after the "Accident" released monster into it and All sorts of unimaginable things stared appearing like dungeons, gates, towers and tombs, that threatened all of mankind and birthed many casualties.

Of course, that didn't mean that this was the end of humanity. Humans were given special powers. At present 25% of the world's population has awoken. The hunters call them Traits, the heroes call them talents and the Adventures refer to them as abilities.

In this newly developed world instead of ki or mana, power is drawn from life essence. Practitioners, or awakeners, started drawing into their bodies the surrounding, life essence that already existed in the atmosphere ultimately condensing it in their soul's core because drawing from your life essence is the same thing as using up years from your life.

Awakeners are born with an affinity for a specific type of power and in order to use that power they must draw from their life essence. The bigger a soul core the more life essence one will be able to store and the longer they'll be able to use their abilities for. It will be apparent when a child first awakens (which can take place between the ages of 3 to 7) by the initial repellence of the surrounding energy when their soul core manifests. This results in a translucent barrier forming around the awakened that lasts a couple of minutes. The color shows how large their core is and is dividend into six ranks. S-class(purple) being the rarest and highest and E- class(yellow) being the lowest.

The size of a person's soul's innate core is even more important because the limited amount of life essence one had in their body was all one could work with. Which of course can be refilled by meditation but that would be nearly impossible in the middle of a fight.

Note, it is possible to create multiple others cores.

The chances of awakening depend heavily on a person's genes, If both parents are awakened it is possible for the child to be born with one or more abilities. Affinities are the 15 classifications that the different abilities developed by awakened ones fall under. Affinities are hereditary and never change unless you have an ability that allows you to take or copy another person's affinity.

If only one parent has an affinity the child would have a 50/50 chance of awakening. That likelihood would rise to ¾ if all of the grandparents are awakened and If both parents are unawakened but at least two grandparents are awakened the may child still awaken an affinity however, It is highly unlikely.

the humans without powers have classified those with powers as "The Awakened" while they go by "Unawakened". Most awakened humans fit into one of the following categories: Villains, Heroes, Hunters, Adventures and Workers.

While heroes and villains fight for control of the outside world by killing eachother, the Hunters go after Monsters inside and outside of dungeons, gates and tombs, the Adventures climb towers and go on expeditions to search for treasure and fulfill missions they acquired from the Adventurer Guild. and the Workers have traditional jobs like police officers, doctors and firefighters abd use their powers to help people.

Along with humans, there are awakened animals, commonly referred to as beasts. Due to a sudden burst in essence coming through the gates, towers, tombs and dungeons, animals started going into a frenzy. At first, it seemed like they had completely lost their minds, but later after a few days, changes started happing. The most noticeable difference would be their insane growth in height and extreme bloodthirst. What could've been your cute little puppy an hour ago, turned into a demonic beast that would eat you whole. Most gained intelligence and can communicate, interact with and understand humans.

Monsters' and Beasts have dragon class monsters, as the Heroes have world-class heroes, bother classes transcend SSS class and are mostly thought to be mythical. Monsters have also developed far past the point of human knowledge and although we continue to study them, their development shows no pattern or structure. Every monster differs from the other unless they are directly related, so it is almost impossible to come up with a proper system to debunk their powers.
