Chapter 9 - Greek God

The next morning Clara woke up and got ready for work. The first thing she read on the list was to pick Adrian up from his house but before that, she had to make sure the man had his breakfast.

Wearing her black wedge heels she stepped out of the apartment and on her way booked a cab to Adrian's place.

In no time her cab stopped in front of a lavishing penthouse. Clara frowned as she stepped out looking at the house ahead.

'So he lives here' she mumbled and walked inside the gates.

Clara was awestruck looking at the lavishing penthouse. Just the outward appearance made it look marvelous. She doubted how beautiful it must be from the inside.

Clara never imagined Adrian to be this rich. But then, he hid his identity from her, then how was she supposed to know who he was?

The anticipation in her eyes dimmed and she cleared her thoughts telling herself that she had nothing to do with who he was and why he lied to her. It was all in the past and she had already moved on from it.

As she walked ahead, no one questioned her so she assumed maybe they were informed about her visit.

Reaching the doorstep, Clara looked at the watch in her hand and sighed," On time" she muttered and stretched her right hand on the side of the door and pressed the bell button.

After a few rings, the door opened and she was welcomed by an old man.

"Hello, I am Clara Mathew Mr. Emerson's new assistant" Clara introduced herself to Leo.

Leo who was already informed about her didn't question and took a step back allowing Clara to enter the house.

The moment she raised her eyes to look around, she was again bewitched by the aesthetic interior. It was a three-story house with multiple rooms. The place she was standing was the living area along with a top-notch kitchen space on the right side of the house.

"Make yourself comfortable Miss Mathew. Young master will soon come down" Leo informed and left from there.

Clara watched the old man head toward the kitchen area and she signed. Taking a seat on the couch she waited for Adrian to show up.

Looking around the huge house, she didn't find many servants. As of now she only saw Leo and apart from him, there were a few guards outside and also a gardener whom she saw while entering.

As she was busy scanning around, Leo returned with a glass of orange juice and placed it on the table in front of Clara.

'Huh,' she snapped out of her trance and looked at the man who passed her a polite smile.

"Fresh juice for the lady," he said picked up the glass, and passed it to her.

Clara took the glass from Leo and thanked him. She found this place very silent and she doubted if Adrian was the only one who lived there.

Leo let her enjoy the drink and excused himself to the kitchen. Looking at the geometric staircase, Clara waited for Adrian to show up.

Just when she was about to retreat her gaze, she heard a footstep and her eyes grew big when she saw Adrian ascending down.

His modest walk made her gasp and she pulled away the glass from her mouth keeping it back on the table.

His six feet tall masculine body emerged downstairs and her heart skipped a beat when she found him staring at her all this time.

Last day she failed to notice his charming face. Those thick brows pointed nose, and knife-like sharp jawline made him look like a Greek God.

'No doubt women went gaga over him' she thought recalling the conversation of those two candidates.

This man had become even more handsome in these years and now she found herself getting drawn to his beauty.

"Have you seen enough" his deep yet old voice snapped her out of her thoughts.

Clara was so immersed in describing his features that she didn't see him already standing in front of her.

Startled Clara quickly got up and greeted Adrian, "I am sorry. I didn't see you coming," she said but quickly regretted her words.

'Stupid Clara'

Adrian raised his brow. 'Wasn't she gawking at him,' he thought looking at her bent body.

Just when she thought she would apologize, Clara raised her head and saw Adrian walking away from there.

"Are you going to keep standing Miss Mathew" Adrian's voice snapped her out of her trance and she rushed tailing behind him.

"Adrian!.. oops. Sorry. Boss you haven't had your breakfast" Clara reminded him about the breakfast hoping he would halt his long stride but his answer made her stop instead.

"I am not hungry" Without looking at her, Adrian walked out of the house.

Clara who found his behavior absurd sneered. First task and she failed.

Heaving out a sigh, Clara followed him out of the house. The second she stepped out of the door, she found Adrian standing next to his car while his eyes gawked at her.

'Why isn't he stepping in' she creased and walked towards him.

"Open the door," he said.

Clara was surprised by his plain tone. Her lips twitched as she tried to fight her displeasure.

'Aren't his hands working' she said to herself and closed her eyes to suppress her anger before taking a step and opening the door.

Adrian who watched her hide her fury smiled but quickly composed and stepped into the car.

Clara shut the door and walked to the other side of the car and opened the door of the passenger seat next to the driver and stepped in.

Adrian gawked at Clara fiercely when she didn't sit next to him and rather chose the front seat.

Clara smiled at the driver politely which irked Adrian even more than before and ordered," Anthony are you here to smile and greet everyone" his cold words made Clara drop her smile.

"Sorry boss"

Clearing his throat, Anthony started the engine and they soon exited from Adrian's place.

Clara kept her eyes ahead but she could feel an intense stare in her direction. She didn't know why but something about Adrian's behavior intimidated her.

He wasn't this cold and indifferent before or just like he hid his identity he even faked his behavior.

Her hand around the file tightened and she averted her gaze to the side and looked out of the window.

Since it was her first day, she wanted to observe her surroundings before she began working. Being someone's assistant wasn't something she had experienced before and now that she had taken the job, Clara didn't want to disappoint anyone, especially the man sitting behind her.
