Pointing his cane at Austin, Felix passed him a warning glare and then walked towards his grandson, who had been ignoring his calls.
"You ungrateful brat... why aren't you answering my calls" Felix roared slamming his cane angrily but was ignored when Adrian looked at him and focused on his work.
Displeased, Felix huffed and pulled a chair for himself, and sat in front of his grandson. He learned about the issue the company faced after the Quin's stepped back from signing the project.
"I was busy" Adrian answered nonchalantly without looking at him.
Felix fumed in anger watching his grandson ignore his words and act as if he was invisible.
Sigh! He shouldn't have come here in the first place knowing how Adrian didn't like anyone to meddle in his problems. But what should he do when he got concerned for him?
Being a child without a mother, Felix was always worried for him. He wasn't like those kids who like to express their emotions. As a child, he always kept himself away from others and barely opened up.
The trauma he went through after his parents got separated made him conceal himself from the outer world.
For some months, he didn't step out of the house, because his friends would make fun of him, calling him names that would trigger him.
He even went on venting his anger on those who pulled his string testing his patience and getting into a fight with them. There was not a single day when he wouldn't return home without a bruise on his face.
That boy was so broken that he couldn't even feel any pain whenever the doctors would treat him. It was as if he had accepted his fate and become numb from every pain he went through.
They tried to make him understand, asking him to forget about the past but he was too worked up to understand their words.
Edric, his father tried everything in his mean to give him a normal life but he could not fulfill his mother's place nor he could let anyone into his life.
The men in the Emerson family were devoted to their partners but unfortunately, Adrian's mother Maria wasn't that loyal and she ended up cheating on him for someone, he didn't know.
Because of her infidelity, she broke two hearts leaving both father and son devastated. If they hadn't witnessed everything, they wouldn't have asked Nathan to divorce her.
Recalling the past, Felix felt his suppressed emotions surging up and he felt hurt.
Heaving out a sigh, Felix looked at his grandson and his anger dissipated. There was no way he could be upset with him.
"I know you won't like me bothering you but still... if you need any help your grandpa is here," he said and watched Adrian lift his eyes, staring at him indifferently.
"Hmm..." Adrian didn't say much and nodded his head.
Once the tension between them disappeared, Felix then averted his gaze from Adrian to Austin. His lips twitched looking at the man who stood there with his head down.
"Austin... " his voice broke his composure and he snapped his head looking at the old man.
"Yes, Grandpa" he quickly reacted knowing any further delay would only lead him into trouble. Both Grandson and Grandfather pair were overbearing, but still, he liked them anyway.
"I heard Adrian appointed a new assistant for himself. Where is she, I want to meet her" Felix's words alarmed Adrian and he butted in," No!"
"There is no need for you to meet her. I don't want you to go around instructing her on my behalf" Adrian rejected and turned his gaze to Austin motioning him to leave.
Once Austin was out of the cabin, Adrian turned to his grandpa.
"What! I just wanted to know who this new assistant is and wanted to guide her, so she could take care of you properly" Felix stated putting on an innocent face but he was too bad at it.
The moment he found out the new assistant was a woman, Felix couldn't stay still. He wanted to know who this lady was who managed to win his grandson's heart and he ended up appointing her.
Everyone was aware of Adrian's hate toward women and got the shock of their lives when he took a woman as his assistant. And now he couldn't wait to see the girl.
"I know why you want to meet her. Just cut that innocent act, Grandpa"
Adrian knew his grandpa wanted to keep a tap on his day-to-day life and he just wanted to befriend Clara so she would become the medium, who would keep him updated.
Felix pursed his lips when his fake acting was caught. He never thought his smart grandson would see through his intentions.
"AHEM... But still, you should at least introduce her to me. I want to know if the lady is capable enough to stand your aloofness"
Felix knew his grandson wasn't a man of sweet words but would rather scare people with his deadpan eyes. And he doubted if his new assistant would be able to bear his cold behavior and end up leaving the job.
Adrian shot a sharp glare at Felix, who quickly looked elsewhere.
No one was able to stand his unbeatable deadly cold eyes that would make anyone freeze in fear. Felix wasn't an exception.
When he wasn't able to take it anymore Felix finally gave up, "Okay fine... I won't meet her but at least tell me one thing," he asked leaning forward and smiling cheekily.
"What?"
"Is the girl pretty enough for you to fall in love with" Adrian's lips twitched when his grandfather shamelessly tried matching him.
"No!" Adrian gritted his teeth trying his best not to lash on his grandfather.
"Hehe... okay, I get it... you don't have to get upset" saying Felix slowly got up from his seat and before Adrian could lose his cool he vacated the room.
Adrian unclutched his fist and averted his eyes from the door before he resumed his work.
He walked towards the elevator as he passed through Austin's cabin. His steps halted as he stood in front of the door and tried to sneak a peak inside the room but stopped when Adrian's words rang in his ear.
Thinking for some time, he averted his gaze from the door and walked towards the elevator.
