Raven sits on the swing with Melissa, she's being a shrew about all this witch and magic stuff. Melissa does not realize how important this is to do things the right way. All she talks about is casting spells, getting what she wants, and doing things to people that have hurt her in the past. She is becoming bad-tempered and causing harm to others. She's going to make something so bad for her that it will come back on her tenfold. Then she will be unable to reverse her curse and bad things will begin to happen to her.
Raven and Melissa argue about this whole witchery. She doesn't want to see anything bad happen to her friend and she feels that something is going to happen to her because of the shrew she is being about this whole idea of being witches. In fact, Melissa doesn't even know much about casting spells on others and the repercussions that will follow if she does not do things the correct way.
Melissa, being the shrew, thinks this is all fun and games, until that one time something goes wrong, and then she will want help to correct it and no one will be able to help her except Madam Adele. But she does not want to hear Raven talk about her, she wants to do things her own way.
Melissa does not even care about taking precautions before she performs her spell or curse. In her case, it's a curse because she is not using her powers wisely. She does not understand that a witch must first cleanse herself, her space, and the tools that will be used. If she does not do this, when she's in deep thought about what her intentions are, every thought will become a negative thought, and that's where the curse comes into play. And also, she doesn't know that her circle of witches also comes into play and they can cause a spell to go wrong or change the course. Everything that she wants to happen might turn out the exact opposite. Maybe because the spell is too strong.
She must listen to Raven when she informs her that once a spell goes wrong it's impossible to reverse. At that point, the damage is already done!
Raven still tries to get this through Melissa's head, but she will not listen to her. Raven even explains about the binding spells and how powerful it is to persuade people to do what they want. She just sits on the swing with a grin on her face. Raven is so argumentative with her that she gets up and leaves. She felt there is no use in telling her more about spells and everything that comes along with it since she will not listen to her.
Raven walks to her house, the whole way home all she did was shake her head back and forth because she's disgusted with Melissa. She's worried that she's going to do more harm than good. Her insights on this are so wrong. Melissa is becoming a person that Raven does not know anymore and she's afraid for her.
When Raven arrives home, she races up to her bedroom and grabs the book of shadows. She opens it and starts reading it thoroughly. She wants to find out more about casting spells and how to reverse them if need be.
Melissa was shocked that Raven left like that, but she didn't care. She still sits on her porch swing and prepares for the casting of a spell. She's not sure what she wants to do yet, but she knows she wants to cause havoc. As she ponders about what she wants to do, a medium-sized, black crow lands on her shoulder. The crow does not startle her, she actually lets the crow sit on her shoulder. The crow mysteriously just appeared and landed on her.
Melissa becomes fond of this crow, even when she swings back and forth, the crow does not fly away.
"What is it about this crow?" She questioned herself.
About an hour has passed and the crow is still with her. She must not know that the crow is an omen. They are intertwined with death transitions and a realm beyond physical beings. She has thoughts of this crow becoming her magical creature and will hold value in her spellcraft. She now has plans with the crow, maybe to connect with the dead. She misses her younger sister badly since her death and wants to use the crow to speak to her.
Melissa becomes stoked because she knows that the crow symbolizes the relationship of loved ones who passed over, but what she does not know is that the crow can also cause omens. If things work out in Melissa's favor, the crow will send her messages from her dead sister. Since it's a mystery how her sister died, she figures that the crow will give her some type of clue about what really happened to her.
When her sister died, she was too young to know anything about it, and her parents never told her what happened to her because they could never talk about it. They were never the same after she passed. Melissa and her parents had changed as time went on after her sister passed, they never talked about it, and they never even went to her grave sight. Melissa doesn't even know
where she is buried, so now that she has her crow, she's hoping that she could find answers to her sister's death.
