Chapter 3 - The Meiga

What irritates Volker with humans is how short-sighted they are in life. They have no satisfaction. A bag of gold money can't seem to make them satisfied. Just keep looking and enriching themselves. Innocent animals are being killed wildly. They sell anything that looks valuable regardless of hurting one another. They are also manipulative.

Now that out of nowhere clan was wreaking havoc, those humans thought Rodenis was the one who did this. Volker was beyond pissed at the fat man's words. He wanted to tear his mouth down to his feet so he would know what torture felt like.

"You guys found anything?" Volker arrived in the forest and immediately asked the soldiers who were on patrol. It was still day, but Volker asked them to stay there.

"No traces whatsoever, Lord Volker. We've been around." Volker nodded before he left the two soldiers.

He went to the place where the corpses were laughing. On the grass, the traces of a fight were clearly visible. There are traces of shoes dragged for several meters. The bushes seemed to have collapsed in several places. The traces of blood that had almost dried up made the forest grass red. The rancid smell still lingers even though the blood seems to have dried up.

Volker let out a long sigh imagining how those humans would face Gendewa, who should be no match for humans. Remembering their torn skin and the claws that filled their bodies, Gendewa deliberately made the humans die slowly. Volker couldn't imagine how much pain they must have had before his life was forcibly taken.

Volker walked to the left side after being satisfied observing where the bodies lay. He is now where Gendewa was destroyed and turned to ashes after he managed to kill him. There wasn't any sign there either. Gendewa is a creature that will always turn to ashes when he dies.

Until evening, Volker and his soldiers found nothing in the forest. Volker had even hoped for Gendewa to come and attack them. Still, that hope was dashed when the Terena Forest felt peaceful and calm tonight. Volker didn't notice a tall figure watching him from up in a tree. That figure, of course, uses magic protection so that Volker doesn't feel his presence.

A male figure smirked at Volker and his stupid soldiers. Of course, they wouldn't find anything because magic wouldn't leave any traces of it.

"You're doing something pointless, you idiot," he muttered scornfully at Volker. The man casually stared at Volker from the top of the tree as if he was enjoying a boring spectacle. His hands were crossed in front of his chest while his body was piled on a tree trunk. "But, you certainly entertain me," he said with a grin.

The man didn't even move from his position until Volker's voice roared through the forest.

"We're back. It's already morning. We'll continue tomorrow night." Today failed. The disappointment was felt by Volker and all the soldiers, but it became a victory for Meiga. Volker led the way, followed by the soldiers behind him. Step by step, Volker walked, disappointment hanging inside him.

Volker's party came to the side of the road, and the sound of horses was heard from the left. Volker turned his head, and he could recognize someone in the same uniform as him.

"Waller," he whispered to himself. The man called Waller pulled the reins of his horse to stop when he saw Volker and the soldiers.

"Lord Volker." Waller dismounted and nodded politely in front of Volker.

"You got something?" asked Volker.

"I found nothing, Lord Volker," he said. "Everything seems fine. What about Lord Volker? Did you find anything?"

"Not. We also found nothing after searching for a day and a night." The disappointment was evident in Volker's eyes.

"Then we need to be vigilant, Lord Volker. The Meiga is back." Waller replied.

"You are right. We have a tough task to solve." Volker agreed. "Then come on, let's head back first."

"Yes, Lord Volker."

Volker got on his horse and immediately galloped away. Followed by other soldiers. Waller was behind, but he wanted to stay focused on everyone. He rode his horse leisurely without rushing.

As night returns, Meiga returns with her plan. He infiltrated the Zentara forest instead of the Terena Forest. Sitting on the grass, closing his eyes, and releasing his strength from within his body. The weeds in front of him suddenly merged to form a grass mummy. He could move nimbly with magic power in it. There were tendrils of grass hanging from his body.

The man is satisfied with his work. Then he gave an order, "Anyone you come across, especially humans, then slaughter him. Give it a cruel torture then take its life."

Gendewa then dragged his feet to start acting. Waller looked at Gendewa with a sharp grin.

"I'm going to confuse you." Those words from the Meiga were aimed at Volker and his soldiers, who were now in the Terena Forest. "It's enjoyable to work," he said. His eyes closed, enjoying the silence of the night. The rattling of small animals is like a melodious song. The wind made him feel like he was in heaven.

Shortly after, shrill screams could be heard filling the forest. That means the target has been obtained. The man immediately moved to take a look. Sure enough, Gendewa was attacking three people with the grass choking their necks.

"Let me go! Let me go!" The pleading voice sounded painful, but Gendewa paid no heed. The tendrils of grass merging with each other were increasingly wildly moving to and fro without stopping.

The three people who had fallen into his trap were lifted up high and then knocked down with great force to the ground. Their bodies writhed violently from the pain. Knowing that those people had not yet met their end, Gendewa again picked them up with the vines of the grass on his body and entangled them until they couldn't breathe.

"Please, let me go!" The person's voice was heavy. No matter how hard they squirmed, they tried to get free from Gendewa's entanglement, but to no avail.

"You…." Before the person could finish his words, the grass coils on his body grew tighter and firmer. They couldn't breathe, and soon their bodies went limp. Will quickly appear bruises on their bodies. The Meiga smiled when she saw that. But when he heard the mob approaching, he immediately hid.
