Chapter 5 - Construction

8 years later

26:00

Naval Base

Coronado, California

"If you do not like the water, in your nose and your behind, you better learn to love it! We are going to be doing a lot of finning within these three weeks! Now get to chopping those feet! Welcome to hell week!" - The instructor was very boisterous when giving his orders.

Lugar was chopping his feet in the sand along with a class of seventy seven to be navy seals. All of them were in compliance with the orders and the whistle of the instructors.

"Now run!" - Shouted the instructor.

A navy seals build was something he was able to embody quite easily. Even at eighteen years old the admirals recognized his character and mannerisms; placing him in the top percentile of that class.

"How did we get such a specimen? What type of name is Lugar?" A lieutenant Jr. asked as he was checking him into the system.

" It is German sir." - Said Lugar with his hands behind his back.

"You are a German?" - Asked the lieutenant jr.

"I am from Sweden sir." - Lugar was attentive in his answering.

" How did a Swedish boy slip the cracks and land in the navy?" - Asked the lieutenant jr.

" It just happened, sir." - Lugar's facial expression evinced how serious he was.

" Well, you have outdone yourself. Are you ready to complete your Bud/s prep training?" - Asked the lieutenant jr.

"Yes sir!" - Shouted Lugar.

" I want you back here tomorrow at 14:00 to meet with the rest of the class." - Said the lieutenant jr.

Lugar was heading back to the dorms when a pal he made from hell week ran by.

" Ay yo, so we got Virginia next, that's crazy, we are living." - He said.

" Yeah." - Lugar said.

" Should write a letter to my girl, let her know, daddy is not coming home, not yet; he got things to do. I should write one to my mother too. I will let you know what she says." - His friend was teasing.

"Love, Tyrone Jenkins."- Lugar joked while smiling.

" Don't you call me by my government name , I am Ty to you." Tyrone laughed, shoving Lugar. "Are you trying to come grab some food with me? They have pies today." - He offered.

" Nah, I am going to go meditate. I will catch you later my man" - Said Lugar.

" Man, you are always on your Mr. Miogi, loosen up!" - Shouted Tyrone as he watched Lugar jog away.

Him and Tyrone both graduated and advanced from the eight week training program; taking the next step in becoming navy men. Tyrone and Lugar grew close during their time spent together. Tyrone knew Lugar did not have much of a family or to his knowledge a family at all to rely on , so he had compassion for him. Every time he would receive a letter he would read it out loud with Lugar, telling him different stories about growing up in New Jersey. They bonded and formed a brotherhood in the absence of family. Challenging, competing, involving, and guiding each other. One A and One B. Both of them were placed on the same seal team and after the training was complete, the team was given its first assignment.

" We have a group of missionaries who are unaware that a militia leader has had a pernicious influence on the government. That being said a large group of his men has been scavenging the surrounding camps. Your job is to excavate two Americans and a holy leader. Now this is your first parachute dive as a group outside of training; I expect you all to follow protocol and when you hit the ground, maintain that order and procedure. Let's get these people home safe. They are relying on you." - Explained the Admiral as he examined the team.

The team of five landed in the marsh and immediately went under water, aligning with the given coordinates. Unexpectedly, a small cluster of militia were spotted walking towards the camp, ironically at the same time the holy leader was giving a sermon.

" You see, God does not want to make things hard on you. We may feel his test but it is not meant to be hard. So be grateful. Grateful when you are on the high and grateful for when you are on the low. Things might not change overnight. In fact it may take years for you to move on from a struggle, but believe me after hardship comes ease." - Expressed the leader.

" Do you believe in all this stuff Lugar?" - Tyrone said over the headset.

" Not anymore Ty." - Said Lugar.

"Alright Lugar, paint 'em" - Whispered the commander of the team.

" Blue shirt is Ty's, the guy with the bad leg is Mike's, Bush will take the front man, I got the trailer, leaving you with the sniper, sir. He is at your ten o'clock." - Lugar relayed the information in correspondence with the orders and routine.

It was a simultaneous death for the opposition. The team made its way on land with Mike and Bush setting up a perimeter. Leaving the commander, Tyrone and Lugar with the responsibility of removing the two Americans and holy leader.

" Sorry to break up the party but there is a large militia moving in on this location. It is about time to go." - The commander was speaking in a hurry and motioning his arms to the door.

It was an outcry amongst the full house of people. Some begin to grab their children and run to warn the ones back at their villages, others stayed; loyal to their spiritual guide. One man even pulled out a weapon of his own.

" Sir! What are you doing?! Put the gun down!" - Tyrone commanded as he watched the man slowly place the gun down.

He continued to direct the traffic and chaos trying his best to provide safety ," Mam, mam, I'm going to need you to grab your bag, stand up and leave."

"It is getting ugly in here sir." - Warned Lugar over the headset.

" Heard, give me five minutes, the leader does not want to go." The commander said, sucking his teeth.

The two had stepped into the office and were discussing the situation.

" I can not just leave all these people that have come to find peace and faith." - Stressed the leader.

" Sir, you have all day when you get back to write them an apology letter. You did what you came to do, now it is time to go." - Said the commander.

" All praise be to God. I am not leaving." - The leader was sure of his mission.

" Gotta go Sir." - Said Bush over the headset.

"Look I am sorry, but it is happening, what are you going to die and miss the opportunity to preach your word to more people. We need to move! I told you there is a large group of men coming here who do not care about no religion or peace and I have orders to get you and your two American buddies out of dodge." - The commander did a good job convincing the spiritual leader because he reacted by gathering his things and saying his goodbyes.

" How many can we take?" - He asked.

" We only came for three, my friend, now I suggest you come with me." - Said the commander.

The holy leader was visibly distraught but nonetheless he informed the two Americans who partook in the mission with him and they all joined the seal team. Mike and Bush maintained a safe perimeter until everyone cleared out, while Lugar and Tyrone led the group with a map and electronic diagram of the area. The commander maintained the composure of the three individuals they came to rescue as they move forward with completing the mission.
