Chereads / The Drifter's Second Life / Chapter 7 - Disappear

Chapter 7 - Disappear

At many spots, a pure black hole appeared under the monster's feet without any warning, like a deep chasm of the abyss opening its mouth to swallow every living being alive. In a flash, dozens of monsters disappeared right in front of everyone's eyes.

Many did not even see how those species were devoured. They only saw a dark hole open with no bottom in sight. The size of the hole varied according to the size of the monster.

There were piercing screams, and then they disappeared.

The young fish who was causing trouble and the man with a frog long tongue were not spared.

A huge hole appeared on the granite floor under their feet. They could not get out in time to save themselves. They were too busy to blame each other.

As their lives were hanging by a thread, the young fish managed to grab the edge of the hole, his fish face turning as white as a sheet. The long-tongued man was able to use his tongue to latch on to the pillar.

Surprisingly, his slimy, bumpy tongue was able to stretch ten to twenty meters long. He struggled to climb and immediately ran towards the ground.

Meanwhile, the young fish struggled to climb up while frantically asking for help: "Save me, please save me! Save me!"

He latched on to the man with a long frog tongue.

"Let go of my feet!"

"Save me!!!"

"I said let go, you fish bastard!!" The man with a frog tongue kicked the fish's face down.

Some of the monsters nearby watched the struggles with gaping mouths. Their slow witted brains could not process what was going on.

They only need to find the human, right? They only need to tear a part of his flesh to win this game.

But where is the human now? Why isn't he here? Where are these holes coming from?

More monsters nearby were curious. It was not in their vocabulary to help, but they boldly stepped forward to look at the bottom of the hole.

When one of the monsters, the one with a pig snout, noticed a huge dark red eye blinking in the darkness, he screamed.

He scrambled backward, surprising everyone.

Then the young fish who clutched the man with the long tongue's feet screeched.

"Who is pulling me?! Saavee mee!! I still want to live!!" His expression was completely petrified, screaming desperately for help. His two scaly arms clutched the man's legs tightly. Not willing to let go.

The next second, everyone in the area froze.

A dark shadow seemed to cover the whole fish's body. Then, without any warning, he was dragged down by what seemed to be a gigantic claw. His horrified scream traveled further away with the speed of light, leaving only an echo behind.

The man with a long tongue expected he would be saved; he clutched at the edge, his face completely devoid of color.

"Haah, haah." He was having trouble breathing. His long claws were able to clutch on to the granite. Everyone actually thought he was saved.

Then he suddenly screeched in pain. The claws that were so long and holding on to the edge were bleeding. Some are even flattened and squashed completely. It's like somebody stomped on them so hard that all his claws broke.

Because of the pain, the tongue that was holding onto the pillar loosened slightly. And the shadow lurking down below took advantage of that.

The claw appeared again and dragged the man down to the chasm. The weak hearted man with a pig snout began to shriek in fear; he was already trembling on the ground. His knees are trembling so violently that he cannot stand on his own two feet.

In fact, it was not only the man with the pig snout who was scared; he could not move. The other weak monsters were also in a stupefied state. Their mouths are wide open, but they could not utter a single word due to shock.

These monsters are not like Cayden. The majority of them are not used to how terrifying the unknown is. Each lived their life preying on humans, eating, hunting, playing with, and torturing them.

No one knows what 'fear' is like. The fear of death. The fear of being a prey.

Now they do.

And Cayden was having a great time doing it; sabotaging everything in the background is a sight to behold.

The god on the throne has his head propped up on his elbow. There were no brows on his face, but the glowing orb that replaced his eyes was squinting in the arena. He stared intensely, scanning each of the monster's faces, trying to find the human who had just disappeared.

At first, the god is seeking that annoyingly smug face—the small body of a white faced walking bread covered in a black cloak. But he could not find a trace.

As he raked his eyes back and forth, that's when he noticed the discrepancy. The average number of caveholes that have opened is fifty. Like the young fish and the man with a long tongue, the size is large enough to swallow two or three species; however, the average number of species swallowed by each cavehole is nine.

On the right, a hole, that was as huge as five times the pillar opened out of nowhere. The orc that was about to run in opposite direction suddenly stumbled in the ground, as if something invisible was blocking his way.

This was the orc who badmouthed Cayden earlier.

His huge nose broke as it hit the granite floor. The orc was disoriented as he tried to stand up. But before he could straighten up, a massive claw reached out and dragged his huge leg.

"GAAH!!!" The shout was muffled as he dropped into the chasm.

Everyone started to panic. The nearby monsters who were near that hole were going crazy. Running in the opposite direction, clearly in a circle, the worm that was lurking in the ground was happy as it watched many ant like colorful insects on the surface.
