Chapter 9 - Acrobatics (2)

"Run!"

"Aaaahhh!!!!"

"Get off!"

Everyone was in a riot.

Monsters are struggling to be kept afloat on the moving square granite floor. Those that are overcrowded are grappling with each other. Trying to shove the other party down to the liquefied lava.

Cayden did not take chances and proceeded to leap into the tight rope. This is acrobatics.

All of them are required to stand in the rope, tiptoe on it, and try their best to avoid being hit and survived the game until the next round.

Under his weight, the rope swayed a little. This movement caught the god's attention, and he stared directly at where Cayden is standing.

-- Ah, the fucker noticed me.

The huge metal ball that caused the ground to quake started to roll by itself. The monsters watched with horror as the chains attached to the metal ball were raised, tightening themselves and slowly lifting the huge metal ball off the ground.

These chains began to swing around the pillars in different directions; some were horizontal and swung so fast it was impossible to avoid them. Some swing so slow you'll be able to anticipate when it's coming.

One monster underestimated the slow swinging metal ball. He was in the middle of beating another unlucky fish to the ground. His companions warned him about the incoming ball. But he ignored it; his huge scaly fist landed on the fish's face and tossed him into the lava. The huge metal ball was now only a few meters away. The large man with scaly skin was able to duck in time, but nobody expected that another metal ball was coming up behind it.

The fast incoming metal ball hit the scaly man completely. Bones breaking was heard by the nearest monsters. Before anyone could scream, the scaly man's body was thrown out of the arena and swallowed by the thick mist beyond. He disappeared without a trace.

The monsters finally learned their lesson. Just as they could not predict the fast swinging metal ball, they should not underestimate the slow moving balls either.

Some monsters with human reasoning are still contemplating what to do when they discover another problem.

Many square granite tile floors stopped moving. Some are even close to drowning in the liquefied lava. The sight of the unavoidable, swinging metal ball was enough to intimidate them. One of the monsters crouched down to avoid getting hit. But the square granite floor he was standing on submerged into the lava.

His scaly feet got burned. He cried out in pain and stepped backward.

But his retreat only pushed him towards the edge. He did not have time to avoid the other attack swinging in a vertical direction.

BOOM!

The monster is beyond saving.

Another monster with thick, hairy spider skin was so scared he slumped to the ground with both hands clutching his head. The metal ball swung past him.

His body was shivering so badly, but he luckily escaped.

The monsters all looked around to see the huge metal balls swinging everywhere, creating a hurling wind so loud it could blow everyone's eardrums. There was absolutely nowhere to hide.

More than a hundred monsters were killed because of the submerging of the single square granite floors.

Screams filled the entire space as blood splattered.

For the others that managed to survive, they try to hang on to their lives through the acrobatic ropes.

Nobody noticed it.

But there was some discrepancy between the spaces occupied by the huge metal ball and the rope.

Whenever the huge metal ball swings, the rope will not get hit. The ball just slid right through it like the rope is invisible.

Cayden observed this phenomenon but did not dare try to test his theory. He continued to observe and hopped between spaces to avoid the fast swinging balls.

Many lives were lost. Others who managed to survive still cling to the hope of getting out of the arena alive. But they were not lucky. Their current location does not allow them to move. The square granite floor is completely covered in lava.

The rope is so far, it was risky to jump over and manage to cling to the rope without being splashed in the lava. But others still dare try.

"Splash!" "Boom!" "Crash!"

Screams filled the entire space as blood splattered.

The swinging of the huge metal ball and the submerging of the floor caused many lives to be lost.

A young child with cat's ears was clinging to the rope as if his life depended on it. He couldn't remember how many times he got up from the ground and ran desperately.

The panic doubled when the lava appeared.

He was shoved away from the square granite floor he was standing on.

The continuous swings made him unable to stop and think. He could only run, and run desperately. His nerves were so tight that he thought if he relaxed just for a split second, he would be smashed by the huge metal ball or drowned in the lava.

Luckily, there was a rope nearby that he managed to cling onto. He was able to lift himself up, but his elbow slipped and he lost his grip on the rope.

"Aaahh!!! Mama, save me! His desperate cries went unheard. There was no one in the rope other than him.

His huge tears dripped down to his small, puffy cheeks. The lava below loomed closer as he fell.

The huge metal ball swept over the top of his head with a fierce wind. He almost choked on his own breath, streams of cold sweat dripping down his back.

He was saved.

Wait.... why isn't he falling?

The child found it strange when he was floating in midair. A part of his neck tightened. And this even almost strangled him as he felt himself being lifted up.

A faint smell entered the child's nose. He hurriedly looked over his shoulder to see a human holding onto his collar tightly.

This is the human who will pave the path to game clearance if he manages to get a piece of his flesh.
