I followed him to the doorstep. He took out the keys to open the door. His house is a 2 story house. And it has a very large porch.
The inside of his house smells like book, you know like new book. I guess I should have expected this from him. Cause it is just so like him. As I stepped in he gave me a pair of slippers, an over sized pair of slippers. "Sorry I don't have smaller size. It's mine but you can wear it", he said with a lopsided grin . "Don't you have any other pair? I mean what are you going to wear?" I said to him as I noticed that he gave me the only pair of slipper that he had. "I'll manage. Actually I have never had any guests over and that's why", he shrugged. "Ohh", I felt overwhelmed learning that I'm the first one to come to his house.
"Maybe you should wear these slippers cause", I was trying to offer him but he cut me off and said, "Trust me I'll be perfectly fine. You wear them. I'll just.." he took out 2 plastic shoe cover and wrapped them around his shoes. "I'm not gonna be here for long anyway. So I guess these will be perfect, don't you think so?" he said tapping his shoes on the floor to show me how perfectly those did the trick. I didn't have any other options but budge.
"I'm sorry that this house is so small. Actually this is a very quiet neighborhood and it's really close to Harvard University. And that's why when this place was listed I bought it", he said as he saw me looking around the house. "Why are you being sorry? This place is so beautiful after all. So you bought it 2 years ago?" I asked him. "Nope, I bought it 8 years ago", he said as he kept the breakfast on the kitchen island. His house, even though little (according to him) would easily fit three families. He also has a garage as I had seen on my way inside the house. This house also has a basement if I'm not wrong.
Inside the house there is a lot of rooms as I have seen. I'll need time to know which one is what. "Eight years?" I exclaimed in wonder. "How old were you back then?" I asked curiously. "Ok so, soymilk, butterbun, eggs and banana.... that would be all for your breakfast, right?" he asked, avoiding the topic? "Yeap!! So how old are you actually?" I asked, refusing to change the topic.
"Can't you see I'm trying to change the topic?" he said narrowing his eyes, making his voice sound cold. But it didn't scare me. Cause I've started to understand him, about his behavior towards me. He is wholly different in club, just like the captain he has been ever since I joined the team. But outside the club he is completely different. He is sweet and warm and sometimes he flirts as well.
He is a completely different person outside the club, maybe it's because outside the club he isn't my captain anymore rather he is my fiance, my husband to be. "And can't you see I'm refusing to change the topic?" I pouted. He let out a sigh of surrender, "I'm 23 and I believe you know it". "And how long have you been 23?" I sat on one of the chairs infront of the kitchen island. "8 months and 10 days", he said rolling his eyes as he took out a few plates out of the cupboard to serve the breakfast that we got from Starbucks.
"If we were to go back 8 years then you would be 15. How did you manage to buy this place as an orphan at the age of 15?" I bit my tongue as soon as the words got out. Cause it was only then that I realized what I had said. "Listen Lam, there are many things that I want to tell you. But I can't. Not now at least. I promise I won't hide anything from you, I'll tell you everything on our first night. Can you let it slide for now? Please?" he said with a pleading look. But I couldn't really care about his pleads or his words anymore ever since he said first night. I felt so shy that my blushes are coming out. And right now I feel so hot.
"Ok. I won't ask. But I hope you don't have a family that you are keeping as secret", I tried to be funny. But his expression got hard. "No way?! Do you actually have a secret family?" the thought of that it might be true made my eyes bigger and my mouth fell open. He chuckled seeing my expression and lifted up my chin to close my mouth. "I don't want to be a mistress or a step-mom", I said with a frown. "You know you could be a writer with that wild imagination of yours", he said as he laid down our breakfast over the plates.
"Raidan stop trying to change the topic. Tell me... Please", I said making puppy eyes with both my hands intertwined. "I can't tell you all about it but there is no mistress thing. I can assure you that you are the first woman I have in my life beside my family. And it'll always be you", he said looking straight at my eyes and damn!! he sounded so honest. But these little bit of honesty of him is making me so hot even in this cold weather. "Oh. Then is it about your parents? Are you not an orphan?" I asked trying to cool down the heat.
"Can we change the topic now please?" he said putting a cherry inside my mouth so that I can't speak. "I'll take your silence as yes", he said bitting back a smile, as I chew the cherry. "Wow!!! Sweet", I commented on the taste of the cherry. "Have more then. By the way I think you should freshen up and change", he said as he also sat on one of the chairs of the kitchen island beside me. "Do I stink?" I asked him as I smelled my dress. He laughed. "No, you don't. And I said that cause I don't think that you will feel comfortable in that dress inside home". "Oh, but I haven't bought anything yet", "You can wear my T-shirt and pants. Actually you can just wear my pajamas, since you are going to sleep", he took a bite of his sandwich.
"Sleep? Am I?
