Chapter 19 - She humiliated him.

"Wait… Freda, what did you just say?" Her manager inquired, stuttering.

Everyone's attention was now focused on her as they waited for Freda to respond rationally.

Jayden, on the other hand, bit his lower lip and prayed silently that Freda would not respond to the company's manager.

"Freda. Everyone is waiting for an explanation." Her manager declared yet again.

He was merely waiting for Freda's explanation.

Mr. Edgar was aware that autistic patients do not lie, therefore he wanted to clarify if Freda meant her previous statement about sleeping with Jayden last night.

"I know you heard me correct Mr. Edgar, but since you appeared anxious for me to repeat what I said earlier, I'm afraid but I won't do so."

She paused for a moment after her brief comment to take in her surroundings.

Freda exhaled as she gripped her laptop and a small piece of jolter above it tightly. "CEO Jayden said that the meeting has been adjourned, so I'll leave first."

Following her comment, she dashed out the door as fast as her small petite leg could carry her.

Jayden exhaled a sigh.

Other workers began to leave the conference hall, and Jayden and Mr. Edgar were soon the only ones left.

"I don't want to but in, but what Freda said… is it true?"

Jayden arched his brows, his gray eyes inquisitive as he stared intently at Mr. Edgar.

"What exactly are you referring to?"

Mr. Edgar licked his button lips as he sat down next to Jayden.

He winked at Jayden with a strange smirk connected to his lips. "I'm like a brother to you, Jayden, therefore anytime you're having problems, you should always seek my assistance."

Mr. Edgar's voice was firm, and he sounded quite serious.

"Would you be willing to assist me with the new project?"

Jayden knew Mr. Edgar would reject his remarks, yet he still asked, implicitly tormenting Edgar.

Mr. Edgar smirked. "I'm not referring to company work, Jayden."

Jayden shrugged, and his lips twisted into a sly grin. "Then what are you talking about, Mr. Edgar, because I don't seem to understand."

Mr. Edgar sighed.

"Do you have to make fun of my words all the time?"

Jayden smirked.

"And do you have to refer to me as your brother every time you want me to convey something personal to you?"

Mr. Edgar wanted to confront Jayden about his behavior, but he found himself sighing.

Mr. Edgar was rendered speechless by Jayden's skill with words.

"If you're not going to talk to me about your relationship with Freda, I'll have to leave."

Mr. Edgar hoped that Jayden would change his mind and tell him if there was anything going on between him and Freda, but he was mistaken.

Mr. Edgar received a wink from Jayden. "It is preferable if you leave. I'm responsible for these files." Jayden muttered, referring to the files on his front.

Mr. Edgar sighed as he walked away, dejected.

He was quite interested in hearing what Freda meant by the things she said during the board meeting.

'Could it be that they have both slept with each other and are planning on having an office romance?'

Mr. Edgar had a lot of questions, but he couldn't bring himself to answer any of them.

Freda, on the other hand, was already seated in her office chair and her body was itching.

She ordered a multicolored trouser and a red belly top at a reasonable price.

When her clothes were delivered to her, she went to the company bathroom, and because she was uncomfortable, she had to wash the bathroom that she meant to use, before taking her bath and putting on her clothes.

The trousers have the color red mostly attached to it, but from her knee region, the red was combined with other bright colors such as white, blue, yellow, and a little pink.

Her crimson belly blouse suited her red trouser, and the shoe she wore the day before, a white snickers, was able to fit in with her dress code.

Freda stuffed her old clothes into her backpack and as she approached the bathroom mirror, she braided her hair into two equal halves.

She put on her goggles and took a big breath.

Freda had been feeling uneasy because she hadn't taken a bath, but now that she was all freshened up, she felt relieved.

She returned to her office desk and got right to work, relieved that her absence was unnoticed.

She took up the phone on her desk and phoned her boss's office number, which was saved as CEO Jayden on the landline.

"Hello?" Jayden mumbled and was so engrossed with his work that he didn't notice the caller ID on his landline.

"CEO Jayden. You have a meeting with Mrs. Elizabeth, and you are both anticipated to continue the meeting over lunch. I have organized the necessary documentation."

Freda's voice was calm, and Jayden was astonished by how professional she sounded over the phone.

"Alright!" In response, Jayden declared.

He finished what he was doing in his office and then walked out. "Let's get going." Jayden said as he approached Freda's desk.

She took up her backpack and followed Jayden.

Jayden's car was parked in the garage, and Freda had previously told the company driver of their intended destination.

The driver had been waiting for Freda and Jayden at the garage for thirty minutes after receiving a call from Freda.

After Jayden handed over his car key to the driver, the driver instantly accelerated the car engine.

They took their seats and were soon at their destination.

Jayden observed as Freda remained quiet the entire ride as she glanced out the window.

Jayden was shocked that she wasn't spewing trash like she used to and that she seemed calm, which was unusual for him because he was uneasy.

Freda, on the other hand, had been observing Jayden as he scratched his body from time to time throughout the entire ride.

He didn't take a bath before heading to his workplace this morning, and he was trying not to let his irritated skin show.

A married woman in a red flowery gown was waiting for Jayden inside the restaurant.

The lady arrived a bit early and immediately she set her eyes on Freda who was approaching her, she smiled.

"Hello, secretary Freda." Mrs. Elizabeth summoned her.

Freda's lips curled into a small grin as she approached Mrs. Elizabeth and extended her hand for a handshake.

"Mrs. Elizabeth. This is Jayden, the CEO of Notherndell, and I'm sure you've never met before."

"Not at all." Mrs. Elizabeth responded quickly.

"Ohh. I'll have to wait at the extreme end of the restaurant. Mrs. Elizabeth. I would prefer it if the meeting is brief. CEO Jayden is feeling uneasy because he did not take a bath this morning." Freda explained as she pushed her goggles backwards.

She hoped her statement would make Jayden feel more at ease, but he was mad as hell, because she made her statement in front of a stranger.

She has just humiliated him!
