Mrs. Elizabeth tried to chuckle since she could see Jayden's uneasy countenance.
If she were in Jayden's shoes, she would surely feel humiliated by the circumstances.
Freda excused herself, and Jayden and Mrs. Elizabeth quickly ordered lunch and began their meeting.
Freda, who had already taken her seat, got a text from her landlady, who owns the house in which she lives.
"You must pay your house rent because it is past due."
After reading the SMS message, Freda exhaled.
She despised the fact that her house rent had to expire at a time when she really needed money.
Freda didn't need the landlady to tell her what would happen if she didn't pay by the end of the week.
Her landlady love's money and despises it when someone else owes her money.
Freda wasn't the kind to frequently change her surroundings, but she had to think about her foster mother.
Her house was big, and because she was the only one living there, she decided to think outside the box.
As soon as Freda turned on her phone, she went online to search for someone who has an apartment to rent near Notherndell, but she didn't locate anyone.
She decided that if she had a roommate who stayed in her house for two months while paying her house rent, she would be able to save a lot of money.
A smile appeared on her lips as she logged onto her Instagram account and quickly posted:
'I'm looking for a flatmate who will pay me by sharing my two bedrooms.'
After making her post, she dropped her phone inside her trouser pocket as she stared at her boss and Mrs. Elizabeth.
Mrs. Elizabeth had known Freda for a few months and had grown fond of her.
She was aware that Freda was autistic, but she admired Freda's charm.
Mrs. Elizabeth, on the other hand, had just signed a contract with Jayden, and she looked at him with a curious gaze.
"May I inquire as to the source of your suspicious gaze?"
Mrs. Elizabeth's gaze was making Jayden uneasy, so he had to question her.
She chuckled. "How long have you worked with your secretary?"
Jayden wasn't expecting Mrs. Elizabeth to enquire about Freda because he assumed Mrs. Elizabeth had just changed her mind about contracting with his company.
"Why do you ask?" Mrs. Elizabeth's inquiry required Jayden to respond with a question.
She shrugged as her chocolate brown eyes scanned the entire restaurant until they fell on Freda's seat.
She smiled pleasantly. "You don't have to address me formally. We have already rounded up what involved business, so we can both discuss as friends."
Jayden didn't understand why she was speaking to him casually, and he still doesn't understand why she was asking him such a bizarre question.
"Come on, Jayden. How long have you known her?" Mrs. Elizabeth inquired again.
Jayden pushed his finger into his man bun before turning to face Freda.
She appeared to be staring at him, but Jayden observed that she was buried in contemplation.
"I've only known Freda for a day," he admitted. "Well. It's only been a week, but who's counting?" Jayden elaborated.
Mrs. Elizabeth chuckled in response to Jayden's remark, and her lips curled into a brief smile.
She locked her gaze on Jayden. "CEO Jayden." Mrs. Elizabeth called out for him.
Jayden returned her gaze with a brief nod of his head, signaling her to proceed with whatever she had in mind.
"As you can see. Freda is the first autistic patient I've seen who attempts to make a difference. I've never met an autistic patient before, but Freda is a sweet person. She has a pleasant personality and a good sense of humor."
Jayden furrowed his brows, puzzled as to why Mrs. Elizabeth was telling him that.
"Mrs. Elizabeth, why are you telling me all of this?"
She reaches across the table and gently pats Jayden's hand. "You'll understand later, but for now, have a wonderful day." She declared as she rose from her seat and walked away.
She smiled as she approached Freda and patted her on the shoulder. "It didn't take long, did it?"
Freda jerked her head back from her thoughts, forcing a grin over her lips before bowing gently. "No, it didn't." Came Freda's quick response.
Mrs. Elizabeth also bowed her head slightly and excused herself.
Freda approached Jayden and summoned a waitress who brought the bills for her.
Freda paid for the meal with the company's black card, but was surprised to see Jayden still sitting. "Sir. Do you require anything? Like do you need takeout?"
Jayden exhaled.
"Why do you act like you've lost your mind? Why the hell did you tell my client I hadn't taken a bath, young lady? Does this make sense to you?"
Jayden's attention was fixed on Freda as he questioned her. His gray eyes mirror his thoughtless rage, and he exudes a chilly atmosphere.
"I didn't intend to be..."
Freda's statement was cut short when she was interrupted by a young lady.
"Jayden!" The lady exclaimed.
She wore a short black leather skirt that covered part of her thigh and a little top that appeared to be a bra.
Jayden and Freda both turned to look at her.
"Do I know you?" Jayden inquired as he examined the lady from head to toe.
The lady beams brightly. "Huh? Have you completely forgotten about me? I'm the lady you assisted last week." She elaborated.
When she realized Jayden wasn't following up on her statement, she decided to explain further.
"Last Monday at midnight, we had a fairytale experience. I lost my shoe and you picked it up, while searching for who owns the shoe. That's how we met, and it felt like a Cinderella story." She smiled as she explained. "Can you recall?" She continued.
Freda was tempted to correct the lady's comment, but she restrained herself.
Jayden sighed and stood from his seat. He shifted his gaze to Freda, knowing she must have something to say.
"Spill it out!" Jayden gave an order to Freda.
Freda instantly nods and stares at her puzzle box for a few moments before returning her gaze to Jayden and the young lady.
"Miss. Life is not a fairytale. Cinderella misplaced her shoe at midnight because she was in a hurry to return home."
With an annoyed face, the lady arched her brows and looked at Freda. "And what the fuck are you implying?" She yelled.
"All I'm trying to convey is that if you lose your shoe at midnight, it simply means you're intoxicated."
After Freda's comment, the young lady scowled. "The issue with some people is that they are breathing." She uttered, inadvertently insulting Freda.
The lady turned around and smiled at Jayden. "I'd love to spend more time with you, but I need to go to the bank to settle my loan."
Why was she telling that to Jayden?
Freda gazed at her puzzle box before signaling Jayden that they needed to leave.
Freda came to a halt as Jayden and her were ready to leave the young lady.
"Miss. If you need money or have financial problems, please feel free to text me." Freda muttered as she handed the lady her business card.
The young lady raised her brows.
"Why should I contact you?"
"So we can both beg together."
After Freda's statement, she glanced at her puzzle box for a minute before pulling her goggles closer to her eyes and walking away.
The lady was rendered speechless as she frowned intensely.
'What a weirdo!' She cursed silently.
