Chapter 1 - Elite Spear Institution Quota

"Outside of these dull walls exists a land far beyond normal human comprehension. And outside of this world lay many others, one of which happens to be known as Udarvis. Within Udarvis is an institution in which I know you will shine, it is called the Elite Spear Institution."

A man began as he lay in bed his skin turning a darker shade of purple as pulsing black lines began to take control of his veins and seep into his bloodstream.

"The only way to gain entry in such a place is by proving yourself in battle with many other geniuses around your age. They call it the Spear Institute Quota, which is held on many planets but they only accepted the top three. Luckily for you, my boy, the generation of our world has been invited to host a Spear Institute Quota."

The man spoke as he firmly placed his hands on the shoulder of a teenage boy. This boy's eyes were glossy and tears began to slowly fall down his face.

"Though you must first leave these walls and hone your skills. As there isn't much else I can do to help as you have been limited by my foolishness in not taking your mother as my bride. As such the family may have labeled you as a bastard child however I'll treat you no differently and your mother would have done the same. Though she has left due to the curse which I have received for defying the gods, she has left you this Spear as an apology for her absence Lykourgos."

The man known as Laertes pointed to a long case that stood upright in the corner of the room. Only after his son retrieved the box did he begin to explain. Though this time around his voice was much more hoarse sounding as if he would die at any moment.

"Before your mother left, she crafted you a spear that had the capabilities to grow alongside you. Using a rare material that would only stop its growth upon your entry into the Scared General Realm."

As Laertes mentioned these words, his son's eyes lit up in excitement before returning to their glossy state. His father was the man who had been his major benefactor after the Royal Court denied him access to all resources once his father took up a new bride by demand of his Grandfather or rather the King. Coming to understand this, anger brewed inside of Lykourgos' heart though it could only fester as he was powerless to make a charge with his current abilities.

"My son remembered these words as they are my last to you, revenge and power will not always be the answer, there's always another path to take. Now my son with the basic knowledge you were gifted from the kingdom's scholars in your youth use it to be selected upon this generation's talents." Laertes paused before continuing.

"Now free yourself from the shackles which bind you to this kingdom," Laertes said as he pressed a thumb to his son's forehead.

"I will father, goodbye father," Lykourgos spoke as he unlocked the case of the spear, and was hit with a wave of its emotion. It was almost like the beautifully crafted spear could convey forms of its emotion with its aura. When hit with such a wave of its aura Lykourgos felt the emotions of eagerness, dominance, and then finally acceptance when he made contact with the spear. Then he slowly left the room.

"My next step is to leave this kingdom behind and then finally return on the date of the Quota," Lykourgos spoke silently to himself before leaving the Royal Palace positioned at his back.

Meanwhile, as Lykourgos was leaving the Kingdom and aiming toward the Forbidden Forest, Laertes was recalling the events of his curse.

"One day the gods came to me in my dreams with a proposal. Either I took the life of my son which they said would be their downfall or I would be cursed a slow death. Well son, go give them a run for their money." Laertes spoke to himself before beginning to cough up black blood and impurities, eventually, his body was overloaded by them causing him to implode all over his bed inside the confined walls of his room and this entire kingdom.

A wretched stench was left inside his room along with several of his limbs around his room. All the while his son Lykourgos was beyond the walls of the kingdom and making his way to the forbidden forest. By his side a 1.8-meter spear lay grasped in his hand, its black lighting scale design around its shaft mesmerizing while the tip of the spear a gold color.

"I'll call you Thunder," Lykourgos spoke aloud for the first time during his trip.

"If I recall correctly mages use Mana to fuel their magic-based attacks which is ultimately just World Energy found inside of the air. While many others use Force or Aura, Force being stronger and more pure world energy from the center of your planet."

"However Aura is when you embody either force or mana into your body to increase your body's spiritual power. It's more dangerous to use force rather than mana. Even so, it will still result in an increase in speed or strength depending on your Aura type. It can even be a defense type like mine."

"I know so little about the world that I might not even make it past the first round in the Quota so I should train like there's no tomorrow. And, I should probably get a feel for Thunder while I'm at it." Lykourgos spoke before dashing into a dense part of the forest.

Lykourgos' heart was slowly bubbling up with excitement, he had never in all his fourteen years of life ever left the Kingdom of Devontae. Such an act was almost beginning to put to rest the sadness he had for his father's death. Even though Laertes could have been considered his major benefactor, it didn't mean that he was always present in Lykourgos' life.

If anything, to Lykourgos being proclaimed a bastard child, was like being given more freedom. With the connections, his father had, his education hadn't faltered too much and he was given more free time to explore self-interests.

Although this isn't to say Lykourgos hated his father if anything he felt that for most of his life both of his parents had just oddly been neglecting him, to further prove his point one even left shortly after he was born. Leaving him to grow up alongside his half-brother and sister, once he was finally labeled as a bastard child at the age of eight everything became worse.

His siblings were kept from his sight, not even allowed to utter a single word to him as their mother had told them that they were born to be his betters. And that kings and queens didn't waste time discussing matters with peasants and servants.

And this was his life but he enjoyed it all because one thing had outshined every other aspect, his spear! He didn't hate his father because as naive as he seemed, deep down he didn't expect much from him or anybody else for that matter.

He always kept one thought in mind as he trained and reformed his technique…

'I'll form a path with my spear!'

Upon setting foot in the Forbidden Forest, Lykourgos instantly heard the growls and cries of beasts. All of his senses were on alter as he felt many dangerous evaluating stares from the different beasts who lay hidden behind the trees, grass, or even in the shadows.

The Forbidden Forest was no mere playground for training disciplines; it was a place of strict hierarchy and survival. In other words, a battlefield where only the strong survive. Not a place where some child simply of first realm Pupil Tier 1 stature could enter at their leisure! They would show him what it meant to be among the presence and descent of talented beasts!
